Music PRX for CFW 3.90 M33

greg | May 1, 2008

For some reason or other Sony has yet to incorporate a simple means of playing your own tunes while in game — both on the PSP and PS3. But, thanks to the Homebrew Gods, this is possible after all — on 3.90+!

Cpasjuste has recently ported the Music PRX plugin to custom firmware 3.90 M33. Enjoy your own mp3s and atrac3 files straight from your memory stick’s MUSIC directory. Cpasjuste also notes, “this has been tested on a 3.90 M33-3 slim PSP, WITHOUT the fatmsmod patch applied.”

If you’re running an older custom firmware, use this version.

forgot to mention this ,you know the home screen ,when pressing the home button you get a gray screen with only one option (exit) mp3.prx would be perfect in that menu as it works in the same way at any point in psp when its running games, vsh, homebrew, web browser.

another thing would be to add mabe the take a snap shot prx ,sorry dont know the proper name for it but it would be relevant to being able to take a snap at any time.

would love to see this on that old crappy gray screen , and i recon it would and defo should win the comp on at the moment.

You can use CWCheat and assign a button to screenshot, like the Note Button.

IGM In-Game-Mute does not work…I hope that gets fixed soon cause the plugin is basically useless until then.

I installed it properly (3.90 M33-3) and it doesn’t work. When i hit NOTE + LTRIGGER, the MS orange led starts to blink for some seconds and then nothing happens. What did I do wrong? Does this happen to anybody else?

the notes say you should be using Select + LTRIGGER.

Mine works fine in the XMB but I can’t get it to work in game.

Make sure you added it to ‘vsh.txt’ and ‘game.txt’ respectively in the seplugins folder and make sure that yo have no extra spaces after the plugin names. Also, disable any other plugins.

I read on qj that this was supposed to work with fatmsmod. (But eh, variables makes results different all the time)

Can anyone write a HOW TO? Cuz the way the description was written doesn’t explain too well. Plus, it doesn’t mention what to do with the music_src folder. Then it says “If you do have plugins, copy music_conf.txt, music.prx to the seplugins
folder”, this I understand…..but then it says “and add ms0:/seplugins/music.prx to vsh.txt/game.txt.” WTF do they mean by this. I understand the string, but my vst.txt already has that string in it. Can someone help? PLZ!

I agree, a how to would be nice. I put the plugin folder where its supposed to go and enabled. When I try playing a backed up umd it doesnt work. Plus I dont know what to do with that music_src folder

if you got game.txt and you already put the line
ms0:/seplugins/music.prx
and its still not working create a text file name game150.txt and game390.txt then add
ms0:/seplugins/music.prx

Ok. This release definitively needs some editing. I give credit for the person who converted it and made it compatible with the newest custom firmware at the time BUT, there was already other plugins that allowed this to funtion (such as CFW Extender 2.2 ). So, If I were you guys, I would install CWF Extender 2.2 UNTILL another release of this plugin comes out without so many bugs. The worst bug of this plugin is that you cannot play (in some cases) music during gameplay. For most people, that is the major cause for which they wanted this plugin anyway. Hope this info’s helpful,
DaSh.

playing a game using mp3.prx is fine,i usualy turn off ingame music via the options menu so its soundfx and custom music playing …. yer i know not all games have volume control … also all emus have disable sound in menu.

i had been on 3.90m3 and try’d this but not really happy with it ,so reverted back to 3.52 as it works perfectly with game, homebrew and psx.
