greg | July 4, 2009
Update:
- Added a higher quality setting (255 iterations).
- Implemented auto mode that can create frames of a fractal growth effect video.
- Program now clocks the PSP to 333 MHz.
- Saved images are now in 24 bit bitmap format.
- Some information is now shown on the calculating screen.
- Program now makes click sound for every valid button press, and when a new frame is rendered.
- Fixed program exit screen to work properly when Home button is pressed.
- Implemented zoom viewfinder.
- Images are now saved to ms0:/PICTURE/Fractals so they can be viewed in the XMB picture viewer.
Here’s a little somethin’ somethin’ from the developer you know as Art… It’s Fractal Universe — Explore it! Really, I don’t know what else to tell ya.
This is a relatively fast Mandelbrot set fractal explorer. You can move left, right, up, down, and zoom in & out of the image you see at any time. The fractal universe is limitless, and you can zoom in as many times as you like without losing any detail. You can also save an image to Memory Stick.

Woohoo First Comment!!!
Anyways, I like how you can save an image… I’ll have a new psp image. I assume you can change colors and such?
You don’t have an life if making an 1st comment makes you proud. :|
why do you even bother care about these things anyways.
:D
woohoo first ass hole that coment
This is boring. I cannot use my own pics just the one it has.
It’s because the one it has is “special” in some way so it does not loses quality as you zoom in.
It is based on a formula so how could you use your own pictures? It is a mathematical calculation that adds up to make the graph (a trig function I believe) where colors represent different included and not included regions and more and less dense areas. Again, how would you use your own picture?
wow you’re dumb…use your own picture for fractal exploration…that makes no sense at all.
Do you know what a fractal is?

Does no one know what a mandelbrot is?
It’s a very fascinating aspect of mathematics.

Very nice program by the way.
Yea and zooming in on the same dame thing over and over if fun for oh say a minute then delete.
Interesting. This is kinda cool. I’m impressed that the PSP can render this at a relatively fast speed. I <3 fractals.
I dont get this program
I realize and appreciate the complexity of this program and the math involved, but I would love to see it run a little faster in an update. Would this be possible?
Not exactly fun. Takes a good 10 secs between zoom or move. Not very exciting at all.
I agree. As I said before, could it be made faster? Anyone?
boring. i know it’s supposed to be all mathematical and whatnot, but seriously, who cares? you know what was hundreds of times more fun than mandelbrot? spyrograph.
Use this program while you’re stoned XD.
