PSP Go Clocked in at 480MHz According to the FCC

greg | July 4, 2009

Check this interesting news tidbit out… The PSPgo — model number PSP-N1001 — apparently packs a faster CPU than its predecessor. That’s according to recently filed documents over at the FCC. Now it’s suspected the PSPgo will remain locked at 333MHz; however — you know what’s up when the device is cracked open and its true potential unleashed.

But still cool.

Hmm… I might get it as my all-in-one type of system at that… Imagine NullDC on that . We might top out at 80% instead of 50%-60%. Either way man that sounds good. Now to wonder how much ram is in it and if it has the same OS as its regular psp brethern.

The Bochs emluator or Dosbox even might run Windows 95/98 quicker though. We do have to factor in that that is what the FCC received as TOP clocked frequency. Every processor will be a little different usually to the end-user’s disadvantage.

minimum spec for windows 98.

should run perfectly fine on psp fat slim 3000 and go!

unless im missing something ?

66 MHz or faster processor
24 MB of memory
195 mb of free space
VGA

Win98 runs on x86 processors. PSP has R4300 processors. To run it you need emulation which requires many times more processing power than the hardware being emulated.

Hopefully this thing will have more RAM as well, then it might even be worth buying… once it’s hacked that is.

Yes but he said that it would run “faster”, not that it would be the only PSP that would run it.

You’re missing the fact that the PSP is not the same cpu architecture, which is why it doesn’t run the same…

sony will have that new psp locked up tight so it will be a longtime before it gets cracked if it gets cracked at all that is but im hopeing they will mess up on it lol

Maybe not. Sony has been known for their systems to contain the same code across multiple systems (PSP-1000 updates used to be about 15 MB for 1.5, now they are about 27MB for all systems). They reuse a lot of code so since the PSP Go is designed to be a PSP without a UMD drive but now with all content from PSN downloaded it is reasonable to assume code is the same i.e. same exploit different system.

maybe its like the new iphone. more power to run smoother and faster.

Assuming that Sony regulates speed down to its normal clock of the regular PSP it won’t be like the iPhone. Apple let the speed flow, where as Sony is very regulatory.

Maybe it’s just another way to slowly hand out hardware improvements, upgrade to OFW X.XX and get to use the “new” 480 MHz

if it is cracked then you can run 333MHz games with higher frame rates. GOW would run even smoother!

Faster but yet the screen is smaller, that right there makes it a no-bueno.

Who wants a smaller screen then what was already provided? What genius at Sony signed off on this? Make things smaller, BUT the viewing eye candy pleasure we call in layman’s terms “The Screen” which MUST! get bigger NEVER smaller.

Don’t forgot about the D-PAD.. It is almost flat and is kinda difficult to use such as Street Fighter game and many others that require for D-Pad.. I am not getting it no matter what until PSP 2!

the pspgen team are hidding something until the psp go comes out… they hid the chicken hen exploit until the 3000 came out so that it wouldn’t get blocked.. so there doing the same thing.. there is a gamesave exploit for 5.50 but nobody important has release anything because they don’t want it to get blocked in the pspgo
