ChildBeGone v.1 Released

greg | August 5, 2008

Do children or your younger siblings annoy you? Teach them a lesson with crait’s “ChildBeGone” — to be used in conjunction with roe-ur-boat’s AutoStart PRX.

Combining crait’s homebrew with roe-ur-boat’s plug-in you can prevent unauthorized access to your PSP from prepubescent pests. The only concern, once little Johnny is denied access, ChildBeGone won’t safeguard against a solid wall smash. So it may be wise to hide your device or take it wherever you go.

No, no, no…
What you do is you put it on your PSP and set it to autoboot. Then, whenever people turn your PSP on, they realize it’s locked them out.
You can customize the display message that is shown whenever the PSP turns on by typing your message in the config.txt file.

no the different txt file he means the vsh txt file in the seplugins folder

buy the way the autoboot function works with my other homebrew or psx games but not with your cbg brew everytime i try it, it just goes to a black screen or displays an error code with the message “the game could not be started” which is a common message for corrupt eboots or programs on the psp, it does though strangely work with only the button commands

now on another sidenote there is limited time issues when searching for the file access to certain folders and how deep(or how many folders) the autostart program can look doing any of these freezes then crashes your psp, also this program’s autoboot only works with hard resets either done by using the reset device option in the vsh menu when in your xmb menu or by holding the power button up until the psp turns it self off and flashes the power light off a few times, it doesn’t support regular turnoffs

now one last thing to mention is that remember while they can take out your memory stick to play your psp your information is still protected and almost everything else since a wide majority of the psp features and options require a ms stick to perform

one more thing if they take out the memory stick it will still be on child-be-gone but if they take out the battery then its back to normal

My little brother’s never taken out the memory card or even thought of that. Yes, it would skip the program but how many people think of that?
If you want, you can flash the eboot and txt file to the flash0:/ then point the VHS.txt and GAME.txt to the location of said eboot and txt files.
Also, you might have typed in the address of the program wrong if you’re getting that message.

the text file im talkin about is the text file in CBG, where you enter your custom text

You don’t have to point it to the TXT file.

I have the same problem as the error code guy. But what’s weird is that it works sometimes but not others. I also saw a autorun feature in the recovery menu. Should that be enabled too? Someone please write up supernoob-friendly version.
