Update: Pirata quick with the bug fix –
- Checks if you have more than 74% of battery, if you don’t, it tells you to press X to shut down or [] to continue.
- Checks if you have enough free space in your memory stick.
- Improved Installation and Uninstallation systems
- After any process is run it tells you to press X to shut down instead of continuing.
- Does not auto edit vsh.txt anymore (you must do it manually, this was proabably causing the memory stick problem)
Count the [PSP] shells, suckaduck! Actually, with respect to Homebrew Idol, only Pirata’s shell replacement counts, and it’s serious. Slamming iR Shell with some stiff competition — NervOS version 2.0.
I’ve highlighted the major enhancements with NervOS version 2.0; but really, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The release thread provides more detail and several NervOS screenshots. Ensure you read over the supplied (PDF) documentation as well.
Highlighted NervOS 2.0 features:
- File Browser: improved extension system, there should be no errors anymore.
- New original theme (by CO_ol)
- Improved keyboard: does not hang anymore
- Added support for March33, Normal and SonyNp9660 drivers
- Added 3 core files: usbhostfs.prx, ctrl.prx and isodrivers.prx
- NervOS Configuration: ability to change ISO Driver, disable/enable Are you Sure Question, change CPU speed, change font, disable/enable Splash Screen and disable/enable Log In.
- When exiting from NervOS, if you have the nosautoboot.prx enabled, it will not return to NervOS anymore.
- Improved screenshot function, does not overwrite saved screenshots anymore.

All sounds good except log in feature… Why would you share a psp? I think its silly…

I don’t think I’m quite following what “NervOS uses flash memory from now on” means. Doesn’t everything that runs on the psp use flash memory?

I installed NervOS on my PSP Phat (cf 3.90 m33) and everything was good. I made my username and password and was on my way. I went to log into it and it said I had the wrong username/password. Darn! I thought. I must have messed up. I thought to myself, “Well I can just use the Uninstall feature”. So i uninstalled it and then I restarted my PSP. And what is it that I come to find out? My PSP doesn’t play any homebrew, including the NervOs installer. The VSH menu didn’t even come up. As I went to see what the problem is, it looked like I must shut my PSP off the hard way (taking the battery out) and before I restart it, I have to take the memory stick out. After it starts up, I can get to the VSH menu with no problem and I can play a homebrew games. The only other problem now is that when I exit a homebrew game, I have to shut it off the hard way and do everything all over again, as stated above. I’m thinking it is a flash malfunction or some things might have been deleted from the flash in the Uninstall. All I know is I have a half working PSP. And it sucks. Any help?
THEdemolisher,you might want to try to reformat your flash 1 in recovery mode,or just do a normal “Restore Default Settings” on your psp settings.That might work.

I tried Recovery Mode – FAILED.
I’m out of ideas.
Try obtaining Flash Files for your psp version( many psp sites post a download link for them, just have to look) and than just overwrite the flash with the original flash files….

O had this problem yesterday and it happened to me when I had low battery.
I removed my ms and left the psp the whole night without it.
I tested NervOS SEVERAL times with more than 60% of battery and this never happened.
I am going to re-install 3.90 m33-3 when I get time to day.
Have you had low battery too?
Nevermind! I tested using a different memory stick and the problem is the other one, probably you had not enough space in your memory stick.
Go to -> format memory stick -> (backup anyting you want before) -> press X to format -> when done install NervOS again, works perfectly.
Remember this probably happened due to low battery or not enough space in the memory stick. But as I said before this DOES NOT TOUCH any flash0 files so there should be a reason for such thing to happen, there’s the fixing way.
do you have a pandora? if so pandora your psp…
I have a pandoras battery and I have a program to make a magic memory stick.
It won’t write.
And I have to say, this is the weirdest string of coincidences I have ever come across because no matter what I do, nothing helps.

I’m not sure if this is normal either.
To access Flash0 from my PSP (where the NervOs files are written) I need to have my PSP memory stick in. To put it in plain English, my PSP is f’d up.
Use Universal Unbircker. That’s all I know. This has never happened to anyone else’s psp. Did you have any flash1 space. That could be the problem. Click on my name and logon to this forum. It will help you
NervOS does not use flash0
My flash1 was wiped completely. The only NervOs files that were flashed were flashed to flash0.
That I know for a fact.

As I said, the only version that was writing to flash0 was a beta version and only used by me.

go to seplugins in the vsh menu in usb connection and erase the vsh text nos whatever
NervOS files are written in Flash1 not flash0, from what i understand(in NervOS uninstaller, says “Removing files from Flash1 as well as Ms0″
NervOS ONLY USES memory stick and flash1 partition so NO SYSTEM FILES ARE TOUCHED.
If anyone after uninstalling or installing NervOS cannot load homebrew, iso’s and enter the vsh menu.

i think there are too many bugs in this version i think i’ll wait for new one…

WHich bugs? lol..the installation one? NervOS 2.0 WAS TESTED LOTS OF TIMES and not problems were found in installation or uninstallation, may depend of the memory stick or probably the psp.
I updated NervOS to 2.0.1 and I hope it fixes that memory stick problem.
when i said “bugs” i meaned the install/uninstall problem with mem. stick
and by the way i had to : formate mem. stick and formate flash_1

2.0.1 fixed that problem, and you it was not needed a ms format or flash1, just remove vsh.txt and voila!

can you make nervos log-in appear when you start-up PSP?
and whaen you turn off psp completly and then turn it on can you make that the log-in screen appears emediatly?

Create or Edit seplugins/vsh.txt and add this line:
flash1:/NervOS/system/nosautoboot.prx
then go to recovery (Custom Firmware Recovery) and activate the auto boot prx

(this is why i asked you how to make home the nervos)
lol that’s not a NervOS bug o.O, NervOS is totally freed after loading an ISO or Homebrew, and if it happened when nosautoboot.prx disabled then its not a NervOS problem for sure.

REMOVED AUTO EDIT VSH.TXT FEATURE, it was causing the memory stick problem I guess, I only had it after I added it yesterday and I tested a lot of times and my beta testers the whole week and no problems so I guess that was the problem.

Yeah, My psp briked after uninstallation of this shit. Neither Pandora Nor DC1-5 can Fix it. Tried everything. Its cool App, dont get me wrong, but once u uninstall it u get a Fucked psp.
IMPOSSIBLE NERVOS DOES NOT TOUCH ANY FLASH0 FILES, REMOVE THE VSH.TXT FROM YOUR MEMORY STICK (seplugins)

See. I was jinxed. As soon as people reported problems, I had a problem. And I’m Special, unless you can code and make a better one then STFU you homo. This can’t brick a psp. Format your memstick and it’s fixed or rerun the installer by booting the psp with the memstick out then put it in later.

Tried it and worked great, only one problem is everytime I changed setting, I had to enter user and password. User name and password should be appeared only when u cold boot ur psp (to me is BEST) or soft boot (might be ok). Hope next update will fix user/pwd all the time….hope to see more..more..more..great work.

problem instantly found with my phat go to install then enter the password/username area and i cant do anything, click on username tried all buttons to write something, nothing, screen goes blue then switches off – bummer, whats up??
RE-Download, that’s very weird and I am sure it is not my program’s fault as everybody seems to run it fine.
I installed and uninstalled no problem, works good, wish the picture viewer accessed the picture folder on the root menu instead of the one in the psp folder,…just shuts down when you dont have one there.

i’ve tried nervOS and installation and so went fine. had to do recovery, but after that all was well
i played around with it, but i fail to see what advantage it brings over using the XMB with the vsh menu and the music.prx plugin. i could not get music playing while in game, no gif support, and i forgot about a few other problems.
it looks ok, but still needs some work and extra features to convince me.

ive been in 3.71 m33 and been using irshell.. now seems to be the good time to update to 3.90 since theres a new shell which seems to be extremely good XD

i have cfm 3.93m33 . i open the installer. i click on install… then when it says create user name i click x to type in a username but it just goes blue and freezez then it turns itself off. the installer application works but when i go to type in a username or password it crashes… is it because it doesnt work on 3.93m33 ????
