greg | April 16, 2008

Deniska scores a hat trick with some side-scrollin’ homebrew goodness… This time ’round we have Jazz JackRabbit now fully compatible with [custom] firmware 3.xx; I’m looking at you Slim owners.

Jazz JackRabbit for the PSP is ported from Alister Thomson’s OpenJazz — a re-crafted version of the Epic MegaGames classic.

Jazz JackRabbit changes:

That isn’t some unknown character… I used to play this game all the time as kid, Jazz and Jack rabbit 2 also. There should be a red rabbit too when you play 2 player that’s why it’s named Jazz _And_ Jack Rabbit

Someone clearly hasn’t played Jazz Jackrabbit before. You should at _least_ know that this was one of Cliffy B’s early games, and was heavily influenced by both Sonic and Megaman.

And it’s got a really cool soundtrack. :)

So this isn’t “making” a game, it’s porting an existing (and at least somewhat classic) game.

well soz if i offended.just never heard of it,nothing seems to be original nowdays plus i assumed he made the character, never heard of cliffy b.anyway im nearly 20 so i dont all game classics, not fond of mario but i do remember classics like Spot, future cop lapd so im not meaning to offend when the work looked like a Sonic clone,ye its great how the lvl designs look similiar.anyway havent tried it yet but maybe soon cause it looks fab

Greg- you should convince someone to try and port the game “N” onto the PSP :]
I love that game, type it in google, and play it, it’s fun :)

Bad port - missing graphics (sprites) and slowdowns.
It’s just not worth the 333MHz CPU power consumption.

Am I the only one that’s waiting for an Earthworm Jim port? It could totally work with the control scheme, I wonder why nobody has thought to port it.

DEAR GOD, I read about half way through this topic
and almost YELLED IN RAGE.

1st- Don’t flame homebrew, flame those flame homebrew. Already done.

2nd- I read Sonic’s name, one historically Sonic
was more popular. Let’s however mourn what
those sick people at SEGA have done to him…

3rd- People like AD0GG and goukifafa, the magic thing about a memorystick is that the content on them can be erased. Also the you can take this magical device and jab it into your eye.
Congradulations, you made homebrew. ETP, Eyetoy Portable.
Won’t SONY be pissed.

god bless all the coders for psp. gota love the classics. Pleas port all open source DOS games to psp. If not, its all cool, we still have dosbox. I was just wondering, PSP lacks of any good old scool strategy games. Why not pot a command and conquer to psp. FREE CnC is open source game, a clone of original…. why not port a good game like that. the nub can replace a mouse
