LEDA – Legacy Software Loader Beta 0.1
greg | February 2, 2009
Introducing Dark_AleX’s LEDA: the Legacy Software Loader for older 1.0/1.50 compiled homebrew. This means any homebrew requiring the 1.50 kernel may be usable under CFW 5.00 M33 without the kernel add-on, even on the PSP Slim. Now keep in mind, LEDA is currently beta leaving compatibility unknown at this time. Please comment with your experience below should you have success or failure with whatever homebrew.
PSP Fat users may also take advantage of LEDA despite the already working 1.50 kernel add-on. Like anything, LEDA has both its pros and cons –
LEDA Advantages:
- It works on the PSP Slim too
- It doesn’t require much flash space
- You don’t need to care about which folder your homebrew is in. LEDA first tries to load the homebrew program normally. If it works, then the homebrew is a 3.XX+ one, and LEDA terminates itself to not waste RAM. Otherwise, LEDA does some patches to load the 1.0/1.5 homebrew.
- Unlike 1.50 kernel add-on, LEDA tries to be independent of firmware. This means that whenever a new version of M33 is released, LEDA will probably work without need of an update.
LEDA Disadvantages:
- Less compatibility. Anyway, I will try to make LEDA compatible with those old homebrew that are still useful today because they weren’t updated or because they have a better old version.

ht*p://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ei81W228ww
just sub the * for t
Lolzersskatersmotha I never seen that one before O_________________o
comments do nest below this level….
coolllll!!!now i can do alot with
1.5 apps on a slim!!!
yea what i was going to say
i never knew that :]
5th comment woohoo! I made 5th place do I win the jackass award?
BTW nice homebrew software
Will try this one on my Fat, as I can’t seem to get the kernel add-on to work.
Brilliant.
Can’t wait to try this, I am so happy to see another dax release
About time something like this gets released.
pspacman and pspeech do not work, please post working ones so far nothing
what about psp 3000 there is any progress on it to run like these homebrew
is there any releases soon or not yet we have to wait a long time to get working like these homebrew and iso/cso
3000s not even hacked to Custom Firmware yet, nevermind homebrews…
Wrong place to post about psp 3000… GOOGLE IT!
The 3000 has gripshit/pong hack it’ll be a while before u get any real homebrew
Time machine works great for me. Cool app though
This program is the 1.50 kernell for the slim but this doesn’t need rebooting. Meaning you can just play 3.xx homebrew and 1.50 homebrew without doing anything differently!! Just genius.
Just to let ppl know that this works (at least for me) on 5.02 GEN-A if anyone else is interested.
thanx mang
you anwsered my question
just tested for psp ftp server app whiches a 1.50 kernel app, it booted it, but did not run it…
Wow. One word explains it all.
Time to pull out all the stuff in my “Outdated Folder”
Mwahahahah.
Question now, do I buy a PSP2000 now that the PhatBrew is usable on them?
Makes me wonder if there is a way to make a PSP3000 homebrew app that can fix the scan lines. But I think thats part of the screen.
3000’s scanline on screen IS part of the sceen/hardware.
and also, about the new psp 2000s, they contain the unhackable motherboard same as 3000.
if your buying one, either get a older slim model, perfered second hand one or get a 3000 if your willing to wait for the hack for them…
DAX always knows what the users want: fatsmod, PSN issues and now this. Tailoring a program that suits the users needs is just as vital to programming skills — IMHO DAX is graded A++++++++ on both.
Well, on slims its either be able to play some 1.50 homebrew or play none…
If anyone is having problems getting older homebrew to work, make sure your homebrew folder is set to 1.50 in recovery
I was having problems and after switching, everything started to load
… Unless there is something wrong with the homebrew of course it’s gonna load on 1.50 kernel because the homebrew was made for 1.50 kernel! the point of LEDA is so you don’t have to keep on going into recovery menu to swap the kernel and have more than one game folder (also so slims can use older homebrew without having to use timemachine).
i have a phat psp and i dont need to switch between homebrew folders to play my 1.50 homebrew.my floder is set to 5.XX and all my 1.50 homebrew works.
Well the less compatibility issue will be a problem but I mean we do have Timemachine, right?
With TimeMachine you have to reboot your psp to go into the 1.50 kernell. This can let you play 1.50 homebrew without switching your psp on and off. ^^
niiicee now if only we can get something to support infared on psp slim and then i will have every reason to keep a slim but this part will deff be hard.
ooohhh and another thing since theres leda this might be good so psp fat users can get a little bit more ram space and keep location free and what not
You obviously don`t know how RAM works, do you?
LOL
It uses up RAM space/memory/whatever when it needs to patch the homebrew and if it doesn’t… It doesn’t do a thing to the RAM! (So no, no more RAM for you)
Dam i finally thought i could load XBMC RI without using time machine. It seems to work but then the psp shuts off and i have to turn it back on.
damn it….dark alex is GOD…….
It’s about time!
Well, tetris works at least.
why do faggotry mods keep deleting whatever i type. Democracy bitch, I should be able to express my opinion…
sweet! my road dog finally works! the read me said it was for slim but time machine and now this was the only way i could get it runin
I think i did something wrong….
now that I ran LEDA, I cant run my .iso/.cso files. it either just gives me a black screen and shuts down my psp or gives me an error message. What did I do wrong? O_o
