PSPVC v3.50 Released: The PSP Video Converter
greg | February 14, 2009
Some release worthy changes come featured in Nick’s latest version of PSP Video Converter. Those are detailed below while I give the PSPVC recap — convert just about any video format to a PSP compatible format with a few simple clicks.
You should also know with PSPVC Server, which is included, you’re able to convert and access your videos directly from your PSP — anywhere, anytime — when nearby some WiFi.
PSPVC v3.50 changes:
- Added a “preview” option that displays the current converted video frame
- All settings (Framerate, Resolution, Image Tweaks and Subtitles) can be previewed when using the “Trim” options for instant view of changes in the setup
- Added a “Pause Conversion” option to the process priority list
- Added a VobSub filter for subtitles (now activated by default)
- Added option to show/hide all video settings (now hidden by default)
- Easier to select a preset
- Improved “Tweak Image” options
- Improved extraction of embedded subtitles
- Added new presets
- Misc improvements
- Minor changes in the GUI layout

Not bad. Some nice little updates that are packed in here. Will download very soon. Still the best converter available imo.

Just give ppl their joy of accomplishment
hey will there ever be a program that can be installed on the psp and can just play all or most video types natively without the need for conversion? wouldn’t that be much more efficient?
Much harder process to create that…
(i might be wrong but if i wasn’t then would’nt there already be one??)
It would be possible to do that for other MPEG-4 based videos to a certain extent, if you could hook the built-in hardware accelerator in the right way. Not sure if that’s been done or not.
Anything else – say the MPEG-2 used in a DVD – wouldn’t work very well at all. The PSP has a zippy little processor for a portable, but isn’t much compared to a real computer.
If you want fast PSP videos just use Handbrake. Also has profiles for PS3, 360, etc. etc. etc. Totally free, open source, all that nice stuff.
I use Handbrake and AnyDVD to rip and recode a DVD – direct from the DVD – in about 35 minutes for a 2-pass encode. (Overclocked I7, hehe)
