PSP Firmware 5.03 Released *Updated*

Update: It’s been confirmed: Firmware 5.03 indeed patches the GripShift save game exploit.
Sony has officially released PSP firmware 5.03. Now there isn’t much detail at this time; however, if you’re a PSP-3000 owner holding on tight to your GripShift UMD, I’d recommend not updating, not yet anyway…
According to Eric Lempel, “this is a small update that improves system software stability during use of some features.”… Yeah, I bet.

System software stability eh? Sounds like a fix to me.
It’s exactly what they say. “improves system software stability” – prevents some software (i.e. GripShift) from crashing. “during use of some features” – i.e. during the part where it loads your save file.

I’m sorry, but what exactly is this based on? Newsflash: If Sony allowed homebrew, their cheaper customers would settle for homebrew games instead of buying the actual UMDs.

oh and one question.. i am extreme Enthusiast of the PlayStation Portable.. currently i am running a firmware of 4.01 ( Sony’s) on my new PSP-2001 waiiting for the GripShift Explot team to release their findings… i check this site almost everyday.. but in my understanding Sony hasn’t released their 5.03 system software, the latest version is 5.02…just wondering if theres been a mix up. Reply soon. Also just wondering should i get the GripShift game now? Will i be able to mod my PSP in this week when recieving the gripshift game? thank you for your assistance in this matter.
well…. if u have psp-2000 then u dont really need to use the gripshift exploit. only psp-3000.
with psp-2000 i think u can use pandora hack
depending on which motherboard. If you bought the PSP 2000 early on, the Pandora Battery should work, if you bought the PSP toward the middle to current, it probably won’t. You’d need to figure out which MoBo version you have.
Im actually pretty lucky, I got a madden PSP 2000 during thanksgiving, there were 3 packs, I got 3, One for me, my brother, and another one that I got one day afterwards, because somehow the screen broke in my pocket the first the, I dont know why, anyways, the funny thing is, that the one my brother had was unhackable, and both of mine were hackable, and those were the last 3 madden packs at the local best buy :D

nope not moddable yet, so far gripshift is used to run some homebrew and such.
you should buy it now b4 the hack comes out n they sell them more expensive. but maybe it wont come out. its your decision. just dont upgrade to 5.03

first of all i want to say,good day to all.am a bit new to this psp firmwares.i just want to ask a question regarding me psp whom i updated 2 days ago with an official 5.03 firmware from sony.i used to have a 3.90m33 on it.but when i updated the thing using the official one,the games i have in me memory card,wouldnt work.is there a problem with the firmware i downloaded,or is there sumthin i need to do to get em runnin again?pls if someone could guide me on how to fix it,it would be a great help.thanks.regards to all and keep rolin…
pandora battery, if psp1000 u could modchip it…but stupid 2 do, and quite hard ive only done a few and screwed up thefirst time. just use pandora battery/memory stick
