Make room iPhone — get a load of this bad boy…
Spotted in our forums it would seem someone has taken liberty in creating their own PSP touch-screen phone. I’m not sure who’s responsible for this righteous mod; nevertheless, it’s noteworthy. So kudos, whoever you are.
There isn’t much detail other than that. More pics available following the discussion thread.

I use my umd all the time.
I also use a thing called VSH menu, and ontop of that i also use VSH to backup my umds that apparently no one uses.
Whats with all the umd hating these days?
Apart from the occasional shonky manufacturing, umd is awesome.

Thats pretty horrible craftsmanship. Sorry but that looks hacked for sure. The guy that did the ps3 laptop, hes the man for these kind of mods…

Great concept, although it’s location and, uh, the engineering involved and in desparate need of investigation. Still, a great concept with huge potential. Don’t forget, the PSP screen IS detachable! :D
Ha! You can make one too. Just ducktaped a sony ericsson P1i/P800/p900/or any touch screen phone on your PSP and voila! you get a PSP phone. ROFLMAO

Microsoft only halved the failure rate to 16% so still that takes the cake on the worst hardware ever made. No Xbox hating, just facts. XBoxs backwards compatibility is overall shit compared to PS3’s and Wii’s. That’s just fact. PS3 80gigs play ps2 and ps1 games and they are gonna be sold for years. Were getting 40 gigs upgraded to 80 gigs. No hate just facts.

Becuase it’s a 40 gig body with a 80 gig harddrive. The current 80 gig is going to still be sold for a hundred more just like always.
You guys should really stop bitching and moaning at eachother. From what I can see here is that this guy has shown the potential of having a mobile phone within the PSP, and to show you different ways of putting it within the PSP. Maybe the new PSP Mark 3 (If one is to come out) will have a built in touch screen phone, it might have a UMD slot which you just push the UMDs in, instead of the open back which we’ve all come to “love”.
I’ve even heard rumours that the new PSP’s will have Harddrives.. Wouldn’t that be fun? A 10-20GB HD, makes it easier for us to “dump games”? Or even to download them from the PSN Website. You’ll just have to wait and see.
But don’t mock the guy because he’s made something which you are all not used to. Yes, ok it looks a little glum, but could you imagine an iPhone style PSP Screen, where you can switch between a Phone and a Games Console? Just think of that for a while..

Hell idc I’d use it just because no one else has done it. Idk why everyone is bitching about it, till you can make a hardware mod of your own , or at least don’t knock it till you try it.
The dual analogue mod was awesome. So was the PS2 controller to PSP mod. This is just relocating your cellphone guts to a more inconvenient place. Plus you’ll look like a retard using it, so how’s it at all worth it?

this would be sweet if someone could make it work with all the hardware on the psp, add an internal cam and mic, use of the speakers, usb, memory card slot, etc and have some homebrew to interface with the phone… with some nice thought, i think this could evolve a lot…

That’s quite an original concept you’ve got there. By the looks of it, yeah, you’ll look retearded holding the PSP next to your ear and talking.
However, still like the idea alot. The only problem is, most people aren’t prepared to sacrifice their UMD readers for this. And using Haier? Please, don’t get me started on Haier phones.
Anyways, it WAS a pretty damn good try there. It’s interesting to see new things everyday. Hopefully you’ll/someone’ll come up with something a little more practical. Keep trying, though.
I definitely agree with IceSky22AIZ. Although I wouldn’t want to waste my UMD drive for that. Not that I care about the UMD drive though, since homebrew and ISO/CSO/DAX can run without UMDs. I plan to actually hardmod the UMD drive into a camera with at least 7.1MP.
