PSN License Manager v0.17 Released
greg | April 14, 2009
If you’re an avid downloader of [legitimate] PSP titles from multiple regions — the US or Europe for example — then you may find an interest in Light_AleX’s PSN License Manager. Here’s the situation laid out –
Under NORMAL circumstances
- I create an account for the US PlayStation Store.
- I create an account for the EUROPE PlayStation Store.
- I see “Patapon 2″ available on the EU PlayStation Store.
- However, I have already bought things on the US PlayStation Store.
To buy and play “Patapon 2 (EU)”, I would have to do the following.
- Connect to US PlayStation Store.
- Deactivate system for GAME content.
- Delete account on PSP and login with the EU account.
- Activate system for “Patapon 2″.
- Play games.
To switch back, I would have to reverse the above process and end up limited again to my US games.
The above process would waste a LOT of time due to:
- – Requires WiFi access.
- – The length of the process.
- -Would be terribly confusing during multi-region situations.
Now, with PSN License Manager 0.17, you can remove all the hassle.
That’s it, that’s all. For now…

I don’t get it.
Aside from maybe bonus content, whats the point of downloading different versions of the same game? To get access to a wider variety of games is indeed very nice, few from EU, few from JPN, all over… but whats the point of buying the same game?
I think this one is usefull when a game comes out on different dates in different regions. Then if you want to play a game, you have to use the account for the correct region. This is the time when this tool is handy.
true, but (save for games that are not in your native language) if you already have it… why buy it again?
Like, if a game comes out in EU two months before it comes out in US, of course I would want to buy the EU version.
But then, why would I also want to buy the US version two months later? They should (usually) be the exact same thing…
I mean, if its like a JPN game, that your buying to be able to play it before it comes to US, then that I can imagine buying again in English….
That isn’t the point. It would be pretty foolish to buy the same twice as you describe. Some games come out first in US, some come out first in EU. You would only need to buy any game once.
Never mind, I read the original description wrong.
“3 I see “Patapon 2″ available on the EU PlayStation Store.
4 However, I have already bought things on the US PlayStation Store.”
I thought it said “I have already bought the thing on the US PlayStation Store.”.
My bad.
Who’s Light Alex?
Ether someone who wanted to be cool like Dark Alex, but didnt want to steal him name directly….
Or Dark Alex under yet again a new name.
Maybe he’s not as fat as dax
Well, I think its a jab at the conception that “Dark” Alex is for piracy and helping pirates while “Light” Alex is for those who still buy their games legitimately. Whatever.
maybe light alex is the opposite of dark alex, gner destroy the psp hacking community while the dark is the gd version for us but bad for sony.lol
Maybe you should learn how to spell.
WIN lol
how about learn to not care.lol
How about you use proper grammar. And learn how to use the space bar.
i spell, i don’t know how to read slang due to me being a moron
Nice release, should help out those who pay legitimate for early releases in different regions.
Also love the spin on the name, I am presuming this is Dark Alex’s split personality lol (Hope Light Alex doesn’t decide to help combat the custom firmwares…) Especially if they both are the original Alex as that would make him a very busy bunny indeed lmao! ;-)
