No MOD PSP Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick
greg | September 18, 2008
Stemming from gr8npwrfl over at ps2dev is a little black box prototyping the concept of USB to the PSP serial interface. No modifications to the PSP hardware — just hacked with piKey installed –
I currently have completed the USB mouse driver and a USB Keyboard driver. I am currently debugging the gamepad drivers for the XBOX 360 wireless gamepad, the PS2/PS3 wireless gamepad, and the Logitech Wingman wireless gamepad.
And to top it all off –
Now that you have seen it, I will also say that yes I have tested a USB hard drive on this interface and can we say Sloooooooooooow.
It was never intended to do hard drives through the serial port anyway, but I did it to say yes it can be done. Besides I had the driver code for a mass storage device.
Oooh-la-la.
For further technical details and whatnot, follow the source link; she’s an interesting read. Nice work gr8npwrfl.

Now that could have some nice implications… I like where this is going.
But for the time being… controlling the PSP with a keyboard isnt all that useful to myself.
i agree
i bet with some work you could fix it up inside the psp, get it runnin faster with thumb drives and portable hard drives and make it one of the most useful mods out there
if this turns out that good i will have a tough time giving up my psp no matter how old it is heh
This would be amazing! I would pay to buy this actually.
Bring a roll up keyboard with me and type my way on the PSP.
nothing to do with the subject BUT… is it me or does this guy sound EXACTLY like jeff bridges?????
Pretty sweet, this could end up being a very interesting add-on for the psp. Keep up the good work!
is it only for psp phat or both slim and phat and i would love to attach a hdd on this bad boy
I absolutetly love the idea.
plug a mouse and keyboard on the PSP is just f*cking awesome…
…BUT…
I really gotta say, even though I know it’s a huge work and I bet my life that I would not be able to go that far, but anyway.
Instead of building this complicated box, wouldn’t be easier to write a drive to get the inputs from the Universal Serial Bus, I mean… USB ?
the USB port is there on the PSP, waiting, claiming to be used…
When he says unmodfied he means he hasnt made any hardware mods. This would not have been possible without a software mod aka CFW…
I’m looking forward to this, been looking into using the PSP as an OBD II diagnostic tool for the car, but so far have only come across USB models which have their own weird and wonderful converters.
I too am wondering though why the USB port on the actual PSP is not being utilized, and if it has, what implementations are out there that are using it. Surely if Sony has their own little camera that uses it, somebody is looking at using this high speed port for webcam application and much more? Why the serial port?
He says specifically that the little box is a USB Host. PSP’s USB does not like to work as a Host. Hence the reason you cant just hook a portable Hard Drive, or Flash Memory up to it and have it work.
Wow!…sound like a pedophile much…?
good job, but your like 5 steps behind.

I would like to see the mouse work though…
this is completely different than that
they just hooked up the 360 controller to it (ya there is more to it and all, not the point)
this allows universal use, such as, HARD DRIVE SUPPORT
though it sucks in speed
but this has POSSIBILITY
that is why this is nothing like the 360 controller added to it
very cool mod! The USB hard drive possibilities are interesting too.
I’ve heard so many times before in the forums that a USB hard drive couldn’t or wouldn’t be done. just shows that the psp modding community is still going strong over these almost 4 years
hey man.,.. seems i am not able to use the installer.. mine is psp slim 4.01 M33-2.. what shall i do.. the installer is not running..”game cannot be started (80020148)… need help…and how to connect the keyboard?.. and is there any way to connect psp to mobiles usin wifi?
I see this being useful for linux on the psp =)
dude i spent 4 days got a smaler key board, very smal the one from the nokia tock it a part,( it was a old phone, im not rich didnt buy it) i tock it put it in the bottom of the psp u press the bottom of the psp and it comes out the key board, and then the back comes out and is like a stand( the back of the psp, were the umd drive is) this is great im now working on a mouse though, it may be a psp screen smaller and changed to in a toach screen, it may work im still working on it, 3 days on i now, hope it gave u some good ideas
That is pretty insane only thing i want to know is that i don’t see use of the mini usb but can it still be access by your PC or what? Just wondering otherwise great mod i am workin on somthin like that myself but i’m waiting for parts i ordered. If i get a hold of a 2000 i would use this mods for DSL-N.
ATTENSION NOOBS(If you write to the psp battery’s EEPROM instead of taking it apart it won’t die out on you in less than 5 months)
