PSP IRDA JOY Mod v2.1
greg | June 10, 2009
You may remember reading this a couple months back, or maybe you don’t… Perhaps your memories are a bit fuzzy, after all it happened on 4/20. But whatever the case — watch…
Buzz’s IRDA Joy Box Project is the reverse scenario of FuSa GamePad; instead of using your PSP as a new joystick/gamepad on the PC, you’re using an old DB9 joystick (Atari, Amiga, Amstrad, etc…) on your PSP-1000. That little black box takes care of all the dirty work.
The box uses the IRDA port of your PSP-1000. You need two AA batteries to power it and once everything is set, you’ll be rocking the emulators with your old school joystick, such as PSPHUGO, PSPCAP32, or PSP2600.

Oh, before anyone asks…as it probably will happen…
NO, it will not work on the PSP-2000 and newer models, because there is no IR port available.
Really!! lol joking hahaha I was just looking at the comments to see how many people were going to ask that.
Great work guys! But how we can make our own joystick? We need a DIY Tutorial, hehe, Welldone!
Buzz is working on an english version of his blog (coming soon), with all details to design your own box.

a control controlling a device (pps) that has a bult-in control..hmm useless?
You’re useless… I would love to have this. Thank you psp-hacks.com for the years of work!!!!
It would be more useful if the 1000 had tv out then you wouldn’t be tethered to the tv by the video cable but yea….
Some people just like to use the old controllers for old games so its not useless to them.
Any signs of a plugin to map a PS2 plugin using USB to all PSPs. If we can go from IR to a controller, we should be able to go from the USB port (considering with plugins we can hijack the display and control to the PC)
Just a thought.
I think they make serial converters for PS2 game pads if not is shouldn’t be to hard to adapt to use with this setup but another annoying box in between the IR transmitter and the controller.
What you talk about should be simple. If anyone has used remotejoylite you can map keyboard keys to control the PSP from the PC. It would be pretty much the same thing just interpreting the PS2 or PS3 controller commands and making your own mini usb-b to mini usb-b cable.
Only problem is how to power it without draining the battery on the PSP with PS2 controllers since they have no battery in them.
Another useless piece of shit by ZX-81
that joystick idea is shit, its got ten buttons and a joystick on it.
good job on a pointless invention
what are you talking about? if its my post then…
Each button sends a code that is unique. The joystick is just two variable resistors that send an analog value to a AtoD chip usually It’s also over USB not serial if you are talking about my post. I’m not trying to do it just telling the other guy things to look up to get started if he wanted to do it.
Ohhhh you mean on the PSP already lol misread.
