Hello its got 16Gig internal memory, so plenty of room for games, films, ETC, as well as Bluetooth to connect with your Mobile phone.

I’ve seen a guy hook up his iPhone at school and connect to the Internet. So you never know. Plus if this thing can be hacked we can use it for blutooth keyboards.
Tethering can be done by Bluetooth, if you’ve followed the iPhone scene you would know that firmware 3.0 brings Bluetooth tethering to the iPhone.

I’ve done the same with my Voyager. All we need is a homebrew dialer program (might be difficult to code…) and we get internet anywhere with the PSP. Sounds great to me.
Same here, 2 psp-1000’s one modded one original both 5.0m33-6, both work great, and after seeing the new one coming out even with a better gaming spectrum i doubt id get one, i dont like the design, they didnt meet the demands that people asked of sony … im not impressed

I always wished my PSP had Bluetooth, so I could use it with Bluetooth headphones. I got a transmitter to plug in but it sucks.
Though even with Bluetooth support, I’d be surprised if it had Bluetooth stereo audio support. A lot of things don’t have that.

if they added something like an extra stick or touch screen, that would mean incompatibility of new software with older model psps.
that’s why (most likely) they’re adding the extra nub and touch screen and enhanced graphic chip to a completely new model all together. not just a small hardware update, but a complete overhaul.
WOW really. then why aren’t they calling it the psp 4000, and not the PSP2. The PSP2 is supposed to be a complete overhaul, and not adding any new features to it is a poor way to sell new hardware. Besides if Sony really wants to fix the custom firmware “problem” (I don’t see it as a problem) they should do a complete overhaul. If they continue to use the same architecture as the original PSP they it will continue to be hacked.

If you look around, You will find that the source for this information was not supposed to be available until the week of E3, Somehow it got past the attention of the Qore team that it was available for download now, It was a mistake, And this is real.

Sony and a lot of other software companies are trying to rid us of physical media. The software won’t be cheaper, and when you are done, you can’t sell it.
They say it isn’t supposed to replace the psp-3000…but don’t kid yourself. If sony can get away with it, they will get rid of the UMD and force people to purchase games only off their Playstation store. (That will be where the real profit will be…no physical media to produce..only bandwidth costs.)
Oh, don’t expect games to be much cheaper than the ones on UMD either… You are literally making a trade, convenience for your ability to resell. (And on top of this, when they discontinue servicing the system, don’t expect to be able to buy games after then…at least with physical media, once it is discontinued, you can still find it in various places like pawn shops, thrift stores, specialty game stores, ect..)

1) Never saw a charger output anywhere in the pics.
2) Doesn’t make sense for sony to put this out.

Details:
1) I looked all over the pics. I saw nothing that looked like a charger input. Perhaps it runs on AA/AAA too, you know, to save power (lmao)
2) Hardware wise:
Sony still sells UMD’s, memory sticks, etc. This PSP get’s rid of their big hardware sales. After this, they have batteries, headsets, cases, and that’s about it in the US.
Why would Sony purposely get rid of (without a doubt) their biggest hardware sales? Does not make any sense to me.
The design is just horrible. People constantly tell Sony that they want 2 analogue sticks, touch screen, etc. They didn’t do any of that (not much of a surprise).
2.5) Software wise:
Without a UMD drive I assume it will have access to a download service (Playstation Store). I personally would NOT EVER store my credit card info on something that can easily be stolen. My PS3 is one thing (that is a home console. That isn’t going anywhere unless someone moves it or steals it)but I know i wouldn’t stick personal info on things that can be stolen easily.
Why the hell would you need bluetooth on a PSP in the first place? Use a damn pair of headphones for music, use a damn headset for Skype. I see a long line of bluetooth attacks heading for this PSP (if it is real). This is inevitable especially is Java is involved.
No mention of any better software. No new software design, no new software features, no hint of it’s own new firmware, firmware specific downloads, etc.
This PSP is either:
A) A bad joke
B) Just a stupid move by Sony

16GB not enough? It will still have a memory stick slot, almost all of sony’s products have them.
I don’t understand why everyone thinks that everything sony does is about custom firmware. There are so many more users that don’t use it than there are that do. No company would spend that much money designing a whole new hardware revision just to make your life more difficult.
Also, lighter doesn’t mean cheaper. Look at LCD monitors – a heavy LCD is usually cheaply built. Compare materials like aerogel – density isn’t the same thing as structural efficiency, quality, or price.
The USB thing – likely that serial port type connection on the bottom will have an adapter. The point of this device to is combine as much hardware as possible into one area. by combining all ports and external connections into one area, they can just include an adapter for all that you need and make the design smaller. Look at how the Macbook includes a small video-out port that comes with an adapter for standard DVI. That is a great way to save space when it is a possible concern.
Another analog stick/touch screen would mean a huge software rewrite, and difficulty incorporating the changes to old and new software, which would be different per platform. This would not work very well for online games in my opinion.
The triggers are there, just smaller and behind the slide. Look closely at the pictures. They are black.
I know this is real because I saw it in a london drugs flyer, even though it said not available untill october i think. personaly I think they should have completed the psp 1000-3000 design and then done a complete overhaul of the psp. and this downloading digital copies of gaes is bullshit. and that has got to make your hands sore pretty quick.I think a clamshell design would have been better if they are chaning the design

You seem to have missed the single connector on the bottom. I assume that has function as a power input, video out, and use as a serial port. As for bluetooth, you cannot just “attack” it as you say. And where do you get that Java is involved anywhere, or that it makes it vulnerable to attack?
By the way, I like this design. Even smaller than the previous, built in memory, slide feature is interesting.
There aren’t enough details to make a decision yet. It may be faster, have a new firmware, et cetera. Then again, it might not be real at all.

This new psp can run homebrew then sony is all set. If not all that internal memory is useless and i won’t buy one until someone creates custom firmware for it. Homebrew alone would sell it. I modded my psp 2000 myself, xbox 360, ps2 and original xbox with 160GB HDD and boat loads of emulators and games on it. The only reason i didn’t buy a psp 3000 is it can’t run homebrew so i have no use for it.

So if someone in Canada wants this PSP Go (which why would they?) they won’t be able to purchase a single game unless they have a credit card. Smart thinking Sony since you hate Canada so much -_-.
I don’t understand why its so hard to release PSN Cards since Nintendo had Wii Point Cards out on day one and Microsoft has Xbox Live Points which they modify for each countries currency. Sony should’ve done points and not dollar values since it makes it easier to price.
I know in a way this is the wrong forum…but it does kind of coincide with Sony’s statement.
You remember when the Nintendo DS was released? Yeah, Nintendo made a big announcement that the DS would not replace the Gameboy Advance, that the 2 systems would be sold side by side on store shelves. Sure enough Nintendo discontinued the whole Gameboy line, against what their E3 promise said.
With no UMD Sony would be able to charge you all over again for all the games you play on your older PSPs. If the PSP Go is popular enough, they WILL discontinue the normal PSP line, in favor of higher profits. (No physical media, and they can sell the media directly through their service.)
This is a no-brainer for Sony to try to phase out the UMD…which also reducing the methods of attack, it would also probably remove the ability to hack it even further.
Oh, and the slide function, as neat as it looks…is the weak point of the system. Mobile phones with the slide feature don’t exactly last very long.
I hate where the analog stick is located. Not a smart decision to put the analog there.

i noticed no one has mentioned one thing yet, this is 1 of 2 real reasons, why this has no UMD or Disc of any kind:-
1)…This will try and stop Piracy, by activating the software, after downloading it from the PS Store, also have you noticed there is NO usb port, so no way of getting to that software to hack it in the first place, remember it uses 16 Gig internal Memory. think about it?
2)…and now the point no one has thought about yet, to stop you trading in games of course clever very clever, that way, we lose out yet again, as there will be no second hand games for this machine.
Of course the prices will drop eventually i suppose, probably 6 months later though.
No tit don’t has USB because has Bluetooth technology to transfer files witch in part is better than USB because you can be on another room and your PC in another and someone could just send you the data over USB.
Although that reduces the chance of “The Man” (DAX) hacking this bullshit PSP.

It looks like a sd card slot or MicroSD Card slot, but that would be separate to the Internal memory, that card slot is only for your game saves/Pictures/Music ETC

I have read almost every post up to this point here and I think the overall opinion is we… the consumer… find this hardware lacks luster. I for one was expecting a larger screen, dual nubs, the same expectations we all have…A GAMING PLATFORM.
The PSP was marketed as a handheld gaming console. This new PSP seems to be marketed more towards a PS3 add-on.
Perhaps this is why Sony is keeping both models( the 3000 and the “go” ) on the store shelves.
I dont think I like it as it sits. I want more than what they are offering.

1.) Sony wouldn’t get rid of UMD. They worked hard for the UMD market share and in just one snap, GONE! This could be the top reason why people would prefer to stick on teir current psp’s [not to mention about cfw]
2.) No charger port! I looked all over the pics and guess what, no charger port. How the hell am I going to charge this thing, eh? Don’t tell me they’ve been into the 3D dimension and incorporated their new design onto the new PSP [Air-Powered, HandGripped-Powered, PowerLess]
3.) No backwards compatibility for older accessories. First, no charger port, Second, no AV out just earphones, lastly, no USB port. LOL. How are we gonna store files onto the 16 GB Flash memory if there is even no USB port? Wireless transfer through bluetooth? I think not! Still, a wired transfer is faster than a wireless transfer! And what? They’re just gonna release a THING that would obsolete older stuff’s such as the battery pack, the av cables, etc. Come on!!!

It looks dope, design wise.
It should certainly have a 2nd analog nub instead of the start & select buttons right there.
Those 2 buttons could easily fit above the analog nubs, just like the console ps controllers.
No touch screen is a let down as well.
It can’t keep up w/ the iPhone because so many cool apps use a touch screen.
I understand that the 1 nub & a no touch screen design will keep all past games developed working. Any future games will work on both PSP models as well.
It seems like an upgrade only in the looks category. I have a big MS stick.
Sony isn’t really releasing a new PSP it is just a style upgrade like the DS Lite or the slimmy.
As I said I would rather see this design w/ a new analog stick & a touch screen.
Then it would be a true new PSP.
This seems like a test product to see how well downloadable games sell vs. the actual UMD (physical) games.
The bottom line: If I need a new PSP I’d buy it, but us current owners have no reason to switch.

Yeah the days of going to the store and buying a game for “this PSP” are probably
coming to an end. Sony wants to crack down on piracy. Make people download games so they can be registerd to the user, and have a unique ID placed on the software so it can’t be used on someone elses PSP. Sony of course won’t leave you high and dry. Just log on to good’ole PSN and download it again if you delete by accident. Of ourse, knowing Sony, that will be your only means of a back up. No way they are going to let you back it up to a PC.
No point in buying this if you don’t have an internet connection. Otherwise it’s just a paper weight. The only thing that might save this is that proprietary cartridge slot, if it is in fact that. They should have gone cartridge from the start if they can fit 1.8 gig on optical media like UMD they can do it for a rom chip. I mean, come on! They sell 2gb flash memory under 50 bucks. I shall watch E3 this week and see if this prototype is the real deal.

first off, i think this is completely real. if not, sony has gone through A LOT of work to sell it as real, even going as far as to fake a qore video. i think its real.
second, in terms of dual analog nubs, i agree that it would make it hard for developers having to program two different games, one for the go and the other for the 3000, which is assuming they dont drop the 3000 anyway. same goes for a touch screen.
however, since im not going to rebuy my entire game library, if some developers choose to develop exclusively for the go, 2 nubs would be nice.
as for the overall design, i dont think its too small, it is after all a Go!. the emphasis being more so on portability. the slide feature is catchy but will probably crap out. as for bluetooth, if they can capitalize on online gaming with a headset or maybe for small file transfer, either between computer and psp or two Go!’s it might b worth it.

They have shifted focus to the masses and are trying to cater to those are not game hobbyists. Things like a 2nd nub and such is no concern to the unwashed masses. They want small, “cute”, light, and “neat” features like sliding screens and such. They are not gamers and will only want to play a game that lasts 5-10 min and don’t want to play any thing that is “complicated and boring”. Gamers will just have to wait until the fad passes and these companies will need us to buy their products after the mainstream has moved on.

The main reason Sony is releasing the GO is for these 2 reasons.
First to shift the consumers away from buying UMD’s in stores to using their own PSN, thus cutting costs by removing the retailer ‘middleman’. This move will experiment with the market, and hopefully pave the way for the next REAL PSP 2, by which time it would have been fully accepted by us.
Secondly, even though the new PSP’s design seems flawed, ie by having no 2nd stick, no touch screen, etc, they went with THIS design because the total cost of research and production of this unit will be waaaaaaaay less than if they continued producing the PSP 3000 (just trust me on that).
So basically, Sony, unlike their competitors don’t care about their consumer base and giving them what they need, instead, only giving them what they think they ‘want’. Which is another way for Sony to increase their profits and reduce costs. Thats what they have proved with their PSP GO. Thanks again Sony…
If there is no UMD slot, my biggest concern is importing games. It is a lot of work to get stuff off other PSN stores, and it costs me more than it would to just buy the game offline and rip it to my MS.
Other than that, a simple hardware change doesn’t bug me that much. It would have been nice to do all of this say..3 years ago. But it’ll sell. And honestly, when CFW is running on it, I will probably buy one, 16GB is damn appealing. I mean, I have a 4GB stick now and I plenty of stuff on there with all those emulators, and still some room for music since my MP4 player was stolen last month :(
Let’s see a price point, though. If it’s going to be on the market with the 3000, I bet it’s going to be damn near $300, since it’s not competing for the same users.

In place of the umd slot use space for mini usb internal upgrade, so gps/extra memory can be added inside rather than outside of the psp.
The screen can come in two versions one is OLED and the cheaper uses a cheaper screen.

I think, after the disaster better known as the psp 3000, sony made an obvious decision: make a psp which can be hacked easily; sony has itself said that hacked psps increase their hardware sales….so they made one complete with 16 gigs of memory so tat games can be easily saVED; and removed umds to make it slimmer and lighter…COZ APPARENTLY (i read it smwere, m not sure),downloadable games are easier 2 hack….
