Is something fishy going on? Coming real soon, in the next few hours actually, Sony plans to release firmware 4.01. Eric Lempel says –
- Display of search results under Internet Search has been improved for certain languages.
- Playback of video content under Video has been improved for certain file types.
Hrm… I bet.
But not only that — some related firmware news… Dark_AleX shared a few details concerning custom firmware 4.00M33. It’s basically a “behind-the-scenes” update. Save state support and in-XMB recovery will likely follow, perhaps in 4.00M33-2.

Well, in my small research in OFW 4.01, there’s a patch within it. But the Hole in it is that when using the internet search tool, it have been a glitch of it that leads to the flash in 4.00. Thats why they want the improvements in 4.01.
But I will soon send the decrypted form of 4.00 and 4.01 to show to any homebrew devlopers. But Dark_Alex, if you read this, if you do your part, I will do mine. Even if you retired in making cfw, ill be there to start making cfw soon.

I think sony knows they screwed up and pulled the 4.00 and 4.01 will actually end up the 4.00 release on their site… Just my opinion tho.
No, I’m thinking they found a mistake in 4.0 that could lead to a downgrader. Remember with other firmwires this is what they did.
Yep, thats true. When you see sony release a firmware then release another one within a week or so. Dont upgrade. Something on that firmware could be a result of a hole to downgrade or to flash something to flash0:/ and to the nand.
Sony can’t EVER make a firmware update that will stop pandora. only a hardware revision could stop it.

It is very unlikely to have them force us to upgrade. because not everyone is near wifi so it’s not possible.

Wrote him a mail, hope he took my idea into consideration. If U download ftom a URL you can only save 2 music, video, pics, or common. But never 2 ISO. Hope he integrates it on his page… its really annoying and uses up alot of space 2 DL an Iso and then haveing 2 copy it. Got my own prv Apache running, so I could update my psp from anywhere in the world!
ALEX plz integrate this in 1 of ur INCREDIBLE Updates!!!

this “you have to update” crap is always getting more annoying. the good old nes, psx, ps2 worked well without. really sad. instead of trying to stop hacks they should just continue, not everyone wants iso-loader or such things and those are the people who are getting annoyed as any iso-loader/homebrew user wan’t update until it’s “safe”.

I think so, Yes!!! since 3.80 m33 DA integrated that the Update function will update straight from his site. The only reason why it might not work, is because:
a)his site is down
b) he might change his domain. But I guess he’ll wait until 4.00 is ready!

i dont understand, how does sony figure out what the next ‘number’ firmware will be? i never understood this is. my theory is that however big (the more that is added)the update is, the higher the number jump goes.. am i right?
I believe that when they do a “major” update they jump from for example 3.50 to 3.60
But smaller updates like bug fixes just jumps from 3.50 to 3.51
when a feature is added its + .10 when its bug fixes its +.01. im just assuming

I trust Dark Alex and his updated firmwares, but that Black Sunday hack just spooked me a bit. I will be returning all my psps to their original Nand state, then upgrade them to a lower firmware, something like 2.71 hen c. I suggest until we find out whats going on, people should stay at or below 3.71mm. This is quite unnerving….
Its ok. stay lease up to 3.90m33 or under to be sure. But if you have any type of problems with the psp’s near 4.00m33 then before you do anything else, BACKUP YOUR NAND.
i dont think we have to worry so much about the “black sunday” thing. CFW probably makes sony more money than they even know. how many people you know went out and bought a psp just so they could put CFW on it? i know about 10 personally. i know if i didn’t have CFW i wouldn’t go out and buy any of the whack ass games that companies are putting out. i would have ditched on my psp long ago without CFW. not to mention the MS PRO DUO cards even, sony sells those too you know. thats just my thoughts on the subject. i don’t have much to worry about anyway since i’m not gonna update from 3.71-4 M33 unless we get something epic like like straight up full on AVI support with no conversion or blow j’s or something kool like that
I wish they find away to put flash player 9 on to the psp.
I find every person very stupid who requests this feature. Don’t you realise flash is so slow on psp and you want them to support the new version which requires more cpu to be to even run. What is the point since the psp cant run any decent flash game at a reasonable or at more playable speed and yet you be the idiot who request to support the new version when it already has problems with the current version. If you still don’t get it, most flash games that are version 9 require 2ghz cpu minimum so unless you like playing a game or even an animation at 1 frame per 10 seconds quit saying it is a feature that needs to be implemented.

From what I know. I believe theres a glitch in the new google search tool.I think it saves cookies to the flash0 not like internet browser and saves cookies to flash1. Maybe they found away to send .rco or .prx or any kind of file to the flash0 that will allow us to enter and downgrade the PSP flash0. Hence the reason why they are releasing and update so fast. With no real description.
