Daedalus R14 (N64 Emulator) Beta Released
greg | May 26, 2008
Update: Not having much luck with Wally’s Daedalus? Well another [unofficial] R14 release has sprung up from CaptainMorgan4. Here’s what the Captain had to say:
Since Wally released his updated version of the R14beta I find it basically harmless to release here the R14beta I have from the previous “Daedalus R14beta” thread not too long ago. Anyway I believe it’s pretty stable it works great with my PSP so I figured I’d let you guys check it out.
Daedalus Lives!
Wally has picked up the seemingly silent StrmnNrmn Daedalus project and has issued R14 beta.
Newcomers should know Daedalus emulates the Nintendo 64 console; it’s in the beta stages of development and many roms aren’t playable. Although, you should still give it a shot — Daedalus deserves it.
Longtime readers — R14 exhibits some improvement, but is said to be slightly buggier. You win some you lose some.
Daedalus R14 changes:
- A bit of ME support
- A tad faster
- A bit buggier.
- New Icons etc
Known issues:
- Debug menus popup – these are bypass-able by pressing the SQUARE button and shouldn’t be very often.

ALRIGHT! i test it out thanks!
will*
on the last release ive played
mario 64
smash brothers
with no sound they are very playable, not overly slow – very playble and enjoyable
until zelda and perfect dark or at least golden eye are playable i think it is kinda pointless releasing these updates, but still glad to hear the project lives. keep up the good work mate.
This is a horrible version dont download i cant even play Smash Brothers anymore without it crashing and being very bugged
Hmm… that sucks. How does mario play?
Holy crap… I’m glad this project is still alive. I’ve been waiting for this.
But can Wally really take StrmnNrmn’s place on the Daedalus project? Find out in a the future episode of “Daedalus” on the psp-hacks network.
This object has been blocked? huh
I never tested SSB I admit, i’ll get around to it soon though :)
Wally
Piihb
Good job on keeping it alive, and for the people that are complaining..THIS IS A BETA.
Hahaha finally i’ve been waiting for this for ages even though its only a beta release -_- anyways good job keep it up
This has been in the making for over 1 or 2 years now it has not gotten much better why would you play a game with no sound its retarded. WELL at least someone is still trying i guess.
let’s see you code something better, you ungreatful fuck.
no i agree with jayzen, i have been using psp hacks since it was born, and this development of the n64 emulator is a good idea but lets face it its been way to long! and all the beta releases get are “a little bit faster” no real improvments, face it guys the psp is not suposed to play N64 games and its seems by looking at the “CODE” etc, its way to complicated. the n64 emulator on the pc was never all that good, even the one for the xbox, you could not play a game properly and if you did it would crash! i have tryed many different ways to get it working but same result everytime. and it think the psp version is just the same.
and dont be sad by giving comments like you ungreatfull fuck, and lets see you come up with somthing. if you want to play the n64 games go buy an N64 of ebay for about 20 quid and some games for 2-4 quid each. because believe me you will be waithing years for this!
And that means you should tell the coder or us to stop wasting our time? Why don’t you leave it alone if you find its a waste. Especially don’t waste your time reading and replying to comments on a topic you don’t agree with…. oh wait.
I can play the games fine on a n64 or on my pc, but I would love a new way to play- on my psp. Tell me, how does this being in development hurt you? If you don’t like it stay the fuck out.
Oh and thanks to all the people who put their hard work and time into this project, I can’t wait to see the next version and its improvements- no matter how small they may be.
i never said i dont agree with it…? anyways your missing my point, i was informing other readers who may or may not have seen this development about the progress and just how long its been worked on.
i agree it would be great to have a NEW way to play but i dont think it will happen anytime soon…
and no it does not “hurt me”, theres nothing wrong in letting other people know about this homebrew. be it good or bad
you are right
I came.
glad to see Daedalus is still being worked on.
Has this version been leaked by someone or released by strmnnrmn as he hasnt mentioned it in his blogspot or even released it on his normal page.
Wally picked it up like it says in the news post.

Thanks
Dude, we’re with you. This is exactly what the GPL is for. Thanks for picking up the slack.
hey you guys i need help here i want to play the counter-strike v2.5 but i cant what am i suppose to do??
U guys that are complaining should really stop…
If u cant code a program like this then why are u getting angry at him??
He seems to be the only person working on this N64 project right now. And what if all of your bashing makes him lose hope?? huh?
We could be waiting a long time for a N64 emulator then!
Y’all need to use yer brains. Understand that they don’t even use tubes anymore so when the bugs get stuck in the transistors then it’s like way harder to get them out. DUH! Idiots… god…
By the way Wally: Thanks for the release, and taking the time to post a link to clear things up.
Will this work on a PSP slim, if so, how?
Drop it in the game folder with the roms.ini file from r13.
and set the kernel to 1.50 or leave it at 3.xx??
Leave the kernal as it is, just put it in the /PSP/GAME150/ folder.
Thank You Wally!! Awesome to see some improvements in this emulator…keep up the good work dude!
not working on my fat psp itFreezing :(
(3.90 m33-2)
there is a more stable version on http://www.strmnnrmn.com that CaptainMorgan4 released
Very nice! High five?
help it keep Freezing !
AHHH!!!!! I’m sooo stoked!! I cant wait to try this out!
i found this yesterday and BOOM! its on here today :) good call
how can u download games for this
To all those putting this down…..
*Pc’s play it fine
*The psp is capable, homebrews just not there yet
*Can you code it? No – STFU then
*No sound piss u off? How about no N64?
*No real improvements huh? Maybe they should never have released it? Maybe you look down in discrase at the homebrew community?
Think before you post you ungrateful pieces of shit.
LMAO! I agree 100%. People bitch when there is no update or release, the when it does happen, they just bitch some more. This place is full of bitches. Just be happy with what you get or make it yourself.
OMG “can you code it” how about can you yes thats you CODE IT??
and “no sound piss you off?” and no n64?
dude whats the fucking point! lets just go tell all the game manufacturers, fuck it, dont worry bout putting sound in the games why the fuck would we want that??
you stupid twat.
and no i dont look down in discrase to the homebrew community, there is lots of good stuff in here. but lets not forget that were talking about this ONE piece of homebrew not the whole community, this is one developer!
i think your the one that needs to think before you post.
oh and one big thing to all people saying your getting this shit for free so dont bitch. did you ever think to remember the DONATION via paypal? and thats what keeps the good developments alive???
Word up…. bout time somebody said that.
why the fuck are you guys rambling on about this “n64″ (what ever that is) emulator when you could be at home giving your sister double penetration with your dad.
Probably some whining retard from higher up the comment list who got owned. -_-
On a higher note good job! Cant wait for a more stable version(mainly so ungrateful whiners will sthu)
gay.
I cant get it to work at all on my psp slim. can anyone please help?
I cant get it to work at all on fat r slim.
See Foolmonkey’s comment. He posted a link to Captainmorgain4’s beta. Fat & Slim versions both work quite well. Also try using the roms.ini file from r13 with Wally’s release.
can you 2 elaborate more on what seems to be the problem so we can help you. i have a slim and a phat and daedalus works on both
I’ve downloaded this version here, and CaptainMorgan4 release and both seem to do the same thing.
I’m running 3.90 M33-3 on my Slim.
What happens is I try and load the game file then the blue screen comes up. So I keep pushing square. Then it seems to freeze and about a minute later the PSP shuts its self off.
ohh! got it to work :D
I used Wallys Slim version:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/96fafl
Thanks!
I have 3.93 CFW and I can’t seem to start it. I have it in my Game150 folder, and my kernel is set to 3.93. Any help??
oh yeah, and i’m using a SLIM
Does it run Mario Kart?
It runs it like 10% better~!
+ Donkey Kong 64 you can get past the main menu now. I can’t wait till you can play DK64!
Keep it up guys, I would help if I knew how!
For some reason i cant start this i get a error
i have a psp phat 3.90m33-3
and i tried both this one and captinmorgans they both give me a error
THANK YOU! This is the only thing I have been looking forward to for psps. Emulators are My life with the psp. Thanks.

To everyone bitching about Daedalus (any ver.):
Daedalus is FREE. I can hardly begin to fathom how much coding would go in to creating such an application, especially for a proprietary platform. Give the author some credit. This isn’t something he just up and did one day in a couple of hours. Consider all the hard work that went into the program and the fact that it is offered for free before you bash the author. It’s a work in progress- and a voluntary one at that.
Daedalus is a very impressive piece of software, regardless of the glitches.
how do u put daedalus 4rom ur computer into ur psp
ey i got this a few days ago and some games dont work how can i make theme work super mario doneky kong and mario kart al 64 super smash brosdoes work well lis respond thanx urgent
