I have problems with emulation now on my 1000. ISO’s wont load and half my homebrews as well.

Irshell doesn’t work with this, does it? Cause if it doesn’t, there’s no way I’m “upgrading.”

For anybody that uses Torch’s Lockdown plugin, it no longer works under GEN-B. Also, if present in your flash when you install GEN-B it will brick your PSP.

LEDA doesn’t even install anymore, let alone not work. Hopefully PSPGEN will address this issue, or release a 1.50 kernel patch.

I’m keen to move from m33. But does GEN-B include the new super-speed stuff that’s in the latest m33? There’s no mention of this, so I’m not sure if I should upgrade or not.

yeah! that MS speed up in 5.00 M33 is great! it saves about 2 seconds per loading in DJMAX!

I just upgraded from M33 to GEN B and love it.

I Still Have M33 cause it is the only custom firmware i have ever know to actually work really well can someone tell me what are the benefits and downfalls of updating to this new firmware and if there will be and new M33 updates anytime soon

OK, finally decided to move on over to Gen instead of M33, can’t send the noobs over until I’ve used it myself now can I?

This allows sub-folders???? I had used a plug-in before that allowed sub-folders but was very buggy. I might jsut be crazy enough to go all the way back to 1.5 kernel and used DevHook so I can keep M33 but also use 5.50 GEN-B. Or maybe I should just take the darn plunge and hope for the best (but first remake my pandora’s battery(softmod)…) .

PSN Store access? I’m using a Phat PSP w/5.0 M33-6 and have had access to the PSN store since it was integrated into the software. In fact, I bought Patapon 2 and downloaded it directly from PSN onto my Phat PSP w/CFW. If this isn’t supposed to happen on a PSP w/CFW, how the hell am I able to access PSN from my PSP w/CFW?

Question before I upgrade from 5.00 M33, are programs like PSPTube or the CFWcheat compatible with this?

The only emulator that works with Gen B is picodrive. No others work. PSP Filer and other programs are a no go too. ISO’s work fine, though. Any idea how to get them working again?

i am running 5.00 m33-6 and am able to connect my psp to the network and media go. its because i dwnloaded the psn version of ff7 and i had to be a version txt file in my flash 0 which says i have a 5.50 psp. so hahaha i can stay on my 5.00 m33-6 which is SUPERIOR!!!!

i just updated my psp to 5.50 version from 5.00 m33-6,n its original not a CFW.I had many games in my iso folder n now i can not access them,neither i can access the recovery menu. I think that this is cuz i dont hav a cfw.
please help me n tell me wat 2 do?
if i want to download any custom firmware it says that an alredy running cfw is required.

i want to go back to 5.00 m33-6 (the cfw) from the original 5.50 . how can i do that?

I love my antique fat PSP-1000 running 5.00 M33-6. I usually wait after a new CFW release to make sure all the bugs/updates are worked out. Still thankful for all CFW creators though.

its good stuff and its getting better. Yeah, I had m33 and I liked it a lot but I have Gen now and its like amazing. Only thing missing is MS speed and I really couldn’t tell the difference when I had it on and had it off. Don’t talk bad about Gen unless you had it and tried it for a week or two. I’m not disrespecting m33 because I know they are great but you need to give Gen a try and you can always use Hellcat’s Recovery to go back. Don’t hate, just appreciate until you try it.

is ther a way to downgrade to 5.00m33-6 id rather be able to use my favorite theme than psn

i just upgraded from m33-6 to gen-b so i could keep getting my R:R online fix.. gotta say, if you have a fully functional m33 setup right now, and you don’t do online gaming, KEEP THAT! the emus seem to be a bitch to get going again and on the whole my XMB is somewhat laggy (CPU=333). if someone gets snesx running on gen-b maybe i’ll change my tune; for now, i’m kinda wishing i hadn’t bothered.

After a few days of using 5.50 GEN B (full), I must say I dislike it at this point. No disrespect toward the developers, though. You’re putting hard work into this, but it needs a little more to be up there with M33. I just reverted from 5.50 GEN B (full) to 5.00 M33-6 last night. Boy… that was hell; reverting.

M33 Iz The King for ever that gen piece of poo is not all good still not done for those who are stubborn M33 users stick whit it for a min they will find the problem out and fix it then it will be M33-7 or some thing like that dont feed your psp some thing nasty when m33 iz yumy for your psp and it wont get constipated and die like GEN ;)

Have a Pandora battery thats all you need G and just hit up you tube for that sh*t unless you already know how or just go to pandorasales. c o m they got some good deals there or you can just convert a spare battery into a Pandora which evers easy for you

With all these emulator issues you think that, i dunno, the GEN-A/B developers would have perhaps tested the most common ones to see if they still work and perhaps put a note saying they did, or did. Instead they seem to produce this shit like microsoft produced Windows ME. I dont know anyone who didnt go back to Win98SE or up to Win2000.

Well i tried this out & its not to bad at all but the slow mem card speed was not for me,so I agree with dudee on this one….

For some reason after successfully installing 5.50 Gen-B and going into recovery mode later and exiting, Netfront Internet Browser Beta 4 w/HighMemoryMod starts up every time I turn on the PSP and even when I try to exit Netfront, the browser restarts. I can disable the plugin to stop it but it’s very inconvenient. Any idea what the problem is? I have a PSP-1000.

To all for the users out there.. Just tried this out.. With no disrespect to the creator of GEN B.. I recommend NOT updating unless you play online always..
5.00 m33-6 is still the best.. I suffered a lot on reverting back :p.. so unless you really want to play online every day.. Go update.. but if you don’t.. Don’t even bother updating..

Dont update to GEN-B. there are too many bugs with emulators and others apps.
GEN-A however works fine with your emulators, apps and new games.
But if you dont intend to play newer games like MHFU or resistance stick with m33 as it most know it works better.

cfw 5.50gen-B will work on the psp 3000 all you need to do is alter the cfw a bit and you got it and you will need softwere that will open a eboot and you will can alter it and put it back to in one file and you can install it on the psp 3000 and win you have a full cfw working psp 3000 a pandora battery will work on the cfw psp 3000 if you go back to your old fw it will not work and if you brick your psp 3000 some times you can not unbrick it

and i will not till how to get it working on the psp 3000
it is so vary easy that the gen pips can do it for you if they did not do it for you all now they are not going to so do it your self and and have the fun ass holes

There is a definite problem with 5.50 gen-b and clock speed with games downloaded legally from PSN. Seen with R:R, Syphon Filter Logans Shadow, Ratchet and Clank etc, the fmv is stuttery as hell. Reseting the flash, changing the clock speed to 333 make no difference. Using Hellcats Recovery (which for everyone who wants to go back to 5.00 M33-6 is a great tool which doesn’t need a pandora battery, just makes sure you reset all settings during the flash when prompted.) I got back to M33 and the problem goes away. Until that is resolved I recommend everyone avoids this.

WEL. PSP RADIO and new disney hana montana radio not wory. Radio not work at all. PSN Demo games downloadet not work either. Then what is work in this FW? PSN? Okay seriously, this update broke every emulator and now won’t allow hellcats recovery to run so I can downgrade. I put cfw on this so long ago I don’t even remember how to downgrade the old way. If you are considering updating to this…. don’t.

well, i updated to this CF and i have no regret fo it. The only thing i miss from the m33 is the snes emu and the 1.5 kernel for phat psp.

I really regret doing upgrading to this from M33. While I can play my ISOs and official games, I can’t do anything with homebrew apps. I get a black screen, my memory stick lights up solid, then my psp shuts off, and I can’t turn it on for a minute or two…

I’m currently on firmware 5.02 (updated from a UMD game disk)

I would like to download games clones (ripped copies) from the web in order to play them off the memory stick… what options do I have? will the PSP Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-A or GEN-B work?!

I don’t use any custom themes, software, homebrew …etc, i just need a stable hacked PSP to run games I download on my phat PSP 1004.

ey every1, i got a psp 1000 .. just the first one, a fat and i got 3.71m33 frimware and want to update with an easy installer to 5.50XGEN-B
i can see the update in my psp, and if i press on it i see alot of text and on the right side Enter and Exit

i pressed Enter and my psp froze? or something.. he didnt do anything anymore and shut down by himself

i turned on again.. nothing happened

There is a game that i want to play with stuff unlocked(Gran Turismo), so I downloaded an all cars unlocked save. When I try to load, it says “Data saved on another PSP detected, cannot load, etc” or something like that.
Is it possible to remove this nasty “specific psp system” save protection?

I’ve just had a weird thing happen… I’ve put 5.50-GEN-B on my 1004 FAT. Everything worked fine, so I then used Network Update to test it. It has somehow put the OFFICIAL Sony 6.10 firmware on, and my games aren’t showing up.

I’m not a n00b at this, done hundreds, but never had this happen. It’s not a big thing, but means I can’t play GT or NFS Shift until Friday, my lil lady has my Pandora battery, and is away till Sunday.

Is this a bug?

i installed 550.gen d2 on my 1004 and 2004 and with both psp i cannot connect to psn keep getting screen that i need a update

I have a serious problem. My psp is not able to play ben-10 vilgax attack which is presently updated to 5.00 m33. Will it be able to play on this latest 5.50 gen-b version. Please help me in this matter. I am dying to play it

I just got a 2000 slim with vsh 5.50; It doesn’t mention A or B rev in the menu. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get ISO and CSO images to play on the device. I formatted the card and copied the files into the ISO dir. Is there something I need to do in the VSH menu or install in addition to this for it to work? It’s set in VSH for USB device Memory Stick and UMD ISO Mode M33 driver.
