PSPWeb!Cam v0.1 Released
greg | February 4, 2009
For anyone sporting the PSP Go!Cam or Chotto Shot camera, this would be for you… Turn your PSP camera into a wireless webcam for your Windows PC, or snap pictures and send them to a remote computer over a wireless connection. This is Roman’s initial release, and with that said, PSPWeb!Cam currently does 10 frames per second, but improving on that as well as other features — it’s all planned for later versions.
Click here to see PSPWeb!Cam in action. Boom, rickrolled. Anyway, what’s planned for the future of PSPWeb!Cam –
- Address resolver.
- Improve F.P.S.
- Add a nice GUI.
- Add more effects such as Flames, Snow, Etc…
- Possibly add a Windows Live Plugin that enables a two way video chat.

Not bad at all. Suprising that no-one has released anything like this before.
Makes me wonder whether there’s any potential homebrew to be had for the GPS receiver….
WTF!? You mean to tell me that you’ve never heard of Map This! or any other homebrew using GPS, cuz there are quite a few. You been livin under a rock bro.
‘map this’ is fine but ‘go!explore’ does the job fine for me. i was thinking more along the lines of some gps games like there are on the iphone
annnnnyway, let’s hope for the continued progress of this item. Could be potentially excellent. maybe sony should take note of this as a P.O.C
uhh not bad though i don’t give a crap about webcams…
but still i might use it later as one
so keep going hope you guys get better fps
yeah. the youtube link it’s not good
it is for rickrollin’ someone.
did you not notice the “rickroll” part…
lol, rick-rolling is so 2006
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65I0HNvTDH4
this is the new thing
i am rickrolled
o my god i have to die :D
Unsuccessful rickroll was unsuccessful.
Anyway, I’ve been looking forward for something like this since I got my first PSP.
Unfortunately I lost my fucking camera.
Are the cameras that unpopular, that nobody’s done this before? I’ve been looking for a camera, but I’ve never seen one.
lol the video was so random
i got this program off of psp-hacks and extracted everything to a folder on my computer like it says…..when I try to run the install.bat it said “The module vcam.ax failed to load”. I have them in the same place so I don’t know what I am doing wrong. How am I supposed to install this on the computer properly and to be able to run the homebrew?
Lol, its good to see my app being posted on sites i’ve never heard of before (adding this one to my favorites XD).
anyway, that youtube video was taken during the beta stage as a “Proof of Concept” i’ll update that vid soon to a more appropiate lol.
I hope you guys enjoy that app!
Cheers
Roman
damn! cant someone make a web cam app without the need for a pc!
sadly the psp scene seems to have died for me. the last great piece of homebrew that i’ve seen is that game jelly car. this is a good attempt to bring web cam to pc but for the price of a chottoshot i dont think its going to be seeing many downloads.
to be honest i think everythings all ready been invented homerew wise for psp we have pspradio, gps, webcam, tv remotes everything you can think of we can pretty much do it on our psp’s even if it’s not that great.
rickroll…………..
u basterd
..u got me :(
God Damnit, i followed the instructions but when i load up the app on my psp and connect to my router (yes i’ve configured my ip)it says Connected to access point, Could not connect. can anyone please help ? i dont know what to do :S
Can you guys help me because ive tried putting my 192 ip and my other ip in and it still doesnt connect :@ and whats this 1300 port ? im confused this is too complicated
If you’re using WinXP (not sure if this is the case for Vista but presume not) you will need to install MS Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (just do a search on Google for it) in order for the vcam.ax to register. (Roman – Please put this in your readme.txt as it took me a while to track it down)
Unfortunately I still can’t connect (I’m using a router so I’m trying to connect to a PC in the LAN), tried tweaking my firewall and application filters but it makes no difference – was it tested as working on WinXP?
Cheers

Nooooooo!!! I’ve been rickrolled!!!
hmm… i can’t connect either.
it says:
“Connected to Access Point!
Conneting, attemp 1 out of 5…
Could not conenct, retrying in 5 seconds…
Connecting, attempt 2 out of 5…
etc… etc…” and the ‘conenct’ there must be just a typo the programmer forgot to recheck but that doesn’t matter now wouldn’t it, we just need help on how to deal with this. hopefully a newer much better version will come it. :) :D
Anyone know what’s wrong and how to fix it. I’m using windows xp sp3. fat psp cfw 5.00 m33-6.

sorry bout the double post since there’s no edit. anyway, i know what seems to be the problem. the port is supposed to be 13000 and not 1300 as what is used in the default setting. so change the default 1300 to 13000 and it should work out fine.
a) i couldnt get this to work
b) i cant delete the VCam.ax file off my pc, does ne1 know how?
Mick0204 – Did you install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 and set the port to 13000 as ov3rkill said?
To remove it you have to unregister the vcam.ax service first, you can use the following method:
1) go to “start menu” > “run”
2) type the following in the run box and press click ok:
cmd
3) type the following into the black command prompt box followed by enter:
cd c:\pspwebcam
(or wherever the vcam.ax file is)
4) type the following into the black command prompt box followed by enter:
regsvr32 /u vcam.ax
5) restart your PC and you should be able to delete it
neet. must have 2 way video chat tho! lookin forward to updates :)
