Boost your PSP Volume — the Hardcore Way
greg | May 14, 2008
Grab your screwdriver, soldering iron, and loudspeaker… It’s time to pump up the volume like Christian Slater. The PHT (PspHackersTeam) have compiled a [french] tutorial detailing the necessary steps to do just that…
Passing the source URL through Google Translate will help the non-français speaking folk out. Lets just hope that’s accurate enough. So please, exercise caution should you attempt this mod.

Gunna wait till english version comes out, good work though PHT
cool! i wish i would finally boost my speaker up like mini theater
Not sure if the translated version explains it but the video didn’t seem to explain the proper type of speaker you should use or where to solder joints to.
Not a bad start but can use some extra info to show stuff. Awesome job!!! =)
good thing i speak french too
hey hes stole my face plate! :P
anyway i aint got the balls for this one
wee wee, pee pee, french frys.. thats as good as my french gets.. ;p
Uuhhh…. Spaghetti! ….heh heh heh. heh heh. (Beavis and Butthead reference)
How fast would it drain the battery though?
Depends on the speakers u use. U can calculate it: Ur avarage Battery has 1200 mAh that means that e.g. a LED using 5 mA would drain the Battery within 240 hours. But a speaker uses way more+ this doesnt take into consideration that the PSP has to be on! More Energy eficient sollution is mine. Check bottom.
French frys aren’t even french, for us they are from belgium. The freedom frys incident made us laugh really hard at the time :p
no offense or anything but for me it sounded like porn when i dont under a thing what he say LOL
Good Idea/Stupid solution/Stupid Comments!
Much smarter way to do this (dont worry, I’m already working on it) is to take A UMD and put the extra Speakers in there (in my case 3 small ones). This way you won’t waste ur UMD drive!
Ok, but how would the speakers be plugged in, without disturbing the drive?
Touch contacts on the top of the UMD and the UMD drive. Since UMD cases are not spinning, its quite easy. I’m probably gonna be done on Monday, then I will post my Speaker enhancement system.
I’m sorry, but isn’t this just soldering a bigger speaker to where one of the little speakers get their input from? And when you only solder one big speaker to one of the little speakers you are only getting a signal from the left or right…why not make it mono? or have 2 speakers and find a better place to put them…?
Neat idea, but the way i understand it, you would only get signal from one speaker, and it wouldn’t sound as good as it could.
That’s also why I want 2 put 3-4 small speakers into a UMD.
And you could put a sub woofer in your backpack and carry it around like it was one of the first mobile phones.
:P
Usually I am pretty cool with all these neat ideas. but honestly, who needs more speakers on a PSP, the camera idea is cool, but from what I have already heard and again this is a first for me to say but the whole idea is just ridiculous , lol
i don’t think it’s ridiculous, i actually think it’s a damn good idea…now all i need to know is that will it produce decent sound, and how to set it up (in english)…because you see, me and my friend go on biking trips pretty often, and it sucks to use earphones there, we both want to listen to music, but syncing our psp’s for every song is real troublesome…so basically i need more powerful speakers, and this is the best solution i’ve seen so far…great job guys..
why not put a sound system on your bike and still use your PSP as ur music media. in that way you can be sure to have a powerful speaker where ever you are.frm where i am it’s very common to have a bike with such big and loud speaker…..
file not in the web??
i need the info plzzzzz
