BINIAX2PSP v1.0 — The 4th “Homebrew Idol” Contestant
greg | April 14, 2008
Simon Fuller ain’t got nothin’ on Homebrew Idol… Marking the fourth entry in our homebrew competition is Deniska with BINIAX2PSP — the PSP adaptation of Jordan Tuzsuzov’s BINIAX2.
Biniax-2 is a game of logic and reaction. The 3 game modes allow you to play against the time, pure tactical play or challenge with a friend in a multi player game.
GAME RULES: The player moves a single element around a field of pairs of elements. You can take a pair if it contains your element. When a pair is taken, player’s element becomes the other element of the taken pair. Sometimes the field is scrolling down (the scrolling elements can push you down) and the goal of the game is to stay as long as possible on the board.
Nice work, Deniska.

OMFG… bullshit.. this is crazy awesome!
2nd…..damn
cool work
looks awesome, im gonna try this now
this is what makes owning a psp actually enjoyable
Be nice if I had known it was only for fw 3.0 before I wasted the time.
This looks great :]
A port if the online game N would be so awesome!
Looks cool
how the hell do you pronounce BINIAX2PSP?
Awesome game, great work Deniska. :D
Greg: remember what i was saying? There is NOTHING to worry about entries and Deniska has proven that :)
Good work, good luck in the competition!
no doubt… ;)
how does multiplayer work, the help menu is still for the pc version. help
Greg, is that hair gel in your ear?
Direct ports of games shouldn’t be allowed in this competition.
Porting a game requires almost no coding skill since the game is already made for you. You just have to get it running on the PSP. This is all deniska ever does, and he enters other peoples work in PSP competitions. Greedy.
no, actually, there is a lot to be modified…
you don’t just recompile the source code with the PSPSDK, you need to convert a lot of code, which means you DO need a lot of coding experience. You need to understand the code of the original system and the system to be ported to.
And “just getting it running on the PSP” is not the easiest thing to do.
One final thing, the original coder DOES know about this port. It is on the official website.
Yes, some code requires change, but not a whole lot. I’m assuming this game is based using SDL, so it’s not that incredibly hard of a task. Understanding code is a whole different story from actually writing it yourself.
Once again, porting games is not what a “coding” competition is about. Submissions should be original and made by the coder entirely.
And so what? the coder knowing about the port? That’s cute, but totally irrelevant.
@Some guy:
-”porting not hard” nothing is hard if you know what you are doing. Why don’t you bless us with some interesting game/emu port to prove that you know what you are talking about ;-)
Btw, most of the great psp homebrew titles are ports from other platforms:
Doom, Duke nukem 3D, almost all emulators.. the list could go on…
“riping other people’s work” – first, I do have my own programs (check MapThis – lots of people find it pretty useful, it won some prizes too)
second, before I enter a port to a competition, I always notify the original author ask explicit permission and offer him/her a share of the prize in case the entry wins.
“porting games is not what a “coding” competition is about” – normally it’s up to a compo to define the rules.. I see nothing in Homebrew Idol rules prohibiting entering a ported game. If you look at past compos – you’ll find many ports amongst the winners…
Deniska shouldn’t be reeping the rewards thanks to someone elses game.
Greg, I hate carrots.
