Custom Firmware Enabler v1.0 Released: ISO/UMD Backup Support via ChickHEN

I’ve got good news, even more good news, and sadly, some bad news… First, the good stuff: Xenogears and Becus25 have released Custom Firmware Enabler v1.0. This will enable select features — everything but POPs and the recovery console — that are present in most custom firmwares… And yeah, I’m talking ISO (backups of your legitimately owned UMDs) support, baby! Even better: ISOs are working with handhelds sporting the TA-088v3 motherboard. Now onto the bad news… I’m sorry PSP-3000 users — no ISO support for you, not yet anyway.
How to use Custom Firmware Enabler?
- Copy the CFWEnabler folder to your ms0:/PSP/GAME/ directory.
- Run ChickHEN R2 to enable homebrew.
- Start the app called “CFW Loader for ChickHEN”. The first time it will ask you to install the CFW modules to flash0 by pressing circle; then press “X” to start.
With that said, CFW Enabler does in fact write to Flash0. So please exercise caution when using this homebrew; i.e.) Do not turn off your PSP while the modules are flashed.

I agree, we need to stop pirating, we’re hurting the system. The other Home brew is great but leave stealing and pirating out of it.

If I like a game, I go out and buy it. I am sick of being shafted by the game companies. Ratings hardly mean anything anymore. (As they can buy their ratings…or have been known to take comments way out of context.)
Anyways, the physical media is more important to me. If I try a game before buying, if I like the game, I do buy it.
I don’t even try before buy. I just buy straight up, yet I still have CFW. I use it mostly for the plugins, and the PS1 games I own so i don’t have to buy them again.
uh well just one question before i install, when i safely turn off my psp, will the system firware revert back to 5.03 offical Sony firmware? or rather will it remain as 5.03 M33? My only question. Thanks for your replies

I give it a month before we see a CFW on v3 and 3000 series psps. Almost there. Too bad i wont buy a 3000 due to its ‘feature’ of having scanlines.
PSP 3k screen is A-OK, people who complain about scanlines have either never seen one or are just bitching to hear themselves bitch. Bitching about ghosting in the 1k and 2k line, however, would be a very much valid complaint.

scanlines rock! lol, seriously. they’re not making/supplying psp-2000 anymore. so for those who want a bnew psp, they’ve got no choice but to get the psp-3000. or buy some refurbished or used older model psp’s like psp-1000 (fat) and psp-2000 (slim).
But you can still readily buy the PSP-2000 thru Amazon, Dell, Target, etc.
For gods sake the 3000s CANNOT have cfw just yet… Once sony finds out, they’ll patch it in the 4000 Motherboard!

but for the love of god dont relase the 3000 until 4000 comes out..

crap!! is there a way for get to flash 0 from not loading a progrman for hen?..like the psp phat menu i flashed a custom bootgame and it locks up the homebrew that i try to load..i need to get to flash zero so i can manualy replace a pluging. well it frezes when trying to boot the gameboot… this sucks.. thay need to tell people that some gameboots dont work when your trying to flash.. if any devellopers are reading this can you plz.. make a flah 0 menu so i can replace that file with the original… thank you.. im not sure if it even possible at this point.. if not let me know so i can figure what im going to do with it.

so does this program allow you to load .iso/.cso files for all PSP-2000s without changing the firmware to like an M33 or something? I couldn’t use the Pandora Bat on mine and read some forums on how the PSP-2000 with 4.01 couldn’t be modded (yet). Thanks in advance!
you are stupid. my psp slim came with 4.01 and my pandora battery worked on it, i had M33 firmware within 3 minutes of opening the box.

??? What are you talking about??? why would you need the VSH menu to have Flash 0? obviously we already have access to it, because it works on the unhackable TA-088v3 MoBos Via ChickHen, its just not blatantly displayed like on an M33 CFW
well i used a program called gameboot flasher and i flashed a gameboot. and this happend.. i cant load anything anymore.. i need a vsh menu so it can toggle flash 0 so i can manualy replace the original plugin so it can boot normaly i made a video check it out..

i need to get to flash 0 so i can manualy replace a gameboot.pmf file.. i tryed using one with gamebootflasher and everytime i load a homebrew it freezes. at psp logo.. it give me a black square at the to makes funy noises and it hangs and it shuts off the psp.. i cant load pspfiler or any homebrew at all at this point .. im stuck untill some dev makes a program like vsh menu to toggle through flash zero so when i load a usb it goes into flash 0.

Go to the MforMature forums(the one that Davee Frequents) i read a post on there forums earlier that had to consist of exactly the problem that your having, they had a fix and im people were saying it worked so give it a try if it works please come back and tell me :)

try this:
put a gameboot flasher on your MS
navigate to it’s icon
turn off your screen(hold brightness button)
press X
wait 10-30 seconds
turn on screen(press brightness button)

i know what im doing.. all i did is what thay told me to do.. but the gameboot was bad or something.. i had gamebootflasher all i did is this..
1st. download files (bottom of thread)
2nd. Unzip the zip file and place the folder inside(gamebootflasher) in PSP–>game
3rd. download your custom gameboot.pmf and place it in the folder “gamebootflasher” as gameboot.pmf
4th. Start the program, and there will be a sentence that says “press X to flash your gameboot.” “press O to flash sony gameboot” Press [] to exit to XMB(incase you change ur mind…)”
5th. Press X for gameboot and wait about 3 seconds for gameboot and 10 seconds for theme, you will be confirmed completion with a sentence on the bottom that says “Done, please shutdown the PSP..!”
6th. You may exit by turning off the PSP or by home button (not recommended, unexpected side effects may occur)
7, the PSP should go to the XMB normally, start your game and your custom gameboot should appear.
and thats it!!! your good to go!!!
but thay dident say that not all gameboots work with gamebootflasher… its there fault for not specifying what not gameboots not to use.. thay assume all gameboot.pmf work but thay dont.
thats why i was hopping that davee is gonna add a flash 0 toggle option on the next vsh menu.. so i can recover my original .pmf file

You have to load it every time you boot your psp as you require homebrew environment(the chickHEN does) to allow cfe 1.0 to run.
I have slim en lite with that crap motherboard. If i run this i will be able to install custom firmware? and run backupd iso games?
You will not be able to install custom firmware. But you will be able to use some features of CFW like playing ISO’s off your memory stick etc etc…

i think u have to go to VSH menu and change the ISO driver or something like that. You can go to VSH menu, by clicking on select in XMB.

At the first time you have to only write the M33 files to the flash. Its only required the first time and do not over write!(this is important as your touching your flash)
Then after pressing X your psp is 5.00 M33 !
Then rebooting the psp will give you official 5.03 fw. Then the same process will have to carried on again for M33. Its M33 just on a temporary basis which allows iso/cso to run.

Ya it is possible, i have the same psp 2k (4.01 ofw which came with it) but u can make it to 5.00 M33 only temporarily, which resides in RAM, using chickHEN R2(which is a homebrew enabler) which then allows Custom Firmware Enabler 1.0 to run making your psps a M33, thus allowing iso/cso to run. This process has to be done every time you boot your psp. Was waiting 6 months for this release !!!
lol its alright dude i used to have them same type of questions and get shot down, if u ave a psp 2000 without a ta88v3 mother board then u can use a pandoras battery and magic memory stick along with delcemitao or whatever its called to mod your psp straight to 500m3306 that will let you play cso’s and isos

A simple noob question, do I just put the ISOs on the root of the memory stick? Or do they go in a specific folder?
In the root of the ms0 you create a folder “ISO” and you put the ISOs there.

If you have ChickHEN R2 in your psp1000, then you may try it…
But u can always install CFW on 1000 with pandora and MMS….

First u need to update your firmware to 4.03ofw… search for it in this website.
Once you upgrade to 5.03, u will be able to run ChickHEN.

1.do ineed a pandora battery or a magic memory stick for this method of hacking?
2.my firmware is 6.10 so do i need to downgrade first?
3.my psp broke so i used the warranty and i dont know if they fixed my psp or sent me a new one(probably new) it had the green plastic to protect the screen but it was in a ups box and didnt come with a new battery. it cme with the firmware 5.something and i dont know if it has the new motherboard.its a psp 2001 by the way
