I wonder if these new PSPs will be able to have the FW flashed to a custom one - or if it will be like the last PSP revision. Only time will tell I suppose. :/

This thing is worthless… less battery life for a brighter screen (bet sony stole the bightness feature in one of our devs plugins) a built in mic is ok but not needed. and who cares about firmware changes they’ll be on the slim and phat anyway.

The ONLY reason for this is to prevent hackers for hacking the system. Thats it, nothing else. Its a hacking prevention.

More then likely a psp 4000 will roll out in a year with the same functions as the 3000 but better battery life and possibly wireless g ,heck wireless n will be finalized by then so who knows (doubt they’d fit n in a psp though.

I couldn’t stand the Phat. Its to big, but once I tried the Slim.. It felt way better. The 3000 looks ok, but if it aint hackable, then its useless.

Sony doesn’t need to update it portable device with new and better hardware or even come out with a psp2, if the ds has shown any thing its that people just what fun games (graphics comes second)

I think the new system is useless if they want to stop the custom firmwares then they need to work on the firmware itself not the hardware cuz if you can’t hack the new you go back to the old because it will get updated to play any new games that come out anyways same with firmware features. and the thing about nintendo and the emulators, any homebrew that sony allowed would have to be approved by sony so emulators wouldn’t make it through and if nintendo was really trying to hurt sony over the emulators then they would do it now because guess what nes emulators are already on the psp and if sony nintendo and homebrew guys worked together they could do something like the virtual consoles but insted of them on the wii they would be on the psp. and if your worried about sony making psp unhackable then don’t cuz the first thing sony would do would be, make the psp check online to see if its legit when it is near wifi kind of like how the iphone checks in on the apps blacklist.

and if sony really wanted to sell psps they would make one that could run ps2 games without any problems or they would continue to make them hackable because the want to sell systems not games so they don’t give a rats ass about piracy. cuz like y’all said homebrew is more popular than the games for the psp.

I dunno if it’s BS,but the battery life is supposedly only about 30-40 minutes less than a 2K unit, they reckon you’ll still get about 3-3.5 hours continuous on a 3K with the screen brightness on full. Once it’s hacked, I’ll get one. I am sick and tired of squinting into my screen on bright days. I’ll simply ( duh! ) buy a spare battery and sacrifice 30 mins gameplay if it means I can really play it anywhere, anytime.

What I want to see is improved wireless performance. Everything in my house is wireless and the connection and download speeds of web pages really sucks. I feel like I’m using 64K DSL when I’m on Cable. I’d love to be able to surf the web on my PSP in bed rather than drag my little laptop over.

Also battery life don’t mean much to me … That’s what the charger and second battery is for. :)

I’m really disappointed its for all purposes a 2000 badged as a 3000 with a few thrills big deal .I’ll hang on to my phat till they bring something worth upgrading to .Wake up Sony with the recesion making things tight they will have to do better than this to attract buyers .

If it really has a better screen, then I am interested in it, even if you can’t run homebrew on it. I would just use my fat PSP for homebrew and the 3000 for movies and UMDs.

I probably wouldn’t buy it as part of a game bundle though.

Dude nobody is selling a 1000, not saying there bad they just dont retail it anymore. as for the 2000 i wish they’d keep it going. Anyway ALL cfw enabled psp’s will be worth much more than a new 3000 so if you tired of your psp get ready on ebay.

first off fuck the 3000 no diffrence 2nd psp 1000 are the best and third sony expect alot of stocked psp 3000 then sold ones

1 - emulators are not illegal, only the roms that you play on them is illegal (not including the discontinued games of n64 generation and older)

2 - ds offers games, you can’t even play multimedia on it unless you use a mod chip to hack it, unlike the psp which already has multimedia options

3 - the battery on the ds to get a decent play time out of has to be adjusted to the brightness of the screen, yes on backlight you can play for longer then the psp (at it’s 4th level of brightness) but at this level you can barely see the screen making it hard to play

4 - the psp 3000 while having a little changes you must remember these are changes that they had numerous complaints about before, an example would be with the changes of the screen they’re making these changes to make the psp more friendly in different enviroments (playing outside in natural lighting, has always been a problem), also the built in mic (you ever wore a mic for an allnight socom ftb deathmatch?) it kills and is very annoying, i don’t have any problems with this, also look at how many built-in mics work good in their notebooks(i don’t think their will be any problems here), also new mother board means better speeds, maybe even better transfer speeds (new auto usb plugin?), and the fact about the noise reduction feature, like come on playing games loud can be annoying when you here a buzzing like a fly constantly

i wonder how much my phat psp is worth on ebay. my umd drive is total shit and the door’s been broken off (taped on at the moment). it shouldn’t be any more than maybe $65. 3.90 M33-3 on it.

@ gunman121 reverse engineering software is not illegal in all cases, mostly in terms where the product being copied is illegal is because of the way they got the bios, but you have to remember emulators are protected under most cases as long they are free (hence their freeware or shareware), also they must clearly detail what the initial purpose of the emulator is, most cases with original emulators what kept them safe (ala virtual boy advance) is that they are meant to play homebrew or legal (you have to own the original game, movie, etc,) backups of games this is legal, and also as stated for most sites including this one, we just give the tools that are needed, if people choose do things illegal with said hacks or software they do it themselves not the devs that make them,
and for example what about the emulators like dos box and also unofficial “mac” created emus that let play old games or install other OSs, are these ilegal because they are reversed engineered no infact they’re widely respected by gaming companies, publishers, and yes even Macintosh and Microsoft, so are they illegal no but the processes that you can perform on them can be but only to the people using them, not likely the devs, also most devs to give credit to the original developer (ie nintendo and such,) as a sign of commitment to their games and product and also as a loyal fan

look at the companies sales records, most people who use these hacks and software i’ve found are more inclined to actually buy stuff from these companies, because they become familiar and trust the company and it’s product more; then we create more sites like this one and more software people see it get interested, and then buy the products to try out for themselves, you can’t say that companies don’t like it, if you take any marketing class you can see that this is the best free media publicity that companies can have, and in the end it helps their profit, why do you think all three major companies (microsoft, sony, and nintendo) have their own downloads for older games via their consoles because they realize that their is till a market for them, because of the use of roms and eboots, with that said sony wouldn’t make newer models of their systems unless they we’re sure they can sell them, on one of gamespots talk with NA coporate head of sony am, he mentioned that they only release newer models of systems, once the old are sold out, and in regards to games thats their money maker, and the actual systems (especially the ps3) are usually cost more to make one then sell so breaking even by console sales alone is very hard, and that if any gaming company didn’t have the games to be sold they couldn’t make a profit, so really illegal activity isn’t being a negative to companies it’s actually being helpful

also for macintosh look at the i-phone they have been taking unofficial they’ve found online and making them legal, also you have to keep in mind to most that to do most of these things we need to buy original products and hardware, like i’ve known many psp hackers for instance that have, payed at least 1,000 - 2,000 dollars (in amercian or canadian) or over in official products and this isn’t including games or even memory sticks most of the time doesn’t seem alot but when you multiply that by the other 500- 600 people that have to that can turn into quite the money (and this can be only 500 - 600 people in only a signal state or province)

Ahhhh i dont get it with people arguing about psp vs DS…and being bias. Its just that each portable has an advantage over the other including disadvantages. It all depends on what the user wants in a portable gaming device. And it really doesnt have to do anything with age, i own a psp and i play games like Patapon, it may seem like a game for the younger audiences but heck it consumes most of my time(and im 20 btw). Sometimes its not all about good graphics, i know some games on my psp that have superb graphics but i get bored with them before even getting on to the 2nd level. And some games like Manhunt2 which have good graphics, good story mode which is worth playing/purchasing. I heard that there some games on the DS which are really interesting and so i decided that im going to purchase a DS after my next payroll,lol. luckily its cheaper too. Personally i want it all, the graphics, the games, the hacking so im getting both,lool..

Btw…this new psp sounds good.But im not really letting go of my psp2000 Just coz of the few new features like more color depth. Frankly, i still very much enjoy my psp’s display and still think its superb. Perhaps the only reason that might push me into digging deeper into my pockets and buying this psp3000 is the little difference in price and bigger differences in benefits.(Its gonna take alot more than an improved LCD to change my mind.

Okay, let me tell you why the PSP 3*** is gonna suck ass.

1- It is ugly.
2- It has stupid add-on features that won’t benefit anyone in any way.
3- SONY has probably amped the protection to an extreme because of their game sales dropin so much.

Think about it. This is a waste of time, and money.

I am the proud owner of the original (phat), and so far, nothin comes to match.

All these “upgrades” can easily be found for the phat (that they say can’t). It just requires you doing your homework.

People are lazy. They want everything handed to them. That is the only reason why people get these “new” versions.

I say, screw all these new models, stick with what’s good, stick with the original.

you guys know that games systems are all personal refrence some people like sony some people dont, somepeople like xbox some people dont. so stop being ignorant and let the world just enjoy games. sure one might have better graphics than another more enjoyable games. but a crapp game to one person could be a good game to another. i own the first nintendo to the most recent. i have the ps2 psp and ps3 and guess what. i like them all. even the most simple duck hunt game is still amusing. sure nintendo is more kid “friendly” doesnt mean no one else can play it. its all personal refrence.
