Custom Firmware Extender v3.1 Released

greg | January 7, 2009

The name speaks for itself — Cpasjuste’s Custom Firmware Extender… Extend the functionality of custom firmware M33 or GEN using the included CFE plug-ins. Change the CPU speed while under the XMB or in-game, listen to your own tunes in-game, take screenshots at anytime, output the PSP screen to a monitor and stream ISOs/homebrew over USB, change or mute the volume of each audio channel, display system information… And really, the documentation details it all.

Custom Firmware Extender v3.1 Screenshot

The CFE v3.1 changes, the download…

CFE v3.1 changes:

  • Removed the USB autostart feature since the 5.00 fw include a similar function.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the auto-sleep and backlight auto-off features to work.
  • Combo button’s are back (change the cpu/brightness, take screenshots with a quick combo key).
  • Fully configurable via the menu, changes can be saved. Note that there is now a different configuration file for game and vsh modes.
  • USB streaming recoded, based on the great work of Poison (hostcore). PC hard drive is redirected to the PSP, allowing streaming of homebrews, music, videos, and isos in any mode (sony, m33, umd..). Just select “Remap usb to ms” in the menu then browse your games like you usually do.
  • Music player improved, can now be completely stopped from the menu, and/or properly restarted with another music directory source.
  • PSP phat compatibility added, but in-game music player is removed for now (not tested).
  • GUI colors configurable via the configuration files (”game.cfg” and “vsh.cfg”) in ABGR hex format.
  • Added the possibility to prevent the plugin to be loaded (hold L trigger) while starting a game, or load the light version of CFE (hold R trigger) so extra slim memory is not used, preventing some plugins (pspstates) to not work.

music.prx s a good plugin for in game music and it also works in the vsh. it’s not to complicated or fancy but it gets the job done easily. works great on my phat, i love it.

also, this looks like an amazing plug-in. been wanting to try it for some time but i didn’t have a slim so glad to see it has some phat support now. i will be glad to see how this is. thanks!

oh I have that already!!! and your right it works great, but I’d rather have the two combined so that I can take one off so that I can have a free space open for my plugins

dude, if you are having trouble doing something, don’t add a comment onto the page about for a plug in for a psp. not to be mean or anything, but no one really wants to help you probably on this page. go to google and search or look in forums. most likely you either have no wireless internet where ever you at, if you do then it must be an unsupported router which could get fixed by something you could buy, or you just can’t do it right, which it shouldn’t be that hard to figure out how to do it.

so i would look elsewhere before deciding the best thing to do is post a comment on some random thing asking for help. and that info is so vague it would be almost impossible to tell you the exact problem.
i wish you luck on your problem.

The problem is related to the plugin, he had every reason to ask here.

CFE prevents the browser to work for phat PSPs, it’s a glitch that needs to be reported anyways.

sorry sorry, haven’t tried it yet. thought he was just someone who was just trying to learn how to do something, not anything related to this plugin. my apologies.

Yes, but can you Change the CPU speed while under the XMB or in-game, while listening to your own tunes in-game, and take screenshots at anytime, while outputing the PSP screen to a monitor and streaming ISOs/homebrew over USB, and change or mute the volume of each audio channel, while displaying system information? I think not. Still a good util. ;)

It seems to be doing something odd at startup. It lags for several seconds, doing a ton of access to the memory stick and slowing the system down, before finally changing the screen brightness and running normally.

Also, annoying things: doesn’t respect X/O swap setting, no playlist/music subdirectory support, and the readme could just be a plain text file. Besides those issues, it’s pretty cool.

Adding an “Exit to XMB” option would be nice, then you could use the Home key to activate it.

for those having trouble with remotejoy:

1: Make sure that you have 5.02 Gen-A and the CF Extender

Make sure you have remotejoylite.prx in your ms0:/seplugins/cfe/ folder and RemoteJoyLite_en.exe in your computer

2: download PSP type “B” drivers ready – Google it!
3: Add the following lines in your vsh.txt (create if theres none) which can be found in your ms0:/seplugins/ folder.

ms0:/seplugins/cfe/RemoteJoylite.prx 1

4: Add the following lines in your game.txt (create if theres none)which can be found in your ms0:/seplugins/

ms0:/seplugins/cfe/RemoteJoylite.prx 1

note: the “1″ at the end of the line indicates the plugin to be “on”

5: Press note + R in your psp

6: in the CF extender main menu select “Start Remotejoy” and then exit the CFE

7: Unplug and re-plug your psp in your usb

8: Proceed with the installation of your PSP type “B” device

9: Run RemoteJoyLite_en.exe in your pc.

Enjoy and have fun!

Hope this helps!

I’m not able to get it working on 502 GEN-A. PSP1000 (Phat) with 8gig memory card. Tried disabling all the other pluggins I have.

“Enable cfe_loader.prx under the m33 recovery menu (Hold R while starting the PSP) in vsh and game. (you may need to activate it under pops to make it work on FAT PSP, strange bug).”

I don’t see cfe for pops is this sepperate download needed for Phats?

You need to add it to pops.txt in the seplugins folder for it to show up with [POPS]

even though I have done this, it still gives me a black screen on startup ;s

guys i found a new trick one are you worry to overwrite .prx and .vsh because of your some plugins heres the trick just first you must back up all your plugins cxmb etc after that paste the folder of seplugins of Custom Firmware Extender v3.1 after that paste the game.txt and vsh.txt in seplugins and TM to the root of MS after that open the game.txt or vsh.txt of your plugin that you want to activate after that copy the content of it for example in cxmb just just open the vsh.txt and copy its content and go to seplugins and open the vsh.txt of Custom Firmware Extender v3.1 and paste it remember to have distance and walla go to recovery menu and you see the plugin you want to active together with Custom Firmware Extender v3.1 is can be enabled good luck ^_^

Looked for it. MaxConsole found download. And I can’t register. Anyone have a valid download?
I’m running Vista. So I think I need certain version.

ODT is for Open Office I believe.

Also

I already have remotejoy enabled under vsh.txt and game.txt. I load up a game, open up the CFE menu, click USB on and Remotejoy on. While CFE says that remotejoy was loaded successfully, there is no output on the computer. I’ve only been able to get remotejoy working on the XMB, once. It no longer works.

I believe you don’t need to turn on the USB in the CFE menu as 5.00 firmware has a an auto “usb” thing function so you’ll be having trouble or you might just be triggering your usb in an off state then. just choose the remotejoy option and that’s it. hope it works now.
