Custom Firmware 3.95 — Coming Soon…

Big things poppin’ over at pspgen… Below is a video of the new upcoming custom firmware — 3.95 GEN.
A few things to note: CFW 3.95 GEN is still being tested; it’s mentioned POPs — the PSOne emulator — no longer works on the PSP Fat. This is likely due to hardware/memory limitations. The Recovery console is also accessed via Select instead of R-Trigger now. And finally, there is no date set for release, yet. Stay tuned for more.

Heh. I’m not impressed with what I’ve seen of it so far. Pops has always worked. I can’t imagine there were that many changes so it doesn’t work on the fat.
Plus, in the last version pops didn’t work at all!?

I’m thinking popsloader might be a workaround for this issue, though who really knows if the plugin will work on this. All that aside, alot of hard work(I’m thinking alot of nights and weekends) is going into this project and it’s taking shape, argue that there’s better all you want but you gotta remember that everything’s gotta start somewhere.

there is no use for that firm any ways there is no game that 3.71 m33 or 3.90 m33 cannot play the only thing i even remotely like with that firm and 3.93 m33 is the hide mac which doesn’t matter

noone,i agree.Of course it is still in development,and it’s not stable,but it’s a pretty good sign.At least users have a few custom firmwares to choose from,like last time around where we had OE and LE.

Sade no you can’t update it to this firmware.You’ll need a Pandora’s Battery,install 3.90M33 maybe using the latest DC,and then upgrade to this firmware,but as greg said,it’s pretty buggy so yea.

The 3.93 isn’t m33 jayzenfreeze its a custom firmware from pspgen and I agree with you it sucks not because its not m33 but because there were reports on this site that it bricked psps and even pandora couldn’t fix them (don’t know for sure but just in case I downgraded to 390-m33). The only thing the 393 custom firmware is good for is if your motherboard supports it you can make a pandora batter right from the firmware. Which is really nice for the lazy like me.
I tend to ignore comments such as “pandora couldn’t fix it” because anyone who is responsible would make a backup of the current nand prior to trying this. pandora install might not work, but a pandora nand recovery will always work on the psp it was created on. always!
The PS1 had less Ram than the PSP phat, so why should it become suddenly incompatible? its ridiculous
cleanblue, that is because the ps1 is being EMULATED, not run natively…that means they have to use software running on top of hardware, to make it seem like it is a different set of hardware. On average, it takes about 3x the power of the original hardware setup for it to be emulated on another hardware setup…this is not always the case, but with consoles, it usually is.
Simple
I’m pretty sure the psx binaries are run natively, with the psx libs patched to run native pops versions. Both machines use MIPS class cpus, so translator cores or dynarec cores are unnecessary.
Library patching would be easy for Sony because they already have the source to the original libs.
3.95 is a weird sounding number anyways, i think ill wait for 4.00

That’s probably because in Europe, our laws do not stifle reverse engineering. In the US the DMCA effectively makes disassembly of any code besides your own illegal.
it is fair tho think about it most stuff we make for psp only work on fat. so this one just for slim make the slim owner happy LOL
3.95 cfw has already been released on consolespot.net a few of my friends have been using it no problems. Myself i love creating ctf’s and themes so 3.90 is still for me. 3.95 doesn’t support making ctf’s, only supports using them

If the CFW 3.95 firmware is not made by dark-alex and on his site dark-alex.org then do not trust it. it could be just some software to brick your psp. dark-alex is the best and only person you should trust when it comes to making custom firmware for the psp cause he pretty much been doing this sence the psp first came out. Also what is so good about him and his cfw firmware is that if only miner things have been added to a new firmware by sony he just add them to the current one out at that time. Last with dark-alex’s cfw firmware for the psp you can get them 2 ways, 1 off his site or 2 via your wifi with your psp like you can do when getting official firmware from sony. So if the cfw 3.95 is not from dark-alex stay away from it and wait for dark-alex to release a new cfw firmware if needed or a update to his current one out.
Why in the whole hell should i ever update to the cfw 3.95 if a keyfeature such as the pops dissapears? No sir, you ain’t gonna infect my black baby! :)

dark alex has not stoped making custom firmware for the psp. the only reason he has not made a new one is because sony has not made a new one or a new one in witch nothing more then a patch to add the new stuff to the current one he made. so till sony make a new firmware that more then minor things added to it we will not get a new custom firmware from dark alex. last is dark alex leaves the scene i am pretty da*n sure we all would know about it and would think he would put it on his site (http://www.dark-alex.org/index.php?Dark_Alex=m33). so to think he has left the scene is dumb and not needed as he has not and will not leave the scene any time soon.
Competition is healthy, this cfw is for slim owners. I cant go without pops. I wait for DAX release. Lets wait and see the final release of this 3.95 GEN and we will make comparisons

I wouldnt nessasarily bash the previous 3.93 custom. I have a slim with this running on it iwth no problems. Even all the PSone games (well, i only tried 6) work flawlessly and just as good as the old Dax 3.90. Cant vouge for this new 3.95 yet, but as long as you have a nand and pandora for your system, I wouldnt hesitate to at least try it out.

I already dislike this firmware. No PSX loader for fat users, seemingly no real features that stand out, and it is not from an English-speaking source.
The reason I say this, is not cuz I do not like places of which that do not speak English, but due to the fact that the US and UK are the really big, major countries that use the PSP. Other countries do too, of course, but we are at a majority.
Although, I could just be wrong in saying this, since other countries have generally had to learn English/translate English to obtain info. from sites like these, and now it’s simply the the other way around.
So, I’ve gone through two opposing points, and stated my argument. What do you think on the matter?
With DAX, I think he is wicked cuz he has Spanish and English, and in my opion, that is just great!
When M33’s firmware came out, I was ALWAYS supporting them, way before DAX announced that he was them! The reason was because they (he) stood out, unlike this.
So, it’s not cuz this firmware is non-DAX created that I do not like it, but simply that there is nothing special about it, and in fact there is quite a major loss in it for us fat users.

Just because the one video you’ve seen is in French doesn’t mean that when it is released it won’t have English translations either.
I’ll wait until it comes out and I can personally test it before making a comment such as that.

yeah that blows about no PSone on fat psp thats what I got… but memory limitations? I could play ps1 games on the older pops so whats so special about the new one? I think they just left out fat psp’s because they wanna rush out the newest CFW and figure more people have a slim by now.. but i dont! :/

I downloaded it, and re-installed M33, it really is not different.
1st> WOW…select instead of R,
2nd> I am a Phat user, and PSOne lover,
3rd> Its good cause others are givin M33 a competition, but they need to come up with original stuff and not “Copy-Paste”
4th> Don’t mock till you try it, i did and i don’t lke it so I used my “magic” battery and got M33 back
Over All great that they came up with this, but they need to focus on both sides Phat and Slims, cause Slims just came out and Phats were out for a long time, and to screw up Phats …is not a good idea……if u don’t like comments then don’t read it….:oP…PHAT for LIFE

this has been mentioned by sony themselves,when the slims came out they were built with more memory abilities to process.that is why slims are much easier to accept all these firmwares and programs.some of whitch require large ammounts of mem speed and all.phats are no longer being made.products for phats are also dissappearing.face it.you need to upgrade to slim.otherwise your gonna end up with a psp that does not get any perks period.cfw or not

ok fans this the scoop.this is a new firmware so dont expect much, dark alex may have left but not certain because he said he was leaving,fact,soz if that upsets people but he did say he’ll do a few more but hes leavin cause of sony,an anyway i think hes waiting for version 4 because constant updates ar time consumin, i think he wants his life back.lol.anyway i lv this sites new revamp.anyway he does this free so my grateful plus there is hacks out there to get features from newest updates plus u can emulate firmwares so dont wry about the latest firmwares, check before u make a update cause iv had lots of bad experiences, its common sense to wait to check if there is any bugs
