Booyaka! Just what you’ve been waiting for… No, it’s not the next M33 CFW — it’s Custom Firmware 5.03GEN-A for Team Typhoon’s ChickHEN. It offers all the benefits of 5.02GEN-A, plus the following –
- PSP-3000 and PSP-2000 v3 Support
- PSOne Game Support
- ISO/UMD Backup Support
- GEN VSH MENU
- Recovery in VSH available (some bugs remain – see the README)
- Access to PSN
How to install 5.03GEN-A:
- Connect your PSP to the computer via USB when you have loaded ChickHEN R2
- Unzip 5.03GEN-A
- Double click on “LAUNCH-ME.exe” (GUI)
- PSP Model: depending on your PSP, choose the option PSP-2000 or PSP-3000
- Mode: Choose option FULL
- PSP Install: Choose option YES
- Push START
- The files are copied on your PSP
- Disconnect the PSP from USB
- Launch the main EBOOT.PBP using ChickHEN R2 (only R2! NOT R1!).
- When the app loads, press L or R to flash the firmware in your flash. YOU ONLY NEED MAKE IT ONE TIME!
- Press CIRCLE to reboot in the custom firmware.

what i did to fix my psp2k ta 088v3
1. Format ur PSP Memory Stick using the PSP itself whilst on OFW
2. RESET the psp to factorymode
3. Download an Official ChickHEN R2 Package made by Davee and davee’s chickhen only not any modded packs or what ever
4. This step may take a lil while but try too run the HEN in any way u want just dont use the Modded Ones
5. Put the m33 CFWEnabler v1.0 on the Memory stick dont try the newer versions just try v1.0 Flash it too ur Flash0
5. Get the 2.10 Version Flash it too ur flash0
6. And last but not at least Flash the 2.51 version on the PSP’s Flash0

i done what you done (h20) i had the same problem but i only got to step 5.when i cheked my system info i got version 5.00m33, can i use it like normal m33 with iso games and psp games….. or do i need to installm33 CFWEnabler 2.10…and 2.51?

It does but, read the readme. It says that if you rename (dont delete since you cant flash anymore if you delete this) flasher.prx, you cant flash ANYTHING from/to your PSP meaning you’re safe. Dont even try to add a flashable theme to this. If you mess with vshmain then your psp might get a UNREPAIRABLE SUPER ~!@#$%^&*S!#$%^&* BRICK AND YOUR MOM WILL DO SOMETHING TO YOU.

Don’t delete ANYTHING from the flash0. There is no pandora for the psp 2000v3 and psp 3000. Doing anything with the flash0 is very dangerous and can make your PSP well….It will be the same as a stone brick, but worth 200 dollars.

Yes, but even if the 3000/v3 would boot a pandora, no matter how we flashed the OFW, it would brick thanks to the new pre ipl.Now the only way i could think of getting past that is if we could mess with the motherboard and the pre ipl itself OR if we could control what files are flashed with an OFW update,or for that matter, what makes OFW Updates any different from flashing
Well technically you could remove the GEN files, but only them. This is because they arent loaded with the ipl

Buy a 3000 since the 2000 will probably be v3. With the 3000 you have a better screen(excluding scan lines) and a microphone. And some other things. Download the 5.03 update on your computer so you don’t accidently update to 5.50 making it impossible to hack your PSP 3000 anymore. Be carefull and read every guide possible until you fully understand. In the past all these things could be restored but this is PERMANENT if you do something wrong.

v3 2000s are only ones that are bundled with software. If you get just the core unit of the 2000 it’s not a v3 mobo! My friend bought the core system package just last month two of them actually and both were still V2.
Actually thats not true. I just bought a 2000 core system a few weeks ago and it had the unhackable motherboard on it. Think your friend just got lucky.

I would go for the PSP2000, that works in all cases with pandora etc.

The PSP 2000 Ta88v3 doesn’t work with Pandora. All the PSP slims being made now have that motherboard so this is the only way to hack it. The PSP 3000 also has that protection.
Core 2000s are still v2 they aren’t making 2000s anymore so any that are bundled with software have a V3 mobo and the ones that don’t come with anything are older models.
Incorrect. I bought a 2000 core last week and it was a v3. No bundles and it was still unhackable. Yes, you can buy a 2000v3 as part of the core system.

I have CFW on my psp 1001k no problem. Go to this link and ask for help. They taught me how and you dont need pandora to do that. :)
If you venture for about 2 seconds into the forums here and look under the tutorials section, a giant thread named “The Hack Your PSP Mega-Thread” will smack you in the face and you will cry in shame for posting here without looking. Try to check out the forums next time. They hold all the answers.

Best thing if you want to use a pandora battery get a used slim psp before the Ta88v3 motherboard or just get a old fat pep that you can hack any model of, use a pandora battery and use any single firmware you want that has been made and able to d/l. also no matter what ofw toy have on a fat psp you can use a pandora battery to get the ofw or cfw you would like.

PSP3000 is waaaaaaaaaaaay better u wouldnt belive the difference i saw while playing final fantasy dissidia (japanese) on my psp3000 after playing on a PSP1000 i was like OMFG!!
you would be right but i have 1000 for a few reasons and one is because it doesn’t feel like cheap plastic, the umd drive is opened by a switch (i dunno i personally like that), all out homebrew 1.5 no if’s ands or buts, and most of all is the inrared port i use for my wireless keyboard and being able to use it to control anything with infrared.
but half the Ram so some home brew only runs on slims.
psp 3000 makes umd less breakable while in psp 1000 it could destroy ur umds
all the 3000 is, is that it just got brighter screen right? and you get scan lines… ive played disgaea on a 3000 and the scan lines make it look horrible compared to my 2000. i think ill save my money and wait for the PSP Go! to get hacked and have cfw cause it must be 10 times better than 3000. itll be brighter smaller and etc..
Does anyone have information on what happens when you run the network update on a psp 3000? Currently downloads the M33-6 update but I assume this will not work?

Well this is good news in the right direction. The problem is its not PERM like the other CFWs. Has to be run everytime you hard reboot the PSP.

YES..just make a folder called “ISO” capital is important on the root of your memory stick and drag and drop the downloaded iso/cso into that run chickHEN then CFW enabler or this gen custom firmware enabler and your good to go.. simpleeeeeeee

I did it, seems I can read iso’s, but I’ve got an error “the game could not be started. (80020321). PSP3003, 5.03 ver. How could I run iso’s?
Hit select to bring of the VHS menu, then change the UMD ISO mode to the Sony NP9660 version. That will allow you to play ISO/CSO backups from your memory stick.

Go to the official firmwares section of this site, download it. In the GAME folder on your memory stick, create a folder called UPDATE and put the downloaded EBOOT.PBP into it. On your psp, open the memory stick under game and it should be there, top of the list. Run. Upgrade. CFW!!!!!!!

Type in 5.03 Official Firmware Download.
After you downloaded it copy it to PSP/GAME directory.
Disconnect your PSP to your PC.
Go To Games and Run The Application.
Read and do what you are asked to do.

no 1 replied to my inquiry so curiosity took on me, i did upgrade to this eventhough i am already at cfw 5.00m33. now what happened is that it was partial successful, since after running the update, i pressed circle to restart, well it went black and shut down itself. i restarted it, it booted fine… great. checked system, 5.00genA, now here’s the bad part, now it won’t load any of my iso/umd games. what’s the fix on this??? can i still downgrade back to 5.00m33???

hey it does work and all but it did not run my dumped iso of fifa 07. i copied it from the umd using the umd mode. i put the file in the iso folder. after that i put the UMD ISO MODE to M33 driver and then tried to run my iso. i opens and freezes when it says loading and turns off automaticly. help me guys! i update my psp with chickHen r2 and 5.03 gen-a and i play iso games with it, but after a few days my psp 3000 doesn’t show the iso games on my psp anymore and when i push select the vsh menu doesn’t show also…. but when i look at it on my computer the games are still there at the iso folder…. i dont delete any files after i update it to 5.03 gen-a(full)… what supposed to be the problem of my psp 3000?
Your PSP may have rebooted and went back to OFW (it happened with mine). Look under the system settings and check the firmware version. You may need to reinstall the CFW.

I need help. I have a PSP 3001 with firmware 4.21. I’ve downloaded the eboot file many times. I copied the file to the update folder in the psp, then try to run it. I keep getting the message Corrupt Data. What should I do? Has anyone had that problem?

OK… I’ve modded a few phats in the past and now I just got the PSP 3000 Rock Band Bundle (because I knew Firmware 5.01 was on it).
1. I manually upgraded to 5.02 OFW and then 5.03 OFW.
2. I copied over the ChickHEN R2 tiff image with a few random JPGs and can run it. The PSP shows System Software “5.03 ChickHEN R2″.
3. I connect the PSP to my computer on USB. Then I run the “5.03 GEN-A for HEN” LAUNCH_ME.EXE on my computer. The window pops up and I select the PSP 3000, Full, and YES then push Start. I don’t know if it matters but the “PSP Unit ID” is blank.
In a matter of seconds, all that happens is the files that look like they should have been copied to the PSP, show up in the same folder on my computer as the LAUNCH_ME.EXE. Another popup says the files were copied successfully to the PSP … which they were not.
So my question is… can I and where do I manually put the “files” folder, flasher.prx, reboot.prx, GEN.BAK, and the main EBOOT.PBP files that were created on my computer?
That is the only step holding me back.
One last thing … I keep reading there is no permanent solution for the PSP 3000. So do we have to run the ChickHEN after ever hard reset?

NM… I figured it out. had to manually run the 2nd psp-cfw.exe. Duh. Had to do it in a command prompt to put in the proper parameters… but I got it.

just put the name of the psp drive/mine was F/: just put the letter like this F or watever ur drive is on your pc
AH! New issue. Ran Go Sudoku (ISO) and it works fine. When it tries to Save the initial game settings…it says their isn’t enough room on the Memory Pro Duo. This is a 4GB that came in the bundle and was formatted by this very PSP 3000. It has like 3.5gb free.
Is there a setting to make the Memory Pro Duo visible to the games as writable media?
The UMD with OFW works fine of course. The ISO of the same game launches on 5.03 GEN-A. But the CFW doesn’t seem to read the Memory Pro Duo as writable location.
Kinda odd.
The issue seems to be related specifically to the Go Sudoku ISO. I tested a different game ISO and it saves fine. So I tried copying my Go Sudoku savegame folder from my PSP phat to the 3000 and I was able to save the games again.
So if you have any ISOs that won’t save game info after you’re on 5.03 Gen-A and you have a phat PSP you are upgrading on, just copy over the savegame folder specific to your game (example – Go Sudoku’s savegame folder is UCELxxxxxx or something similar). I found the folder by opening the png files for the XMB picture of Go Sudoku.
If you only have a PSP 3000 and are not upgrading from a PSP phat. Google is your friend.

The ChickHEN never loaded using my 4 GB mem stick. I had to use an old 256 MB stick and it works like a charm.

I have a PSP 2001 and it has a TA88v3 motherboard.
From the description of this “Custom Firmware 5.03GEN-A”, it seems like I should be able to play ISO games since it says “ISO/UMD Backup Support”
If that is the case, I can’t get it to work.
I upgraded to the original firmware to 5.03 and I was able to install and load ChickHen R2 just fine.
I followed the instructions above to install the Customer 5.03 Gen-A firmware and I was able to flash it and reboot into it successfully. My system information displays: 5.03 GEN-A (FULL)
Then I tried to load one of my ISO games. This ISO works on another hacked (fat) PSP, so no issues there.
It starts loading the PSP logo, then after a few seconds it kicks me out saying “game could not be started (80020321)”
If anyone has been able to play ISO games on their PSP 2000/1 Ta88v3, can you please tell me exactly what you did? would really appreciate it..
To answer my own question, I read someones comment above.
This is what I had to do play an ISO game on my PSP 2001 / Ta88V3:
Update firmware to 5.03 (official firmware)
Install and load ChickHENR2
CFWEnabler 3.50 (http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1734)
press select and change UMD ISO MODE to M33DRIVE
Load your game.
with this firmware, can we play games from the memory stick for psp3000 like the usual psp2000?.. please reply thanks

I have a psp 2000 v2 running m335.0 if I install OFW 5.3 and then run this chickenhen stuff will it work or does it only work on V3 2000s. I am asking because I can’t access the PSN anymore and this hack allows that. So I need to know if its safe to use this on a v2 2000psp
When I try to install chicken hen r2, I have my psp on OFW 5.03 and all of it clean
I do exactly as the readme says to and it just turns the psp off… No green flashing to say that it installed, no reboot..

from that momend the psp could read all the iso/cso games but only one of the 4 installed could be played.Everything else loads for some seconds (while in black screen) and then throws a message:
THe game could not be started 80020148.
I tried with umd mode and the other two (m33,sony np9660)but none of them solved the problem.
How can i run the other games??
johny bgood your other games might be .rar the other one might be .cso download something called wrar and you could turn them into cso problem solve

I was going to get a ds lite or dsi with a flash cart but thanks to and team typhoon I thought the new psp 2000s and 3000s would never be hacked, now hopefully now they have cfw gen-A that now hopefully darkALEX would come in and make a cfw m33. Should I get a 2000 or 3000 psp? I heard that the 3000’s screen had good anti glare but ghosty fast moving images
just for everyone out ther running chickhen r2 remember that everytime u run it a file called EFFHUNT.BIN is created on the memory stick
you have to delete this before you can run it again like if u turn it off etc…
have anyone experience your psp re-starts everytime you exit iso/cso game and had to re-do the 5.03GEN-A again..

Hey, i have a .CSO version of Coded Arms: Contagion and installed the CFW 5.03 GEN-A, i put it under the ISO folder, but i didn’t show up under game.
But before i had Megaman X (.iso) and it popped up in the game folder when i put it under ISO folder. what did i do wrong?

Three simple questions: First, Is it better to run the PSone games on “Gen-A” as ISO/CSO or can you convert them to eboots with PSXtoPSP program. Would the PSone converts still run that way. Question two is, would I have any issues with Sony-site downloaded games. For example I have the official eboot download of Crash Bandicoot 3 from sony or the Brain Challenge game. And is there any issues still running your other emulators (GBA, NES, GB) with “Gen-A” Thanks.

if your psp 3000 with 5.03 failed to load & turn off please try to format your memory stick then restore your psp to factory settings then try to load chickhen again & use 5.03 gen-a to enable custom firmware

curious…i am serious n00b….on psp’s that is, got it all down pat except 4 one thing how do i get the iso’s to work…keeps saying there corupt…installed chikhen and loader fine…..just cant figure out the iso bit…not sure im putting them in the right place…not sure where to put the .bin file that comes with the iso also….i no im a noob so please reframe from the insults isnt this why we have the forums so exp ppls can hlp us noobs!!!!??
Ok…so I copied the slim.tiff file in the PICTURE folder and I also copied the h.bin in the root of the psp…then what??? the readme file says that it should be sufficient for the PSP to reboot into CHikenHen..but.how does it Reboot it???? I mean..do I have to turn it off and then on again?? I also went into the Photo folder in my psp to see if I can open up the slim.tiff file and it says that the format is unsupported…Do i have to open it up or just wait until I install the 5.03 firmware??
ok..and one more thing…i double clicked LAUNCH-ME.exe file and I followed the steps from the tutorial…when i pressed start..some files appeared on my desktop…aren’t they suppossed to appear in the rooot of the PSP?? because I don’t get step #10….step #9 says that i should disconnect the psp..and that’s what i don’t get…i am supposed to launch EBOOT.PBP with chickenHEN on my psp..but nothing is on my psp…so..can anyone help me with this…i would be really greatful..thank YOU..!!!!!

I was bored so i flashed the 5.03 gen on my PSP phat (i know thats dumb ). But anyways it did not brick my PSP. Instead it just enabled a really cool vhs menu were i can post hand folders and access recovery menu easyly. Hope dark alex and team gen could work with this. The only off thing is that my firmware version now reads ”version 5.50” with no cfw tag. And all my games and apps now say ”data can not be read. data is corrupt” when i click on them. Well dc8 mod to the rescue.
So, does this permanently install CFW into my PSP? Or do I have to do this every time I turn it off (normally) and turn it back on?
Also, does this work on all slim 2000s or just the ta-88v3? Because I’m not sure if I have the v3, but I want to be safe.

When I try to run the “LAUNCH-ME” file on my desktop, it says: “To run this application, you must first install one of the following versions of the .NET framework: v2.0.50727 Contact your application publisher for instructions about obtaining the appropriate version of the .NET framework.” I don’t know what’s going on. Hey i got a problem. When i install Chickhen r2 and then update my psp stays hacked until the next reset then reverts back to the official psp firmware any solutions for this problem. The psp i have is the one from the dissidia (psp 3001) the board is a ta090 i believe
