my old psp broke like last yr, so i bought a 3000 for me for chrismas but i didnt no tht it was “unhackable”, and then with the gripshift exploit, i accidently upgraded firmware n missed that, then thank god chickhen came along and now this, AWETHOME!

Only if you have a problem with it.
Personally I think GEN-A is great.
Note: DO NOT attempt to flash or install CFW 5.50 GEN-A on a PSP-3000 or TA-088v3 hand-held. You will render your PSP a useless brick.
hum, I never used GEN-A. I will try soon. For now, CFE works fine
only one thing i still can’t work out with cfe,, it’s the version.txt,,,

i think so but i’ve been using the same chickHen2 for a while now,,, i think it just makes it respond quicker but don’t take my work for it,,,,

Okay, is this not a permanent MOD? Cause I tryed to restart the system using the select bottun menu, and when it rebooted it booted back into the standard 5.03…
I have the Ratchet and Clank Silver system if someone wants to try to reproduce the same thing I’m getting and help me solve it…

well it’s not that difficult..all you have to do is create a folder on the root of your memory stick named “ISO” and place all of your isos and csos there. Then once booted into custom firmware..simply press select–> (vsh menu) and choose M33 driver from UMD iso mode..(dont leave it as normal, as the games wont start up)..thats it.simple as that.. any more questions and please refer back to this forum.

i am also facing this problem on my psp 3006, tried with m33 , even the others, all time it start the iso, then hang after few sec (avg 5 to 10) only some of my own umd backup work.

I believe it’s for tricking certain games into “thinking” you’re running them legit, something with checking for the version you’re running. Mostly it’s newer games that require it.
If I’m wrong someone correct me please, I don’t want to mislead the fellow :|.

Why do i get this errors?
After i have installed ChickHEN R2, when I try to Flash And Start, i get errors like Error writing file (repeated 4-5 times) then ERROR! Flasher can’t install custom firmware.
Am I the only 1 facing this problem? I have tried on a few version of CFWEnabler, and all the same results.
But Gen-A works fine.
BTW I’m trying on the PSP-3000.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
You did nothing wrong. You should FIRST download cfw enabler v1.0, flash it. Now all other versions will work ;).
Version 1.00 does not support flashing of psp-3000

Ive tested,and loved it,I was playing Spyro so ps1 games work… whats weird is flash pops module always gives me an error,but I can still play ps1 games by holding R and hitting a firmware version

Ok, I’m pretty sure I got a v3 slim psp, so tomorrow I’m gonna run PSPident and verify.
If I do indeed have a v3, I’m gonna need CFWE v3.30.
My question is: How the hell do I install it? I’ve searched for an hour, and I cannot find cohesive instructions on how to install/run this on my PSP.
I do know that you must have ChickHen R2 activated first, and that CFWE v3.30 does not affect the PSPs flash memory (i.e. it does not over-write the psp’s firmware), so if the psp turns off or crashes, you must reload ChickHen and CFWE.
So could someone please explain to me (or point me in the right direction) how I install this after ChickHen has been activated?

Just download CFWE v3.30…Extract the file you downloaded..Copy the CFWEnabler folder and paste in PSP/GAME..
now go to you psp and run CFWE v3.30 from games..
Click on the option Flash firmware on psp..

One more question for you, since you seem to be the guy who knows:
I was under the impression that this does not modify the firmware of the system, and it’s effects are temporary (until the system was restarted).
Am I correct in this? I thought one could not permanently flash the firmware of a TA-088v3 (yet).

No, it does not modify any of the official firmware files. It is a temporary thing that you need to re-run every time you turn off your PSP.
No, you cant change the flash0 files the PSP reads during startup. The pre-ipl ensures they are not changed. If they are changes, it causes the PSP to not start.
CFE simply runs alongside the official sony stuff, after the PSP is already started up. That way, the pre-ipl which only runs at startup, doesnt know the difference.
hi could any one help me here coz i have upgraded my firmware from asia.playstation.com when i upadted my psp version to 5.51 the CFW enabler seems not to work and as well as my chickHen enabler could you please help me here just want to know why did it not work on a update version of 5.51 is there any loader that is compatible with the version 5.51 firmware?

This works only on 5.03 official firmware.
There is no version at the moment which works on anything other than 5.03…

have you installed CFE and flashed it in to your system?
reboot your psp back to OFW, then run chickHen r2, then run CFE, there it will give you the option to flash CFW m33 which you need to do to have M33 cfw
but it will not be a permanent cfw everytime you reboot you will have to run chickHen then run CFE but you won’t have to flash again like in GenA

have you removed GenA from your system
uninstall it completely? then run CHenR2 then try to flash CFE,,,
other than that i don’t know what else to do,,, sorry,,,

i was sure there is an unisntall option on GenA but i could be wrong as i am now using CFE cause GenA keeps crashing on me,
have you tried reformatting the MS and restore to factory settings and start again from scratch,,,,?

my chickHen r2 won’t work anymore it just shutdown the psp, sometime memory card light solid when it get to tiff file other time no light.any help would be appreciate any help i have a psp slim came with fw 4.01 upgrade to fw 5.03 was using chickHen r2 with Custom Firmware Enabler v3.20 upgraded to Custom Firmware Enabler v3.30
try this, i find it works with mine all the time first time,,,,
when you open the picture folder don’t scroll down just yet count slow up to 3 seconds then scroll down again slow,,,

I installed it on my TA-088v3, and everything seems to be working just fine.
I have not yet run any emulators, or ps1 games, but the psp ISOs I have did load up and run completely fine.
Overall, I’m very impressed with this so far. Nice work guys :)
my psp with mobo TA-088V3,I tried this chicken thing on it…I got it right once but after that when i tried it,it always hangs up just when i get into the photos folder-the screens stuck for sometime after which the psp gets switched off.I feel so upset.PLSSS help!
Any1 had any luck getting ChickhenR2 to work with a photofast adapter?
i recently bought a photofast adapter with 2X8gb microsd cards.
i formatted it using the psp and tried to run chickhen(h.bin in root, chickhen folder in PSP\PHOTO\) and it just freezez and does not reboot.
it works perfectly fine when i use my old 4gb original mspd.
anybody can help?

i did just exactly as u said. but it just freezes there and does not reboot. im using 2X sdhc4 8GB kingston cards on a psp 2006 btw.

please explain to me what is this improvement….Improved the ChickHEN patch system, does it mean R2 will load more easier than the previous one, that loading R2 would no longer seems to be a game of luck, and by the way which is easy to load the R2 or HEN, with the 2Kv3 or the 3K.

NO! since you have a hackable PSP, you can downgrade to a much lower version and upgrade to 5.03, then proceed to customization. but you can only downgrade using pandora, so i suggest that you customized your PSP using pandora.
Rejoice for you have a hackable PSP, you can flash a permanent CFW to it.
Hello I got the cfw to load just fine I had a psp 2000 a year or so ago. But anyways my iso and cap are not showing up to be able to play them. I can put 5 on my card and 1 shows up. If anyone has any ideas I’m willing to try anything to get it working.
also my eboots show up as corrupt files. but i cant remember how you are suppose to load them like what folder to put them in. this is what i got psp/game/eboot/eboot folders. if that is correct let me know or let me know the right way. i just hope maybe its just my files. idk
Just create a folder named “ISO” in the root folder and put the games there..

i have a psp 3000 and i have done all the instructions correctly many times but still some of my iso/cso game files wont work or m psp doesnt read it,, ive also checked if it is in UMD (m33 driver) and it was! what problem do you think im experiencing.. pls. reply back..

then hit ‘X’to open ‘ChickHEN’ folder.. And wait, you will see egg giff images, these will start to load thumbnails images. Your PSP may freeze and shutdown.
