Never before featured on PSP-Hacks — Winnydows’ XviD4PSP.
Videophiles who use their PSP for such related things will find great interest in this app. Once locked and loaded you may easily convert videos for playback on the PSP, PS3, iPod, you name it…
And we’ll be sure to keep you posted on future updates.

Now, me being a Mac user, XviD4PSP seems a bit buggy under Parallels; nevertheless, it works, sort of… You will require the .NET Framework 3.0.

At, Bloody, Last.
wow, cool
Honestly fonder of 4.1.1.3, but at least my favorite video conversion tool finally made it to PSP-hacks. ^_^
cool!! i use this program a lot!
is this just another conveter? who really cares? there are a million ways to convert a file to mp4, i’d like to see a player that actually plays any format any dimensions, i dont mean to take away from this program it may be great but how many of these things do we really need, when there is only one really really old player that never gets updated
this is not another converter, this is the BEST converter, and it has a lot of filetype support.
SUPER is far better than this. And since when would anyone care about a new application having support for Xvid to PSP?
This has all been done ages ago.
No offense, but this is booorrrriinnnggg.
no i’ve got super, give this a try it’s better. far more options in quality and multi cpu support. makes my dual core run 100% not 50% like super does.
oh ok cool.
does this crop widescreen videos that have black bars?
xvid4psp is the best video conversion software, period. the name itself is far too limited to describe all the functions of the program though.
ever since i got used to this, i’ve never once needed another program for video needs.
The description given here is poor. This is software will allow you to convert from ANY format to ANY portable player. I’ve used it a little while ago, very good and easy software. Wish there were a linux version…
The program takes up way too many system resources. Don’t bother with it.
wow. FAIL, I just converted a video and it only took up 60.7MB of system memory, and both my 1.67GHz cores [nothing to be proud of] flinched. And I’m on Vista with DreamScene on [a mpeg as my background].
My computer was still able to function perfectly while converting the video. And I’m on a crappy laptop with just enough to run Vista.
ok i got dreamscene and dont know what the hell it is so would you mind telling me whats dreamscene for please
Dreamscene basically lets you set any MPG(MPEG) or WMV file as a background instead of a still image. It may sound dumb, but it doesn’t exactly display the first frame of the video, it plays the video as your background, sorta like VLC, except it’s more efficient being built into the OS
Why not just use mencoder?
3GP Converter ALL THE WAY with customizeable ini files, full 480×272 resolution, at absolutely any bitrate you can dream of. all it takes to run it is drag and drop, plus it’s FAST it’s all I use…
http://mobilehackerz.jp/contents/3GPConv
all you need is the ini file.
If you can’t download the english version from there, try afterdawn
Same was what I use, best quality, any format if you install the K-Lite codec pack along with it, I have yet to find a video it won’t convert.
peace
sorry, meant to say all you need additionally is the ini file, which kinda has to be created yourself, since I don’t believe it was some file i found, just some settings i found incorporated into an existing file the comes with the program
when you first run it, it comes up with the setup, letting you select the language
so wat changed since the last version?
What about Handbrake? I find that to be easy as well.
Videophiles?? Is that anything like pedophiles?? what the hell kind of homebrew are they making these days..?!
videophiles is an official term for people who love videos in every shape and form.. they know their stuff.. just like audiophiles.. it has nothing to do with pedophiles.. dumb ass.. look into the history of words.. or pick up a dictionary.. “-philes” is a suffix.. look it up
Yea I’m def with zephroelectro on this one. SUPER is by far the best convertion program out there for free. It will convert anything to what ever plat-form you want (psp, ps3, pda, etc.) or to any other type of media encoding type. Defintely give it a shot and it as well is as easy as drag and dropping into the window. http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html the download is at the bottom of the page may be a bit hard to locate at first but it’s there. XD

dude get on the forums tons of help for bricked psps
What you have is a semi-brick. Use this keyword to look for the solution in the right place: Google.
i’ve been using this for a while. great for burning subtitles into the video-file.
Yo, BENDERWOOO newb, this IS NOT A HELP FORUM! Nevertheless hacking is hard and I guess I’ll help. Reach me on CODEC Freq. 141.15.
Ha. Seriously Email me at raz0rfox@yahoo.com, Topic should be “Psp help”, otherwise I’ll ignore It.
Oh and any one else who needs it, I help one newb at a time and do it at my own pace (I will try to be quick).
Oh, any Spam… I’ll kill a f***er.
lol… CODEC Freq. 141.15…
Back to the topic, I have little space on my HD. Is this worth the extra space over say the (tried and true) 3GP converter I’ve been using since the Psp came out.
why everytime i start this program I get an ERROR .. simply a CRASH .. i don`t know why ..?what should i do ?
people talking about Super and mencoder, how about you try this thing. it owns every other converter. use the plugins you can get a much higher quality video for the same or better file size as either of those converters.
i use cucusoft ultimate converter no problems so ill stick with that thanks anyway
I love this new Ver.
http://www.mpsp.blogfa.com
This is without a doubt the best converter out. I’ve tried 3GP, Super, Nero, CloneDVD Mobile, and many, many other converters. This is without a doubt the best for beginners or those with more experience. You can choose default profiles, change the profiles to your liking, and with the use of the many included plug-ins, video is far better than anything else I have ever tried, for my PSP or any other format.
Mac FTW!
The best feature of xvid4psp is converting to “PMP” with 4pass encoding and then using PPA Video Player on the PSP to play the video. Its amazing
Xvid4psp is THE best PSP movie converter. But stick to version 4. Version 5 is bloatware.
i tred the program and was the first which succeeded in converting a full xvid move and u can add the subtitle with the film, but the problem is it freezes now with when I open a file can anyone help me in that??????????????
in my view xvid4psp is hands down the finest video converter for psp, ipod, iphone etc. with some of the higher quality 2 pass presets the results are nothing short of superb.
Winnydows achieves results that no other product can touch. of course there’s always the occasional rogue file that won’t convert but overall xvid4psp is second to none in the portable encoder world, recognize!
These programs are probably all great, but I have one question. Do these other “all format” converters convert to full MP4 AVC native psp resolution of 480×272? Because, as far as I know, the PSP only supports a crippled 320×240 (or somewhere thereabouts) resolution, because that’s what the official sony firmwares only support. It’s only the custom firmwares that have been hacked to allow full resolution (as far as I know. If that’s changed since firmware updates, someone correct me, please), so the converters are normally only made to convert to that resolution. If these other converters DO convert to 480×272 AVC, then I don’t see why ANY of them wouldn’t be useful.
Just want a little bit of clarification as to that, because I had someone who just bought a psp get 3GP converter to convert his ripped dvds to full resolution.
BTW, everyone should really compare the crippled resolution to the full resolution, if you haven’t had a chance yet. BIG difference, especially if you go from like 512kbps bitrate right up to 1500kbps or higher (you can choose any number when editing the 3gp ini file, but higher bitrates mean substantially larger filesizes; 1500kbps is more than great for a psp screen).
HMM, i just noticed in the screenshot that this program does seem to use AVC. I guess I had better download it for myself to be certain. Just that I like the freedom of the editable ini file and the compactness (just unzip, no installation) of 3GP Converter). I guess if it does convert to full resolution PSP AVC, one could compare by how quickly it gets the job done.
This thing does work. I have tried VeMode, Pocket DVD wizard, & Super, and this is the best. It’s the only one that lets me make a usable video at 480×272 (264 actually) resolution. You have to put it in your video folder though, not in the MP ROOT folder.
Only drawback is that it is very tempermental when dealing with DVDs, most of them won’t work, and it’s difficult to set it up to convert several files together.
finally. nice job
Awesome! I usually use CloneDVDMobile which doesn’t always work for me. This is definitely an outstanding alternative (maybe primary) source for converting videos. Nice work!
why does this homebrew asks me about microsoft framework 3.0? sorry but my pc isn’t that new…
