Project4 v1.6180 Released
greg | June 23, 2008
Auraomega’s Project4 is out of beta and all up in your PSP’s flash. Project4 replaces the XMB entirely operating directly from flash memory. It’s the first of its kind debuting back in December of ‘07.
The Golden Ratio marks a real milestone for the homebrew project. Allow me to quote Auraomega –
The major updates for this version come in usability, and user friendliness. The first update is a new easier to read configuration file, which now supports comments and more options, this gives an easier and more varied look for Project4, by simply changing icon placement or colours, and there’s no more in depth thinking as to which part you are editing, the information is all there in the file. The next thing is shortcut buttons, a file located in flash1:/P4/ can be used to link programs to buttons (and I may hazard a guess to say files too, but I’ve not tested), meaning if you want to have something like iRShell on there for loading the web browser or whatever, you can simply press the key combo and its launched. The main update though, the one that’s driven me over the barrier of insanity and back into sanity in a full circle… plugin support of files. This expands Project4’s usage far beyond its original capabilities, simply editing the shortcut file in flash1:/P4/ will allow a program to load a file thus supporting any file that can be used by another application, its still not working how I wanted it working, because some files will not be opened by the application, I am currently looking into possible ways to fix it.
There’s also some nice graphic changes, namely in EBOOT loading, in old versions you just got the “Request” menu screen, in this version it will strip out the background image and icon image of the application, and blit it to the screen giving you a far better sense of what it is you’re loading. This has caused some minor problems with loading odd files, in some cases it causes the system to crash (I’m not sure if this is just my PSP or others as well, had no reports and a lot gets corrupted on my card whilst testing), if this is the case loading the file while pressing the left shoulder button will bypass this.
Furthermore, Project4 sports a small selection of useful apps — calendar, calculator, stopwatch… Most of which are still pretty basic and likely buggy. Auraomega notes these features will be improved with future releases.

oo yeah first coment btw has anyone tried this
tried it, BSoD my PSP 2 times, thank god for PANDORA
This is useless y would you want to try this junk.
Do you even know what it is?
don’t mind him, he’s just a faggot.
…what are we trying to do with this?
well i like trying out stuff … cause i simply like too .. anyways ima try it out on my phatty .. anyways great work :D
so this is a shell replacement?
No, it’s a XMB replacement; it’s not like iRShell, this program completely replaces your XMB.
Well…. I like the idea of replacing the xmb. I love customizing what I can so I might just try this out.
Nice work.
It is a psp bricker.
Thats What recovery is for and Pandora…Beta testing is the only way to truly asses the stability of software. Project4 has been around for a while so Im willing to brick and recover a few psp’s in process to promote PSP evolution.

Crap, I almost read this as Project64 … :( oh well
If this is installed, can u go back and replace the gui with xmb?
Personally, id use nervos cause pirata is a realy good programmer who’s been making apps for the psp for a realyy long time and knows the ins and outs of the psp’s code and nand.
Error code 0×80010002
in function loadplugins
in file main c
action pspsdkloadestartmodule
errorloading p4ml.prx
try removing your UMD and In Recovery Enable No UMD

The download links should be removed.
It’s no good, it’s poorly packaged and WAY to risky.
Most people have bricks with this.
DONT DOWNLOAD THIS
Wait for a noob-proof version. This version, from the post i’ve seen bricks almost every time.
SOLUTION.
Ok if your getting that error go to Recovery mode (hold R at boot) and go to advanced and click FLASH1. Go to the P4 folder and put the p4ml.prx in there and a theme in the VSH folder.

Thanks to DrBaronVonEvilSatan for the link.
than you it worked, still a little buggy but better than the last release i tried. thanx again.
No problem. It is still buggy. Reset PSP doesn’t work and al ot of other stuff. But like you said, it is better than last release. oh and also you can’t change the font colors and such : /
@MissMei: Did _your_ psp brick when you tried Project4?
I strongly suspect that you haven’t even tried it, and are commenting on the comments left here. Try it out before you make any remarks about bricking.
Come on. Miss said that most posts about this report bricks. Why does the person have to have first hand experience before trying to help out or give advice?! For all you know, Miss read about 100 reports of pricked PSP before deciding whether or not to install it, douche. I think you shouldn’t assume the worst and then try and rip people apart before knowing the facts.

ok ever get teh BSOD go into recovery mode and simply change file name to recovery and run Eboot from cfw recovery function and remove fully and re install fully see what happends had to do this 8 times till full installation
Yea, to everyone who is wondering what the flash0 drive is… DO NO DELETE IT!!! Because I now have a brick, tried to hardmod battery (tiny puff of smoke), and believe to have short circuited the battery trying to make my own pandora.
This is BS and very risky; The guy couldn’t even package a few themes or make it more user-friendly? And it sais about a million times “I take no responsibility; press X to continue”… As if he knew it wasn’t right.
Anyways ordered a cheap double life lasting battery from ebay, and 10 bux pandora from deal extreme…all in all, im never trying this again. Thanks alot for this, really.
Danny
dam danny lol i feel bad for you,
all hail pandora battery….heres the story….installed fine…but when said install sucessful …it froze and shut off…i turned it back on and it had thing basicly saying your psp has crashed and gave a long error code…..sooo….figured i would let you know for the future
Project4 doesn’t even use p4ml.prx anymore but Aura forgot to remove the function search on boot so even though it dousnt need it, if it cant find it. it will bsod
should be a new version out tomorrow
sorry guys
