PSP Virtual Globe in 3D *Updated*
greg | December 15, 2008
Update: Virtual Globe v0.51 is now available; the changes go unmentioned, although they’re likely minor…
Like Laurie London, developer mifki’s got the Whole World in His Hands, and not only that; he has managed to pack the entire planet into a ~ 5.9MB archive for everyone to enjoy. Extract said zip to your memory stick, load up your PSP, and explore our beautiful Earth in its entirety.
Currently Virtual Globe’s feature set is somewhat lacking; however, mifki does plan to add some extra ingredients next time ‘round. So stay tuned.
Controls:
- Arrows – move
- L/R – zoom
- Cross/triangle – tilt
- Square/circle – rotate
- Start – menu
Known problems:
Not sure how it will work on PSP-1000 (fat) because of less memory available, it may crash. I think next versions will be Slim-only, sorry, I’ll have to drop support for older PSPs in order to implement great features I’m planning.

Woot First Comment!!! How gay is that???
Havnt checked the app but it looks cool.
is this like google earth or psp maps?
vGay!
nerr..
checked but when return to xmb all data gone only root of ms there is this apps files.dont use it if you have any important data!!!
…Google Earth on my iPod Touch>>>This.. Any day.
don’t be a douche. of course google earth is “better”, it’s professionally coded by a team of high-tech individuals. this isn’t an ipod touch site, it’s a psp site. We all know the ipod touch and the iphone rule everything
also, it should have been written without so many >>>, nobody can guess what you’re trying to say there.
“ipod touch goes to this?”
ipod touch > this, maybe
there are a lot of things the ipod does not yet do that psp does.
oh, and lastly, if you don’t need this and/or would never use it, then why bother posting a comment?
that first paragraph was supposed to end in a tag, but it did not display, as the browser probably tried to parse it as html
damnit, i FAIL. i’m trying to say that that first paragraph about the ipods ruling everything was sarcasm.
as the human torch would say: “flame on!”
true and ipod sux
ipod < ZUNE
nerr..
G1>IPhone.
“also, it should have been written without so many >>>, nobody can guess what you’re trying to say there.”
Obviously it means there’s a speed-boosting strip between an iPod Touch and this app. ;-)
again, not a phone forum, guys… and yeah, gg, i’m sure you’re just reading now that i was being sarcastic
it works fine on my fat psp and im sure any continued updates will still work on the fat psp.
i have several homebrews and things on my fat so im sure this can continue being developed on the fat =P just for input
a hybrid map would be nice so i can see the satellite and streets at the same time. I have an issue with this taking ALL the space on my memory stick. and when I zoom in on high altitude cites, like in CO, the camera goes below the map.
hey the homebrew makers should make a voice recorder for the psp camera. It should record things and should be able to edit it to make freaky noises
then fuck off and doo it and stop being a shit stabber. it upsets your mommy
O yeah…
nerr..
you know… you don’t NEED to drop support in order to do shit. Just write better code. If Crisis Core could be played on a fat, I don’t see why in the world this would be so hard to implement as well
hes a crap coder thats why
nerr..
you should comment to this homebrew app, not argue with other people.
btw i have fat psp =’(
good app though
cool app but it is kinda glitchy – Xploria 1.6 will crash if it attempts to sort this program in XMB list (‘Sort Homebrew’ function of Xploria)
CRAP!!! there are other psp progs that do this … just way btter than you.
nerr..
Do I see savable maps with gps functionality in the future? Any one here who only looks at what an App. is and not what it could be shouldn’t be commenting.
great work.
-TKG
cant wait to see future installments.
I have 5.00 m33-4(slim) and this app. did NOT work very good/fast and it only worked for 1-2 min. then froze. hope this helps!
worked just fine on my 5.00 m33-4 fat with the 3.71 ms patch. also was able to sort it with xplora 1.6
how do i install it
