MacroFire v2.4.1 Released

greg | January 9, 2009

No point bothering with the read me or change log translation; the images themselves describe pen’s MacroFire best… Adjust the analog nub’s sensitivity, record and playback button macros, enable rapid-fire on whatever button, remap controls, etc. That’s the gist of it.

  1. bobby says:

awesome. just what i needed to play psx version of GTA2 comfortably on the psp. thanks.

  2. hendrix118 says:

i have it installed and enabled but how do i run it?

  3. kebrus says:

could anyone tell me if with i can have both analog and dpad with the same functions, and does this works with pops?

i have a psx game were in some parts the dpad feels right but other parts like movement i prefer the analog, the problem is that pops uses the analog to simulate the L2 and R2, so can i, using this, remap a combination between two buttons to simulate another? for example i could press R1 + right to simulate the R2

    so? can i?

  4. Crazy Fish says:

hmmm… I might have to download this if thats the case.

Making button combo for Analog Left and Right. L3 and R3 would be nice…

Bring alot more options to emulating PSX.

  5. gaslen says:

can you tell me how to put this on my psp…plsss….thank you in advance…

  7. Bobby says:

Wait… Where the heck is a readable readme!

  8. Indestructible says:

    Kool, Though I Don’t Care Much…

  9. Aaron*1 says:

Actually to install it You can’t just put the folder into seplugins. You have to take out the macrofire.prx and macrofire.ini from the folder and put it into seplugins and have the macrofire folder as it is in seplugins.

You then have to activate the plugin in recovery mode.

To start the plugin, during a game you have to press vol. up + vol. down buttons at the same time. You can change this in the options.

    • hendrix118 says:

      not true
you just have to put the correct line in for the directory in this case it would be

      ms0:/seplugins/macrofire241/macrofire.prx 1

thx for the info on starting it though i was lost on that one

  11. pendragon says:

you forgot to mention this only works for the slim.

  12. pendragon says:

you forgot to mention that this is only for the slim version

  13. pendragon says:

it says so on the qj download page. the screen remains black for me and the psp cant boot. can you explain what you did to get it working

  14. bobby says:

how hard could it have been to create this document and put it in the read me? or how hard could it have been to just type this up in a comment? this is the correct way to use this:

    1. create these txt documents if you do not have them in your seplugins folder:
    vsh.txt
    game.txt
    pops.txt

    2. add the line “ms0: / seplugins / macrofire.prx” to all of them.

turn the psp on and press the Vol- and vol+ to activate.

note: if you do not have an seplugins folder in the root of your memstick, create one.

    • pendragon says:

what about the other files (except the macrofire.prx)? Where do they go? Thats what i cant figure out. i agree on the readme. plugins are easy when there’s only one prx file.

  15. bobby says:

and dont forget to set the plugins to on in recovery mode: hold R at startup and go the the plugins menu, set them to enabled.

you dont seem to get what i’m asking.
in the zip file are the following folders and files: src folder(the source code, unneeded for the instalation), remap folder, macrofire.ini, macrofire.prx and various txt files (unreadable on my windows, probably some alphabet i dont have installed, i dont think they’re needed). if i place everything in a macrofire folder in seplugins than the line should be “ms0: / seplugins / macrofire / macrofire.prx” and not “ms0: / seplugins / macrofire.prx” (as you said) because the prx would be in the folder. i’ve tryed this and it doesnt work. i tryed putting everything in the seplugins folder directly with the line you stated above and that doesn’t work either. can you please make a detailed how to or at least post a few screens of the explorer showing where everything is.
      thanx in advance

  17. bobby says:

works on fats, phats, etc.. worked on mine!!!

  18. Bobby says:

Rustcoal@yahoo.com send me an email pentadragon and ill explain it fully as this thread is getting old. Ill also post a full walkthrough soon as I get a chance to.

  19. bobby says:

heres everything i did. i really think this should be included as a readme file because the one included is all screwed up…

thanks to ClassG and greg for posting it. i think this plugin is a must if you hate not having a complete control over button configuration(who doesn’t hate that, anyways?).

macrofire 2.4.1 install instructions and walkthrough by rustcoal:

    installation:
    1. download macrofire241.zip and extract its contents on your desktop
    2. turn on your psp and enable usb mode. connect it to your computer, all that simple stuff.
    3. go to the root of your memory stick and open your seplugins folder. if you do not have a seplugins folder, create one and open it
    4. drag and drop your extracted macrofire241 folder here.(into your seplugins folder)
    5. also in your seplugins folder, open and add the following line to your pops.txt, game.txt, and vsh.txt:
    ms0:/seplugins/macrofire241/macrofire.prx
(if you do not have either of these txt files in your seplugins folder, create one(right click your mouse>new>text document), and add the line. save the document and close it.
    6. exit usb mode on your psp by pressing O, and turn off your psp (by sliding and holding the power switch for a full 3 seconds)
    7. unplug the usb cable.
    8. hold R and continue holding R while you power on your psp. the recovery menu should come up.
    9. go down to plugins and you should have three that say the following:
    macrofire.prx[vsh]
    macrofire.prx[game]
    macrofire.prx[pops]
go ahead and enable all of these by pressing X on each one. should say “enabled” in parenthesis.
    10. go to “back” and then “exit”

your psp should now start up normally and you can go ahead and press Vol+ and Vol- to access macrofire2.4.1 at any time.

oh what the heck, ill go ahead and show you how to use it, everything i know:

    Usage:

macrofire enging: make sure you set this to “on” if you want any of your macros/remapped buttons to work.

buttons to launch the menu: self explanatory…edit these if you want to use different buttons other than vol+ and vol- to launch the menu.

buttons to toggle the engine state: self explanatory…edit these to the buttons to those you want to use to turn the “Macrofire Engine” option on/off.

tuning the analog stick sensitivity: set the analog stick to on/off, set the sensitivity, and use it as a diagnostics testing. i really have no idea what the origin settings are for.

remap buttons: press triangle and then you will get a little menu. set the real button you are going to press to “on” then press circle.(you may choose more than one button if you like). press circle again and you will be asked to set the remap buttons. for example. if you want to invert(reverse) up and down, you set the real button to down and the remap button to up., press triangle to create a new remap. then you do the vice-versa: set the real button to up and the remap button to down. if you made a long set of remapping, i suggest you save your remap settings here by pressing R to go to the menu

rapidfire settings: this one if pretty self explanatory.

Macro settings: pretty self explanatory as well. make sure you understand a Macro is a recorded set of pressing keys. it can be run once, or infinitly. only thing that might need some explainging is when you select “record a macro”, it will exit the Macrofire menu and start recording automatically. when you are done with what you want to record go ahead and put the vol+ and vol- buttons again(unless if you changed them) and go down to stop recording

    And thats it. thank you!!!

Edit the .ini file on your computer to use something besides vol up and vol down. Maybe Ltrigger and Rtrigger or cross and triangle.
