Netfront Internet Browser Beta 4 – HighMemoryMod w/ ChickHEN Support

In light of the triumphant ChickHEN, Ardatan returns to the scene with a HighMemMod release for everyone — Netfront Internet Browser Beta 4. Not only does beta 4 introduce PSP-3000/ChickHEN support, you can now password protect browser access for your own safety.
And for those not in the know: Team P86’s “High Memory Mod” removes certain limitations giving whatever application more memory to play with. As a result, when used with Netfront, you’ll experience a much faster and more responsive browsing experience.
Netfront Internet Browser Beta 4 changes:
- Annoying prompt was removed.
- HEN support was added (PSP-3000 support).
- The theme was changed (EBOOT music, background etc…).
- It is more stable.
- Password Protected Version is added.
See the included README for notes concerning HEN support and the newly added password protection feature.

32mb is for phat psp, 64mb is for 3000 or slim psp

it DOES work for the phat
it is limited to the 32MB unlike the 2000 or 3000 which has 64MB of ram although the 3000 using chickHen is limited to 32MB
even on the Phat it is still a hell of a lot faster than the built in browser

I am a bit confused about the vsh plugin to be added to flash0.
There is already a htmlviewer_plugin.prx residing in flash0.
Should I just overwrite it?
What is the purpose of the original prx anyway?
This is so that when you click on internet browser in the xmb, the psp redirects itself to this homebrew instead. Just overwrite it.
on psp 3000 chickhen it seems to be even slower
It IS much slower because the clock speed might not have been overclocked to 333mhz. This is basicly what it looks like now if you measure the speed of each psp.

how do i install this on my psp. its a slim 2000.
On my Phat, I like to use Opera Mini better – except that in Opera, there are some compatibility issues.
I downloaded this into game folder on my psp and tried running it, it goes to the sony startup screen thing but then the screen goes black and then my psp turns off. Any ideas?

so Ive copied the plug in to vsh and replaced the legit plug in. Do I still need to launch from GAME or is the built in browser now the same as the eboot
Yep, you can use the built in browser icon as eboot. It even starts up faster than normal with that. You don’t get a boot logo ;)
for those who forgot to backup their file (Like me)
Download the latest PSAR Dumper and your firmware 5.00
save the firmware eboot.pbp (don’t change name ex. 500.pbp leave it EBOOT.PBP) to the root of your mem stick after running PSAR you can get the file right from your mem stick in the f0 folder
(I had to do the same thing because I didn’t back up mine.)

The VSH plugin doesn’t work! Putting it in flash0:/vsh/module/ and trying to use the Web Browser results in it trying to load, failing, and then the PSP restarts.
I’m using 5.00 M33-6.

Whenever I tried to log off my netfront, my psp will hang at the “please wait” screen.
Does anyone have the same problem as me?
