PSP-3000 Hacked? By Datel?!

Hrm… Well, as far as I know, there’s no official confirmation from anyone just yet… But according to *cough* Datel, they’ve created what would seem to be a Pandora-like battery for both the PSP-2000 and the thought to be unhacked 3000 — alas, Datel’s Lite Blue Tool Service Mode Battery.
It’s said the battery will offer the ability to toggle between normal and service mode; as well, the Lite Blue Tool features a LED power gauge indicator for your convenience. Of course in service mode you’re given access to the PSP’s flash leaving the device fully hackable — downgrade, install a custom firmware, do whatever desired… Or so you’d think.
The Lite Blue Tool will be available November 28th retailing for $29.99 across North America and $19.99 in the UK.
Now the question is: speculation or realer than Real Deal Holyfield? I’d say it’s likely but we’ll know for sure in the coming days…

I’m a lil confused here, so they’re saying the batteries will be available on that date blah blah blah, so does that mean we wont get to download the software to make it ourselves? or are they just keeping it to themselves. But if its a special way of hard modding the battery, i hope they show us :(

exactly. unless dax has access to the proper equipment to be able to strip a piece of embeded silicon out of its packaging and then look at said silicon he couldnt have anything to do with it. equipment to do that costs a lot of money, and i mean A LOT. not only that but it requires an in depth knowledge of electronics and computers to use it, not just knowing how computers work and how to program as the former is much more complicated than the latter, to the point where anyone who has such knowledge is likely either an engineer or an engineering student with a good bit of experience under their belt. not saying that dax doesent fit this profile, but as i (as well sa most others) know little to nothing of him i cant assmue anything (hence why im speaking hypothetically).
the question here is, did datel actually do this or not.
This reminds me of how we hacked the original Xbox, just in reverse order. Full access (FW 1.50 and below, any Xbox today), software access (tiff exploit, LCS, 007 on Xbox), hardware access (pandora, moodchips on Xbox), and decapping and investigating (Datel now (supposedly) and Bunnie on Xbox.

Actually mike501, hacking the 3000 wasnt copied by Dax. They went in to the cercuitry and ripped out the encryption that was in the PSP. And, yeah, Sony probabley will xD.

i love my psp FAT and still have it on 3.52 cfw (best for homebrew) tho some newer games dont work but there aint many new psp games worth playing anyway.

i dont mean to crush ur bubble but ive tried my friends one with the mic, and you have to be so fucking clear and so close to the mic for it to work normaly. and plus weight and size diffrence (NONE) and the brite screen, you can only notice the diffrence in photos.

Datel used to be an awesome prominent reverse engineering of sort company until recently they stole some work of others. God knows what’s the truth behind it. Anyway, it’s either they’re back or they hired Dax for a big whooping contractual amount of money and a team of reverse engineers I guess. So it’s good news if it’s true and plausible. We’ll just wait and see by then. If it works, I’m gonna get that PSP-3000 and I don’t care about the interlacing-scanlines issues. Heck, I’ve got both phat and slim. OK the phat is mine and the slim was for my younger brother. haha. I just freckin’ wish sony won’t release another “version/model” of PSP like PSP-4000 or PSP-xxxx something.

I have been looking to get a new handheld. I’ve had a phat since release and I’m tempted to upgrade to something, maybe even DS just for the vast amount of games. *gag* Or to this, but it doesn’t seem worth it…

To mike501 there was no release by dax for datel to copy. They did worm their way into making a few bucks by stealing a previous idea to access ipls.

They donot have anything being mass shipped to northamerica on black friday (28th). Seems like a ploy. Dude.. its just the battery.. it still needs software, which isnt avalible for 3000’s yet. Datel sold tool batteries before, and they all aperently needed DAX’s Magic Memory Sticks still. The 3000’s aperently respond to the same battery, so its just a marketing ploy.. just cause you can put the PSP in service mode, doesnt mean you’ll have an IPL that works (we’d still ahve to wait for DAX)
dudes maybe dax can look at that battery and show us how to mod our own battery :D

welll all in all i don’t care. the spirit of all this modding is that it was meant to be FREE!!! even check out DAX’s requests…kudos if Datel has managed to but I’m sure DAX will be providing the entire community with his two cents worth…
With psp3000 there are 2 problems basically Problem 1 – the IPL is new, this new IPL has “measures of security” and to this day ways are not known ” to hack” that protection All the psps3000 (all has TA-90v2 mobo) and psp2000 TA-88v3 (that to this day are not hackable) use the same IPL… so concerning IPL… the 2 are in the same situation… For that same reason, psp2000 TA-88v3 would probably be able to be hacked before psp3000 (or the 2 could be hacked simultaneously. Maybe more so if the get a “work-around” on problem 2). It is impossible that psp3000 is hackable before psp2000 TA-88v3
Problem 2 – that when putting a pandora battery in psp3000… there is no response. This in my opinion is a great problem but even that the IPL (because after all… the IPL someday could “fall” by software… but so that it works pandora would have to make it possible to modify hardware the hardware)

As it says in the article, although the PSP may be able to go into service mode, that does not mean that it is possible to be hackable. At least it is to decrypt the last bits of pre-IPL and to dump the archives of firmware, that indeed, are exclusive of the new hardware of PSP 3000.
Supposition 1: The TA-088v3 will use the same system to enter service mode. Perhaps (there is but luck with this) Supposition 2: The new battery has functions that a classic pandora battery will not be able to determain.
And, lack to corroborate that the news is certain. Because I do not know the reliability of an article of Maxconsole.

They wouldn’t create something that doesn’t work. they’ve obviously found a way. I have a deitel tool battery creator and it works fine with psp 1000 and 2000. so no problems with there tools before.
man are you reading? the cpu doesn’t support ipls from older firmwares than 4.01 you can’t downgrage!!! there is no software to make the cpu to read older ipls. thats not possible. DAX clearly says that if somehow the pre ipl is dumped the protection will go down TOTALLY !!!

i’ve used datel products for a long time now, and i believe this; datel has always been good at reverse-engineering and hacks; for them to make a service mode battery is acceptable, and the fact is sony can’t stop them from selling it either, because while it could be used to hack a psp, their excuse of course would be that it enables the user to make their own repairs or customizations, ala like a computer which is legal of course, and unless they had proof that they reversed engineered it, they have no case, after all sony can’t purposely buy and open up one of these items to investigate themselves, then the evidence would be “tampered” and their’s also the conflict of interest
p.s. if you want to play newer games, back them up onto your computer, and you can use a couple different programs to alter the “needed” firmware version, you can even set the firmware down to 1.00 or 1.50 so you can play them on an older firmware/original firmware (note: pirating games is illegal and this should only be down with games you own)

Ok first off this is good news but this lite blue battery only puts it in patial service mode it still needs a ipl from the 3000 files. It is real datel used a grapics chip of something in a battery. You never know this might be the way sony unbricks are psps. Probaabaly not though. Pandora is not the way sony unbricks aree psps because they wouldn’t block it cause then they cant fix our psps. We need need to find out sonys way of unbricking our psps. GO DAX!!!!!!!!!!!

well yeah we need time until dark_alex dumps the firmware for the psp 3000 and 2000 (with the ta-088v3 mobos) then make the custom firmware, or develope the softare on the magic memory stick with the custom firmware. Thus, putting custom firmware on the psp 3000, from the datel battery with the custom firmware on the memory stick that dax might create soon, I hope because I want to get a psp 2000.
