Custom Firmware 4.01 M33 Released

Ah, ha! Where we last left off Sony unexpectedly released firmware 4.01 while Dark_AleX was in the midst of developing 4.00 M33. Today, the continuation of our episode has come to a delightful end. Dark_AleX strikes with force and delivers the much anticipated custom firmware 4.01 M33.
4.01 M33 changes:
- Bug fix: vshmenu didn’t let change camera mode due to camera_plugin using select button. Fixed, now vsh menu will not be loaded when using the camera.
- Recovery can now be translated, See how below. Translation to Spanish is auto included.
- Updated the M33 SDK with a new function and sample, and released the psp-packer tool to compress prx’s and PBP’s in the ~PSP format.
- The folder of 4.01 and higher homebrew will be GAME4XX so it won’t need change on update.
Also mentioned in the readme: the 1.50 kernel add-on for the PSP Fat will be released tonight.

guys have Download the Fw4.01 and b4 the M33 is launch after which i tried to run the V4.01M33 show me some error. tried many time still the same erroe message any idea what i should do ….
you have to have cusotm firmware to run it so now you need to use a pandora batter to downgrade

I’m currently using 3.9 m33-3
They will work the same :) Once you upgrade go into recovery mode and re-enable your plugin…..

Just to be clear…sony releases 4.00, realizes there’s a problem and rushes 4.01 out the door…
This causes DA/M33 absolutely NO problem whatsoever and he just creates CFW 4.01, seeing as there’s no reason to make 4.00M33 and 4.01M33…
Maybe I’m going out on a limb here, but my guess is that DA is, in fact, God…

But after having done it myself let me say it should have been obvious that a 3.xx patch isnt gonna work on a 4.xx firmware lol.

problem solved. I format the memory stick and left the volume label empty because before this I always rename my ms volume label.

3.95 GEN is a custom firmware (CFW) not an official firmware (OFW).
And no, you can’t directly upgrade.
What the hell is with can they not read the readme.txt in the rar file. Read every possible reference that the rar file has to offer before asking questions. I mean, I don’t mind answering but common the freaking file that explain is right in your face!

When trying to update to 4.01 M33 via Network Update from 3.90 M33-3, I get the message that I am already running the latest version, and that there is no need to update.

Worked great 4 me! If U should have problems, then just download the files manually, put it all in the PSP/GAME/Update folder and do it from there! (c readme)

Except the standard Sony updates, playing videos with 0.5x-2.0x with sound, and searching from XMB on google, there is not much. @ least not yet. So no real need 2 update. Ur ctfs wont work anymore!
Any1 has any idea how I can manage 2 run FF VII ps1 on my PSP?? It always freezes after I choose new game.
Where is the fucking save state here in this firmware Dax? Does Cwcheat work in this firmware? Is it Stable? Does Custom Firmware Extender work in this firmware? DaX plaease add more features in this firmware: just like hide a file or game.

I used CWCheat on three games– Jeanne D’arc, Killzone Liberation and Thrill Kill– and everything worked and seemed to be stable. I Obviously only put limited time into each, but it worked well.

I just updated my PSP from cfw 3.90m33 to 4.01m33, everything seemed to be fine except that my favorite CXMB themes are no longer working! How could that be? Were those themes not compatible with this update? Are there any other themes like those that work with 4.01m33?

You’ll need the new CXMB, which you can find posted a couple of times in these comments. Be advised that none of your 3.90 CXMB themes will run on 4.01 though. They’ll need to be upgraded.

If you’re on 3.95 GEN you can’t just upgrade to 4.01 M33. You’ll need to downgrade and then upgrade to M33 firmwares.

I have 4.01 m33 and 1.5 kernel add on, and when im in a homebrew and i put it into sleep mode and i try to get it out of sleep mode, it just shuts off. how can i fix this
Did it do that before you updated to 4.01 M33? Many homebrews and emulators freeze in sleep mode, and there’s no fix (unless the dev of that app fixes it in a subsequent release).
booster’s multi ipl and sleepfix ipl. try that

use psp grader lite v005 and then just use the program to put the ipl on your ms

Can somebody tell me if (icons, fonts, waves, gameboots) from 3.80 are compatible with this?
gameboots will always work because they aren’t firmware specific. on the other hand, opening_plugin.rco has to be converted to 4.01 but i know that you can still change clicking sounds and also custom volume bars still work. and i’m pretty sure fonts should still work.

Bricked my Phat running 3.90 m33 3. While updating it stopped at 92% and said “update failed FEEEEEE” not sure why. Had to use pandora to fix.

gen is a very good cfw becuz it can make a pandora’s jij-kick battery on the recovery menu and back 2 normal easy. Dark_Alex makes cool thing 2 like cxmb he need to make jij-kick battery on the recovery menu only (i have 2 psp one with 3.95 gen and the other with 3.90 m33-3 both r so cool
4.01m33 can NOT run cxmb’s i do not like that and 4.01m33-2 can NOT also. I hope that they fix that or i stay on cfw 3.90m33-3 (i have a psp with 3.95 GEN to make my pandoras jij-kick battery to fix my first psp so i have 2 psp’s,one to fix the other and the other one to test every thing on. this is a really good idea everyone 2 have 2 psp’s
CXMB do work, @ least the new CXMB file is already out… now we just have 2 wait for a converter, or some 4.01 themes! But they will come in a few days 4 sure!

I tried to downgrade via pandora but creating pandora won’t even work. the same error message “This game could not be played ” with some digits that starts with 8000XXXXX

Hi everyone. I can’t update to this from 3.93 m33-3. It shows Psp screen and then freezes and after awhile shuts down my psp. Does anyone know if this is normal or I have a wrong setting in recovery?

same problem with the 92% error. It will actually load to about 84% then the memstick light will stop blinking, following by the % slowly creeping up to 92% where I get the error and have to unbrick the psp.

I even tried going from 1.5 to 3.52 m33-3 to 4.01 m33. Still freezing with the “update failed contact technical support” message at 92%. We may need to wait for Despertar del Cementerio 6 to update. Anyone have any suggestions?
