Basilisk II PSP Port (Test 20): 68k Macintosh Emulator
greg | July 21, 2008
J.F.’s Basilisk II port for the PSP is nearing the release candidate stage. Test release 20 brings forth a whole whack of improvements relating to the FPU emulation.
With Basilisk II you’re able to emulate the Mac Classic and the Mac II series running MacOS 0.x through 8.1. You’ll need to obtain both the MacOS and Macintosh ROM image separately. As well, any compatible Mac software you wish to use.
First generation PSP (Fat) owners may take advantage of J.F.’s IR keyboard implementation. There isn’t much feedback concerning IR keyboard support yet; however, I’ll report back later when I have the opportunity to test that out — likely this evening sometime. Feel free to leave your experience/feedback below.

Basilisk II Features:
- Color video display
- CD quality sound output
- Floppy disk driver (only 1.44MB disks supported)
- Driver for HFS partitions and hard files
- CD-ROM driver with basic audio functions
- Easy file exchange with the host OS via a “Host Directory Tree” icon on the Mac desktop
- Ethernet driver
- Serial drivers
- SCSI Manager (old-style) emulation
- Emulates extended ADB keyboard and 3-button mouse
- Uses UAE 68k emulation or (under AmigaOS and NetBSD/m68k) real 68k processor

I never met a pirate that shared? Apart from Cpt Pugwash, was he a pirate though? Master Bates ‘n’ all that
don’t forget Seaman Staines, eh Ben ;)
Very very cool and interesting, good luck to you J.F.
next up, windows
aaahh… what is this app good for?? what can we do with it?
Mac II had some pretty good music notation software so i supose you could use it for that, thats if you can find the software lol.
i used to use composers mosaic which was pretty good for its time
no use to me since getting a ROM image for it would be illegal and I definately do not own a 68k Macintosh.
So has anyone got this to work?
If so what image file did you use?
How big was the file, and where do you put the image file?
FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR ROMS:
Apple has released Mac OS 7.5.5 for free. First, download this package: http://www.mediafire.com/?pt2my0ngxyt extract the files in ‘hardfiles’ and ‘roms’. Download Basilisk II PSP Port (Test 20) from this page, extract it and copy the files you extracted from the above link to their respective directories. In Basilisk II, under volumes, set the first “File:” to the one you downloaded, then create another volume of any size you want and set the second “File:” to it. Hit O twice to start Mac OS. It should ask you to name the new volume you created. Open ‘Mac HDD’ and select everything, then drag it to your new volume. Shut down Mac OS. Start Basilisk again, and this time set the first “File:” to the one you created, and clear the second file. Start Mac OS again and it should rebuild the desktop file, and you’re good to go.

Read my comment above. It includes the Macintosh BIOS ROM and a 30MB pre-installed Mac OS 7.5.5 volume, which you can move to your own volume.
GG-Xtreme

Follow the instructions in my comment above.
man ppl dont read the first comment
Thank alot man works very well.
can this run any games or progams for mac
Yes, but anything that requires more than 12MB of RAM won’t run, and don’t expect everything to run at full speed.
Edit: Unless you have a slim, then you can use an additional 32MB of RAM, which should be plenty for a Mac.
can i play the old old kidpix with this?
Hi, what about internet? Would it be possible? TV out?
TV out works on the Slim. No internet.
When i run it i get a compressed version that is hard to see. how do i fix this?
