PSPgo’s 480MHz Clock Speed References USB; Not CPU
greg | July 6, 2009
Ah — maybe the PSPgo isn’t faster after all… Engadget Japan apparently contacted Sony Computer Entertainment regarding the recently filed FCC docs; the ones we showed you on July 4th. It turns out the mentioned clock speed is actually in reference to the PSPgo’s USB — not the CPU.

Slight dissapointment.
Slightly obvious… USB2.0 == 480Mb/s == 480MHz oscillation required.
Next time, do some research before making claims like that.
Well aren’t you a smart one… *gives cookie* There you go. Now go to a lil’ corner and stfu. kthnxbye
fuck you asshole!!
nice come back :D.
lmfao o man did i sense a fail just now :P
Old news, this was posted on PSH yesterday..so much for 30min updates
I like it how someone else made a comment under my name…
Oh, and we can also say that it’s running at 2.4GHz too, because that’s the frequency the WLAN operates on. There are a lot of possible frequencies for different parts of hardware…
+10000000000
Haha.
I’d have to say that many people will be dissappointed including me.
Yeah, I am disappoint
If it’s talking about the front side bus speed of the PSPGo, then maybe the CPU will be even faster, Generally Frontside bus speeds are lower than CPU speeds (but that comes from computers so I am not sure on consoles and handhelds for sure)
that’s stupid… nothing can go faster than the system bus… if the psp only has a 333MHz bus at 1.2V… it is barely possible to achieve USB 2.0.. if this peice of paper is real then it it saying that the pspgo has at least a 480mhz bus.. and the cpu can be overclocked to the same
I think you’ve got your buses mixed up mate
Yup, he does.
i was saying that if the USB port has 480mhz clock speed then that means the system bus has to be at least that fast.
no it doesnt thats just how fast data gets transferred between the usb ports.
Hmm… When contacting Sony, they didn’t get any processor specs I guess? Speculating based on speeds of components inside the device is not very good. Some devices contain components that are based on higher then what is actually usable.
here are some FCC documents
Realease Date: 12/08/2009
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearchResult.cfm?RequestTimeout=500
But why would they stay with their 333mhz when they already have the 520mhz ARM used in the MYLO2. Seems the MYLO IP isnt doing so well…and they already have the hardware liscense. I sure hope they give developers more power than that. I dont want to shell out more cash for just a PSP with a slidescreen. I want this next set of games to be Much better than what the PSP offers now. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.
They may give more power but probably not to developers. The thing is quality control of games. If they regulate it to a certain spot then there are no issues with the oscillation being off by some amount. We just don’t know what they will supply us with until we get it.
They can’t very well switch the PSP to ARM without breaking compatibility with absolutely everything. At least not unless they also boost it to a few ghz and emulate the old stuff.
WTF SHIT! well i wasnt gonna buy a psp go anyways. Im lucky i even have a psp 2000 and a modded one at that.
fucking ass hole i was hopeing nintendo 64 was gonna work faster shit fucking crap i will take a dump on your study’s
fuck your 520mhz ARM used in the MYLO2. Seems the MYLO IP idiot
Screw this website. Honestly. I go to www gameinciter com for my gaming fun :)
are you stupid.. there only like 6 subforums and one of them is pokemon. and the other had a bunch of posts about piracy.
I don’t have to say I’m disappointing at all… Who gives a shit? It’s still a great design and you should appreciate that.
Disappointed*
sony really have underclocked it at 133 for extended slow down and battery life.
I wasnt that excited any way not sure if im gettin the go!. and with extra speed whats it going to do because sony will also be putting umd’s out for the 3000 so if the game needed more than 333mhz the 3000 couldnt do it!
Yay little big planet :)
woah I thought that it was really faster
stupid people… do some research first before announcing anything like that. how disappointing!!!
You people should wait for the psp2 it supposubly(sorry to misspell) has 1~677 CPU and 128mb of sdram plus it supports 8gb memory cards. But the downside is that early looks put the anolog sticks above the dpad and X buttons plus it gets fatter from top to bottom
In the end, you still can’t help but have a bit of a chuckle for the blunder… but in reality, speculation is just speculation and a hypothesis is just a guess through thought process.
though mind you guys, the PSP Go could wind up with a faster proc- just not listed.. ;P
well i think end of the day, its not all bad news, at least i know now i dont have to upgrade to a new pspGo jus for that extra cpu speed, aslo poeple why are u all forgetting that developers wud not the extra speed anyway due to the fact that they have to stick to 333 to make games work on all psp models, .. kinda easy to understand lol
*use
Fuck u all
that’s good news
