Update: Oh, that was fast — PSP firmware 4.05 is out now. Download it below or via Network Update.
Soon to be occupying your PSP’s flash memory is firmware 4.05… That’s according to Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations –
I wanted to give a quick heads up to everyone that a new PSP firmware update, v4.05, will be released soon. We know that more and more of you are listening to music on your PSP, and this update will add new visualizers for music playback, among other features. Enjoy!

I don’t wanna have more visualizers but ogg-support. When I’m listening to music my PSP is in my pocket. Maybe it’s just a disguising to bar home-brew again.
All firmwares are designed to curve and close up and stop or lower home brew development.

Seriously when will sony stop releasing those weak updates, they seriously bring nothing and are just pointless. The PSP doesn’t seem less dead just because the release new firmware numbers with nothing to bring. Weak!
ok it may be weak but you noticed how they didnt skip to like 4.10? they are doing little by little. And hey it’s still a cool feature. More features is nice.

and lets not forget that since 3.50 the processor could have only be used for 2/3s of its power. that means longer load times and god of war would have probably have slow downs and frame clips.
i agree that the updates have been weak lately but we’re getting little by little so it doesnt really matter.
just remember, you dont have to update, you can wait until the fetures pill up and get them all at once

It’s not just the Visual efect that was updated. It was also recording features for the 1seg TV attachment that’s sold in JP(Japan). Now they released 4.05 here to keep it even for all PSP users.

W/e I’m cool with it, I don’t use my PSP for anything other than music now, so the new visualizers are game with me…I wish they would up sound output w/o me having to use a program…not going to convert gigs of music one at a time. I’ll be waiting for the m-33 of this.

I think this was a update sony could have done with out. I think Sony released it is be cause they would not know a good update if it was made for them. Oh wait good releases are made for them my m33. I say if Sony released this update to do more then just add new visualizers for music playback, like remove the useless in xmb search then it maybe could have been good. Till then we just get this shit from Sony and not the good that the home brew people bring us like the m33s cfw and the apps the home brew programers make too.

It is very interesting that you find the psp boring. I am too getting this vibe. 3 years, 6 different psps, the camera accessory and over 32 games (most bought at the pawn shop), it is getting boring. The emulated games (SNES, NES, Gameboy, Sega systems) can make this system playable till 2050 without a sweat, but lack of ‘new’ stuff except for official games makes it starting to be rather dull. I am going to box up my 3 best systems (Ones a jap blue one which never really was out of the box anyway), sell the other 3 and wait a couple years till near the end of the psp’s lifecycle when more development has taken place. Is the psp dead, not for the new comers…but for the long timers, its the same old stuff. The real fun stuff is behind us, when we actualy had to mess around with e-loaders and hacks, back in the good old 2.xx firmware days. I actualy miss them, because it was a challenge…and every peice of software you installed or ran, you were praying to God it wouldnt brick on you. Fun days of yore.
I agree, ive been there since i bought my 1.5 psp. All that keeps me using it the old school emulators, there are 0 games that i find interesting, and i dont know, if anyone could help, but alot of my PS1 games are freezing on the new 4.01 M33-2, anyone else experiencing this?
Easy solving… download the last plugins and enable them in recovery mode… the first time you enter in the game you’ll have a list of firwares to choose from… 3.72 never let me down…
Sony should not make and update like that. The best option really are M33 firmwares. But I agree with you guys.. It was fun downgrading the old fat PSP and running apps to run games.

yea that was fast i think this update was with 4.01 but didnt have time 2 put it but thats juz me i mean im 12 years old and spent hours learning how to put cfw on my ofw 3.95 to 3.95 gen and now i put cfw on any people i know that have a psp but back to the point i think they might make 4.05 gen because DA is working on the next m33
gen is a good attempt at custom firmware but I will be a while before it is as good as m33 so switch to DA’s firmware
i have switched to DA 4.01m33-2 u stupid a** gen has some other features better than DA but DA has eveything working better than gen i know so shut the F$#@ up

dump 4.05 and replace the visualizer.rco, visualizer.prx, and music_player.prx files. that’ll give you the new visualizer (which isn’t that great)

I had downloaded version 4.05 from this site and runned it on my PSP which was used to run on version 3.90 M33.Later,I found out that my PSP can NO longer run any downloaded ISO games…I tried several ways to downgrade version 4.05 to 4.01 or lower but failed to do so..Please,help from anybody..?
only way now is a Pandora battery since you now have official firmware. next time make sure its CFW (it will say).
