Protect Me v0.92 Released
greg | June 1, 2008
Don’t like to share? Protect your PSP from unauthorized use with MaxTheBest’s Protect Me. An EBOOT / PRX combo adding password authentication before the XMB is loaded.
Protect Me v0.92 improves overall usability and corrects many bugs.
Protect Me v0.92 changes:
- Now when the alarm is played, the PSP volume is automatically set to maximum volume (noisy little trick ^^)
- An option menu has been added (working with a file which is ms0:/seplugins/config.mtb)
- In the option menu you can set to play the alarm sound after 3 wrong passwords or not.
- The Credits have been updated
- The credit, the option, and the set password menus have been modified so you can more easily exit (exit key used to be different in each menu, now it’s the same.)
- Now, when you set the password, a confirmation message is displayed, telling you what password you are trying to set, and asking you if you still want to set it or not.
- Colors have been changed in some menus (No more red, it was too much ‘aggressive’ wasn’t it?)
- Menus have been optimized
- Now splash screen is only displayed at first use, and then it isn’t (so you can access menu faster…)
- The On Screen Keyboard has been modified, it used to be kind of complicated (when you pressed up or down, you never happened to go to the letter you wanted to go to… now you should)
- Many minor bugs have been corrected…

can it still be disabled by removing the mem stick or in recovery before it promps you to input a password?
of course no mem stick,no prx/eboot.
some guys at maxconsole http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?p=951407 try to use it on flash0 but get bricks only by now – i want to see it on flash0, too – so it cant be disabled via ms-eject or plugin deactivation
Alright guys heres a way to get around the “remove the MS” thing:
Set your battery to pandora and your MS so it’ll boot (using a pbattery maker like that “sapphire” one on here or others that got the option of making your MS boot the normal XMB) Now that way if someone takes out the MS your PSP won’t boot at all without a MS rigged to boot.
This will make it so someone who dont know about plugins or riggin a new MS probally won’t be able to figure it out
Thats how i have mine
so it wont turn on with out a ms
i have my pandora battery (because i have no other battery to use) just used the files from time machine so it could turn on just the top two choices on timemachine
i dont think they will be able to turn it on unless they use a diffrent battery and or a ac adapter wich i dont think people carry it with them and if they did on theres why would they whant mine
No offense but that’s retarded. You’ll be out of a psp the moment that memory stick goes corrupt or lossed.
yeah this should really be made into a flash0 app becuase this is really pointless the way it is
Btw, the app doesn’t follow the PSP’s GMT settings.
My zone is GMT +8, and the app always shows the PSP access denial following GMT +0.
Is there any way this could be fixed?
Thanks for this report, I’ll fix that in next version.
@Anyone waiting for a flashed version: That release (0.92) was somehow the PRE-FLASHED version: it corrects almost all bugs I have been able to find, all the menus, and everything should be working very well, and all the features I wanted ProtectMe to have have been added, so, I don’t see anything else I could ad to protectme (but the GTM bug correction…)
So, I’ll be able to focus on the way I’ll flash this plugin, as I won’t have anyother things to do.
So you might soon see preotect me coming into it’s final & flashed version.
Stay tuned, And thanks for all the bug reports/support/feedsback, and whatever else.
Hey thanks for the update.
I’m glad you are someone who really cares for suggestions.
Hey, no problem Max.
Hope to see the flashed version out soon!
Keep up the good work, man!
hey my password when starting up works but when i put on standby and turn it back on they still have access to my menu?? how do i fix this?
Hey help i installed it and set the password, but wen i turned my psp off and den back on, it didnt ask me for a password
HHMM, Hold the R button when turning on the PSP, goto “Plugins ->” then enable the option that says “protectme.prx [VSH] (Disabled). Hope that works out for you!
Awesome Max!!!
Only to bad that u can disable it in the recovery menu…
but it’s a great plugin ;)
I’ll hope that u make a flash0 one, so it will be harder for n00bs to enter my psp :)
Keep up the good Hacking
