Pirata has a new version of NervOS available — the multipurpose shell that just might replace your XMB.
Not only does NervOS cover the basics — playing music, viewing images, launching homebrew or games — it includes a text editor, calculator, multiple user profiles (up to 3) with separate credentials and configurations for each, and much more… Like integrated USBHostFS support. Just check it out already.
NervOS changes and download…
NervOS 2.2 changes:
- nosautoboot.prx: now it is more stable (both autoboot plugins) and fixed a problem that caused the XMB to not load sometimes.
- System Info: Free Ram uses a different function now.
- Unpacker: Added unrar support
- Unpacker: Added 7z support
- When typing your password in log in (not in recovery), it shows the password as *
- Adhoc File Transfer
- NervOS Configurator: Now opens the file browser when you choose the font option.
- NervOS Configurator: Now opens the file browser when you choose the user image option.
- Picture Viewer: added GIF support (animated GIF’s too, maybe not all gif’s are displayed right (specially the black and white colors))
- Picture Viewer: added BMP support (16 bit BMP can be loaded but may not be displayed correctly. 24 bit BMP files are displayed correctly. 32 bit may not be loaded or displayed correctly)
- Picture Viewer: fixed 1 bug
- Increased compatibility with PRX plugins
- File Browser: Fixed 2 bugs and 1 typo
- NervOS Installer: remade the graphics and added some sounds
- NervOS Configurator: when changing theme, does not restart anymore.
- USBHostFS: No need for UMD discs anymore when you want to play an ISO (if no UMD is inserted, it uses OE Isofs)
- Added 3 new icons under applications: NetHostFS, Unpacker, Adhoc File Transfer
- File Browser: Added usbhostfs0 and nethostfs0 to root directory so you can navigate through there.
- File Browser: Added “Send file via Adhoc” in tools window
- ISO Browser: fixed bug when reading ICON0.PNG.

So i can’t use this on my 1.5? Even if i upgrade? What if i use ir shell to load it then install?
I don’t wanna put it into my flash0 yet cuz last time i tried it it only ran games on 4.01 kernel and i’m still sticking to 3.90 so does anyione know if that’s been fixed here or not?
Good program, tried it, liked it, only complain is that i wish they add infared support like irshell besides that its awesome!
i just have one question: when theres no umd in the drive, why would it use the OE driver instead of the sony driver? doesnt the sony driver always work on files with less than 64 letters in the name? i dont get why they did that
There was a problem with usbhost using M33 Driver. But OE worked pretty good anyway.
oh. lol i didnt realize that was for usbhost. im guessing if youre running an iso off the memory stick you can use the sony driver, right? i might install this now that i know better
I had that problem too, I just ended up pandoraing it again..but I doubt you kept you battery right?

i have a suggestion for a next release, is it possible to add in game music support?I know IRshell had it..but it freezes the games..think you can add that one pirata, if you can, I will be eternally grateful to you(very nice update btw)
Very nice update It has come along way and is beyond Impressive and theres so much more to add(atleast on the suggestions page)

i installed nervos 2.1 and it runs smoothly. but i uninstall it because i need space in my mem stick. recently i reinstall 4.01m33-2 then when i install the new nervos 2.2 (i followed the guide) and then when im loading it, it shows error loading *.png press x to load default.png it always pop up then my psp will shut down by itself. any idea when i went wrong?
u need to install the theme manually inside NervOS Installer’s theme folder.
I am running version 1.5 and would like to know if this would work on for me? Please let me know, I am pretty excited.

Just installed this on my 4.01m33 phat psp… I tried to use usbhostfs and i get an error loading iso, no idea why.. Guess i will do some google and see if there is a solution… Any one else here besides me had that problem with usbhostfs?
i also got an error loading an iso using usbhostfs.. well i reverted back to nervOS 2.1 because usbhostfs work without problems.
i also thought i was the only one having this problem.

This program is useless, why have a shell, that looks shittier then the original XMB? I mean it can’t even play videos. Oh wow, calculator? Awesome!

only complaints i have about this [note, i have never even used NervOS yet] the in-game music support [hint hint iR shell] although it didnt work on all games [for me] i used it alot for homebrew apps….what else….sugesstions, sugesstions, MULTI-TASKING!!! very limited of course, 1 app or game while listening to music OR READING TXT FILES!!! 1 up iR shell, they didnt have that [quote, im on 3.80 m33-5 for iR shell, make me want to upgrade plz NervOS!!!] basically, copy iR shells most noted functions

I love iR shell to death, but I REALLY need to upgrade firmwares….I need a replacement for iR…..NervOS has my hopes up!! and idk if you’d REALLY need the iR thingie on nervos, but you’d might wanna ask….dont make the fat owners mad now eh?
