ChickHEN Homebrew Enabler Released: Homebrew on PSP-3000!

Update: Ok, try this… It’s an unofficial fix from maibrithahn; re-download ChickHEN below. Apparently an official fix will be issued tomorrow.
Update: Well… I just tried it, and funny enough, it doesn’t work… You’re dumped into the HEN environment; however, homebrew is not enabled. After further investigation it seems I’m not the only one experiencing this. Stay tuned.
The slump is over PSP-3000 owners — Team Typhoon has released their much-anticipated Homebrew Enabler — ChickHEN R1.
ChickHEN takes advantage of MaTiAz’s discovered TIFF exploit enabling all styles of homebrew to be executed on PSP-1000, 2000, and now 3000 models. When ChickHEN is initialized it performs a kernel exploit and reboots the PSP into HEN mode; ChickHEN remains resident in memory allowing you to launch your homebrew from the XMB like it ain’t no thang.
What ChickHEN does NOT do:
- Run ISO, CSO, or any other form of UMD backup
- Run PSX Games
- Touch The Flash
- Allow the use of Custom Firmware
- Load plugins
How to use ChickHEN:
- First off use the supplied TIFF image and place it in the PSP>PHOTO Directory.
- Copy h.bin over to the MS ROOT and safely remove device.
- Scroll over to the PHOTO icon on the XMB and click the ChickHEN folder and wait. (This will not work the first time, you may have to just use a method of loading that works for you but this is what we have found most efficient).
- If all goes well the screen should blank out and flash green showing that the HEN is loaded and all is well.
- Wait for your PSP to reboot and check your PSP’s system software. It should now display: “5.03 ChickHEN”.
- Scroll on over to GAME and enjoy some Homebrew!

Big advancements I suppose. Although I don’t own the 3000 it’s nice to see some progress on this. I hope they can get more done before the “PSP 2″ or whatever hits.

Since you can load custom firmwares with this, wouldn’t that mean that you can downgrade to an earlier version and then play ISO/CSO files?

You can’t load custom firmwares on this. Sheesh man, it says in the readme.. And no you can’t downgrade, the slightest touch of flash0 would most probably brick your psp-3000
I don’t understand what that means bricking your psp? care to elaborate?
if you brick your psp then your psp is basically a brick that you cant do anything with.
e.g the firmware becomes corrupt so it wont turn on.
its similar to how a non working recorded dvd may be refered to as a coaster.
If you want a simplified example of a brick, it would be like if you uninstalled windows. Your hardware works, but you are unable to load up the operating system. The only difference is that there is no way to reinstall that operating system on a PSP (except Pandora’s battery, which isnt on 3000). Your PSP can now effectively be used as a paperweight!
This is good news for 3000-series users

How do you unbrick your psp?
you need a pandora battery but if you have a psp that cant run m33 firmware then it will also not run pandora. at this point if you brick a 3000 or the 88v3 then its good bye psp.
Thanks lol, now I know not to try anything stupid till something that really works for it comes out. Hopefully we can run CSO/ISO files soon.

I just made a nand dump with the fixed chicken hen an Open Nanddumper 3xx.
I guess nand will be accessible with this HEN.

works fine on my psp ta088v3 5.03… the only thing is i cant connect to the intenet with hen..
It works like a charm, and yes homebrew is working just fine (bookr and gpSP)
have you tryed psptube yet? i cant get it to work right. it loads the program right but it gives me a network error.
I don’t think the networking is “working” atm, A lot of other people also couldn’t get the networking to run in HEN either.
i got the internet to work now.. but still not psptube.. strange.. i found a bug where when you do the hen trick to restart to get chicken mode the sound stops working.. im going to try to reset it and try again… another bug i incountered was when i was going to my network and went to set it up, i entered the txt menu and there i couldent get to where i can have the newsest typing option, you know the keyboard looking one.. other then that everything looks and runs great.. the only program that im runing right now is snes.. a big thanks to the guy who created this by the way. keep up the good work. :)

me too goddamnit i bricked my psp 1001 permanently (pandora loads someetimes but has problems reflashing flash0 tried at least 20 times) cant wait i got a psp 3000 for christmas (cheaply made, i like my 1001 much better and i paid for the 1001)
me to dude, i loved my 1001.. then water messed it all up screwed my pandora as well.. so i went out to get another psp thinking i could just hack that but i got that a ta088v3 mobo not knowing it coulding be hacked at that time.. so i was stuck with it.. im glad for this though..
I can’t get it to work. Whenever I try, my PSP freezes and turns off.
I currently have a Madden 09 blue PSP with FW 5.03
It doesn’t to my PSP 3000 too
It always be freeze and auto switch off after a while waiting
I don’t understand why it was like that but i’ve checked all the requirement for chickHEN:
– Version 5.03
Sometimes i switch on after it switch off because using chickHEN, it lose its sound and i must reboot my system to reactivate the sound ( what the damned shit! )

final i try, replace a MS 1G (origin) of my sony cypershoot success.
i turn off and replace MS 4G and my psp continue turn off

Hi , My psp 3000 iS oFFIciaal Bricked i turn it on and i have black screen , how i fix it warranty , i send it back to sony, and belive me they don’t even know that you used HEN , ;) Now i have it back the same psp , every things is same , sony just set some on it and it worked again . so if u have this problem NO PANIC , just Relax , go in the car ride where u buy it say my psp can’t open , i don’t know what happend , and they take after 1,5 Week they cal u come and get u psp its fixed ? This sucks, I have version 5.02 which doesnt support HEN but the version 5.03 update dosent let you play games, if you dont belive me, google 5.03 update and you will see complaints about people not being able to play games on version 5.03.

In the other website, they said that they’ve tried about 70 times and it successed. I don’t believe it because PSP 3000 is a system, one times you can’t hack it, many times after it will can’t success if you using the same way. And “reply MS and you will success” can success with other system but not mine or some other PSP 3000 system. I think, the chickHEN homebrew is still not totally perfect like the hacking homebrew of Dark Alex
hey, when i try on my PSP 3000 that one is not working like when i go psp>photo>tiff image on the psp says unsupported file so what i can do and also i copy the .bin file on M:/

i loaded 5.00 m33-4 using hellcats recovery flasher in chickHen mode. and the cfw is permanant.
