PSP Firmware 5.02 Released

Sony has officially released it — PSP Firmware 5.02.
The good news: Dark_AleX’s latest version of PSARDumper is able to successfully dump and decrypt it.
The bad news: well, there is none really… It’s unlikely we’ll see custom firmware 5.02 M33 from this; the changes are nothing too significant. Maybe a patch for 5.00 M33 is in order? We’ll see…

I think Sony has just given up on encrypting the firmware, and rather are just hoping that the new PSP’s hardware encryption would be enough to deter hackers.

5.00m33-3 has no problem to psn store
If you are using 5.00M33-3, dump the 5.00 official update EBOOT using the newest PSARDumper, and overwrite the vsh\module\npinstaller_plugin.prx in flash0, and you will be able to download again.

i have problem to the memory pro duo 8gb and 16gb in ver 5.00 m33 3
Make sure No UMD is enabled.
try formatting it, and check to see if its a magicgate supported, is it a sony one from the same country as where you bought ur psp?, i bought mine from china and i live in australia and bought mine from australia, it works fine but i cant use it in my card readering in my computer because it dosnt read it, when i go into usb mode i hvae to wiggle my usb cable around to get it to pop up. try some of these.

sorry buddy but if you are finding a custom firmware.., there’s no custom firmware in psp-3000!
psp3000 is also called psp brite here in the Philippines.
it is only for 1000/2000….

I doubt they’ve givin up.
It takes a lot to develop an encryption. They have to develop one that will not only work on all motherboards, but also PSP’s with firmware as low as 1.0.

official firmware is a software made by sony,while custom firmware is a hacked software wherein you can play games downloaded from the internet.you can still play games in official firmware.the sad part is,you can only play using umd.i have the same problem too.5.02.damn!

At dl.qj.net there are 2 firmwares at 5.02 however you need to downgrade in order to use it.Make sure you use firmware made for your country or your psp will crash and you dont need a pandora battery, but if your psp bricks then you are royaly fucked until you get one. Unfortuneatly I dont have one so im going need some one to make one for me.

Hi All, went to use my pandora on my friends psp slim 2001 series and he upgraded to 5.02 OFW, my pandora does not seem to work at all with his for some od reason? I’m asuming it’s because of teh firmware that he has? Is there any remote way of downgrading ofw from 5.02?
