greg | October 22, 2008
With the quickness indeed — Sony has officially released PSP firmware 5.01. The update is said to correct issues relating to larger capacity PRO Duos. Namely users who own an 8 or 16 GB stick were left with an insufficient space error when downloading content from the PlayStation Store.

that was quick
They have people checking it round the clock…
I hope that the new stuff that dark alex has made for 5.00 m33 will work on the 5.01 or 5.0 m33-2 coz it would have been a waste to make them if everyones gonna upgrade to 5.01 m33 or 5.00 m33-2 whateva one gets chosen to be made, but i got a 8gb sony memory syick, not magic gate surported but it works fine for me on 5.00 m33
it should say next to the download thats its not the custom firmware verson!!! i almost installed it
but it already indicates that its not a custom firmware since it doesnt have “M33″ at the end of the firmware number…that right there is all the info you need to know if its cfw or not dude. Thats why its also good to read the description of the post, to know if its cfw as well.
anyways DAX doesnt need to make a cfw out of this one, they are just fixin a bug on that playstation store thing, and i doubt anyone who has cfw on their psp uses that feature anyways
So you accuse everyone with a cfw to be a pirate? …
well, it’s not too far from realtity but i still think, that psn store is a step into the right direction.
I have already downloaded many things from the store even though I have custom firmware.
And my 8GB memory stick works fine with the current M33 firmware.
5.01 M33?????….yes yes??…GO DAX ;)!!!
You sir have failed, will just be patched no 5.01 for u.
He wouldnt do 4.05 because it was a waste of his time so he released a plugin for PSN.
Will be the same again.
doesn’t custom firmware already have a fix for that?
Dax probably will just patch it so that we can still connect to the Store. Since he just finished 5.00 M33-2 and nothing was really added to 5.01..
5.00 M33-2??
…thats not out…
OMG DONT YOU GET IT, READ IT SLOWLY!!! HE SAID DAX PROBALBY WILL… HE DIDNT SAY THAT ITS OUT!!! btw sorry about caps, im just angre at such stupidy..
yeah he did.
“Since he just finished 5.00 M33-2″
I win.
Dark Alex said on his forum probably thursday.
It allso afected the 4gb sticks as well
how can i make my psp read my cso game files.do i have to upgrade my firmware ? it is currently 3.11.and is it advisable to dawnload the original sony version firmware
you see, i’m pretty sure sony did this just to f*ck up the ones using custom firmware. i have a 4 gig stick, works perfectly, someone above has 8 gig says it works perfectly. i’m a little scheptical about this 5.01.
Nice. now Dark Alex can release the update with the psone fix xD
I’m too scared abouse replace files on flash bios hehe
The popcorn.prx was actually really easy to fix. If you enter USB mode in the recovery, just go into the kd directory (Where the prx files are.) and drag the popcorn.prx into it.
Was very easy, no mess.
fast one !
I’m sure that DA can fix it just with a patch like 5.00 m33-2 or sth like that.
I have an 8g MS & havent had any probs since upgrading to 5.00M33 and have downloaded 2 demos via wifi
I have a 16gb stick and I have downloaded themes videos and demos and a psx game all with no error on my 5.00m33 god of war slim.
Since this update the Playstation store no longer seems to work on CFW psp using usbversion. Has anyone else found this?
5.01 i don’t need it….Dark should not waste his time of…… we will stick with the 5.00m33 for now till sony think of better update and better stuff…. anyway m33 keep up the good work while sony should go to hell…. hahaha
lol, its probaly one of those bugs only the unlucky people get…the ones that no one hardly does, I would never have a stick that big, so this won’t effect me either way :P nut still great job dax, and sony, We WANT FLASH PLAYER FOR PSP!!!!!
Can there be a patch to turn my 2gb card into a 8gb one? :D
today i upgraded my psp slim to firmware 5.01.Can i still downgrade my psp to any M33 version?thx
When update for 5.01 m33 or above m33???

today i upgrade my psp slim to 5.01 through update network. I can’t play ISO games. can i upgrade / downgrade my firmware ? Can you tell me the step?
can anyone tell me if MS duo 8GB works with 5.00 or 5.01 official versions in fat PSP?
my PSP is IC1003.i upgraded it to 5.01 yesterday and today it says i have ver 5.00.can anyone explain to me how that happens?(versions are the official)
CAN SOME ONE TELL ME HOW MY PSP WOULD PLAY CSO FILES?.any body please
K just some tips to get it started:
If you have a CFW (custom firmware) mainly any of the M33 CFW, then you just need to put the .cso file (NOT the folder) into the iso folder in the PSP Memory Stick. Once done with that, there are 2 options:
If you have 4.91 M33 CFW and below: you should put a umd drive in your psp in order to play the game, which is located in the games section when playing the PSP.
If you have 5.00 M33 CFW and above: You can do the same as above, or easier is to “hold R when the PSP is booting (starting up) and a recovery menu should come up. From there goto Configuration then Click on UMD mode and set to M33 drive -NO UMD-. Then back and exit to the main screen. Now, you can play your .cso.
i have installed firmware 5.01 on my slim psp and run. but my games wont work at all, please help me on this. thanks
