Homebrew Fun: TrickBrick v3

greg | November 15, 2008

If you could buy PSP homebrew from an IT Store, and if the IT Store was still around, you’d probably find something like this — Playboy21’s TrickBrick.

The concept is simple: your friend wants his/her PSP hacked, they come to you and you’ve already downloaded TrickBrick with the intent of causing a real shit storm. You then mimic a custom firmware flash using TrickBrick and well, you know the rest… Your friend snaps and hopefully doesn’t punch you out before realizing it’s all a show.

I think you’re forgetting one thing – without a hacked PSP, how would you run the homebrew? ;)

haha… how about hacking it first, in super stealth mode, without your friend’s knowledge?

Nah… What should be done is to port this to a magic memory stick – so it runs this instead of DC7 ;)

if you have the time machine ipl and jas0nuk’s elf menu, just copy it to the ELF folder, rename it (i just did Installer.pbp but it doesnt really matter. just make sure the “.pbp” extension is still there) and viola. i did it to my friend that way and he almost started crying. it was hilarious

Honestly.. this is just retarded. I don’t even think it belongs on the front page. No offense greg, but some of these things are just plain lame and don’t deserve to be here.

Oh come on. Not every app that people make has to be beneficial to the whole community. That is the point of homebrew after all isn’t it? I think this is a good prank.

“Flashing flash files” <- HAHA.
You could add to the app that it wants the user to put the actual firmware update PBP’s in the root of the memstick and have some memorystick flashing going on (for example just read some chunks of the PBPs in).

hironistelrooy, read the readme.txt

Mayhem, i’m not sure why that’s happening to you. It’s supposed to boot the psp back to the XMB. Works fine for me. I’ll look into this matter mate :)

The funny thing is… after you’ve all had a laugh about how its fake and you got your friend good… then it really bricks your psp.
