greg | April 5, 2009

Ah, much better… Netfront Internet Browser Beta 2 by Team P86. All those problems you noted are done for… So upgrade quick and continue browsing oh so fast. HighMemoryMod removes the browser’s memory limitations leaving the full 32MB (Fat) or 64MB (Slim) available.

Netfront High Memory Mod

Netfront – HighMemoryMod Beta 2 changes:

  • Selection of the destination directory problem is now fixed.
  • Used memory is always max. (Not Automatic).
  • Now it shows at startup the max memory which is used.
  • The code is cleaned.
  • New interface at start up and exit.
  • Added a music and good theme to EBOOT (Thanks to Mazide).
  • EBOOT is now smaller (Thanks to Mazide).
  • You can quit the browser from HOME button.
  • “Free RAM/Reset” func. added. This func. cleans all of RAM which is used.(At the exit dialog/Circle).

Personally, I don’t find much use in this as an eboot. I’d certainly love to see a firmware mod with these changes though. Hopefully that is their eventual goal with this project.

No…
The XMB menu takes up an excessive amount of ram space all they could do is re-route the Internet Browswer Icon to this homebrew…
And they don’t plan to do that, that may only be a after the final version thing..

And i still can’t start the Internet browser with this all it does is show me that i have a slim and then bam! the only thing that pops up is the Quit menu when i press the “home” button…

I had the same problem you and “OrderZero” below have. I was using CXMB and using a CTF. (Apparently, this happens whenever you are using a CTF) Just disable it and change it back to the original Sony xmb theme OR disable CXMB and this high memory mod browser will work.

(It’s a problem that the developers are aware of)

Doesn’t work boots up asks if you want to exit press home if you want to reset/clear ram press O you press O it goes black then repeats the question so you put home and it exits..

You have to insert a quarter.

Or, read the docs.

This is worse than the default browser… It runs SOOOO slowly while loading pages, it doesn’t even matter if it has max memory. D:

@ Tha new guy

When you unzip the file there are more folders than you need, below is the layout.

HtmlMax_Eng_v4 (folder)
HtmlMax_Eng(folder)<–Use this folder
ProtectedHthmlMax_Eng
vsh(folder)

Dump the HtmlMax_Eng folder into your games directory. The other folders are for more advanced stuff so I’d just keep it simple and use this one.

I do agree though, as a new person there is a lack of point form “put this folder into here” type of instructions for a lot of these homebrew apps. I had a heck of a time trying to get Remotejoy installed because I couldn’t find any instructions on how to reference the prx plugins. Google is your friend but even then some of the info on this stuff is scarce. As for the community here, its great that you’re helping put this stuff out there but keep in mind not all of us are developers. Try to think back to when you first got into this stuff, everyone was a newb at some point and needed a little help and not all newbs are morons. End rant.
