Chipmunk Physics Demo PSP
greg | March 31, 2008
Laying some groundwork for potential homebrew dopeness is MK2k with a Chipmunk Physics port.
This PSP demonstration is ported from Slembcke’s chipmunk physics library and the included demos that showcase its capabilities. For graphics and user input, MK2k uses the JGE++ Engine by Dr. Watson.

Nice work! I hope some great homebrew will be under this engine!
Hell yeah, this looks awesome. Heh imagine a game like warmonger on the psp with fully destructable environments, that would be sweet.
i dont get it ,its 2d and not very impressive at all ,why is all the psp homebrew 2d or minimal 3d at best.
why cant we have the entire halflife engine ported to psp ? the mods that could come from that would be tops, better still why havent we seen anything from virtools on homebrew yet.
i think the psp has some amazing apps and emulators now but nothing like a desent halflife clone, what about 3dgs/gamestudio cant we get that ported over to psp ,i have a few of my own projects that would look and play lovely on psp.
half life’s source code hasn’t been released durrrrrrrrr
Go and code one.
aren’t you from MC? i swear i saw u there before..
if u want one sooooooooo badddd……. make it urself.
haha and they said homebrew was dead.
idiots
ohh ,and almost forgot ,i can port halflife and others to 3dgs ,so if anyone knows alot about virtools like if demos and software can be ported to virtools ,please let me know.
i would love to port my stuff over to virtools if the psp can run it.
I don’t think you will be able to use virtools for psp homebrew, as the libs used are only available to Sony licenced developers to use with the official toolchain.
OMG this would so kick ass in a homebrew contest…
i thought this was a game… i got it and i was like
FUCK YES
then it was videos…. D:
Actually Demos, like it says in the title “Chipmunk Physics Demo PSP” :)
i know… but i thought it was a DEMO to a games that was gonna be a full release…. D:
but imagine some type of game like loco roco but with more interactive environments
“paddy” is full of shit. It’s always these bitches who can’t make nothing themselves who complain about other peoples work. If you really wanted to do something why post here “paddy” and go ahead and port your “magicial” half life that you recoded from the ground up? You idiot!!
anyways great physics demo there!! this is like the stuff that games r made of
how do i put this on my psp?
I cant get it to work.
i am on 3.90m33-3
i got it to work :P
I wish they would make crysis for the psp
i can port crysis and others to 3dgs ,so if anyone knows alot about virtools like if demos and software can be ported to virtools ,please let me know.
i would love to port my stuff over to virtools if the psp can run it.
crysis really isn’t all that…
interesting for sure
pshitty’s comments are amusing.
clearly someone with no clue of the work required to create a homebrew application, or even a basic understanding of hardware limitations for that matter.
Crysis on PSP, you are a true idiot.
I think pshitty was taking the piss out of pdaddy…
Does someone knows the name of this song?
The tune is: Progression - On a Rubbish Tip
hey can someone explain to me what this thing is i see alot of physics going on but what does it help in getting me a better grade in physics loool (sarcasm) for people who dont get or dont like jokes anyways so yeah can someone explain what this does or is supposed to be
With this library, you can define shapes and their weight and don’t have to care about the physics going on in the “world” anymore, because the library does that for you :)
All this for a game with boxes? Come on, man. Linerider is the shi* and you make this instead?
Coding a physics engine isn’t all that easy you know… Even a 2D one
Awesome man. Be cool to see a linerider made with this physics engine with bonus’. It could be “LineRider+”. Anyhow, keep up the good work, and to all the shitheads who think this sucks, just wait till a kick ass game comes out with this engine. Then ya’ll can eat it!
Awe-some. And I didn’t see a single glitch! The springy constraints in the car rock too.
love it i want moooooore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
omg my gameboy advanced has better gfx/physics than this psp thing you guys need to get out of your own little world and see my illusion we live in
Well, you are right. I tested it with my own GBA, applied a force of exactly 5 Newton to it in parallel to the ground and it fell down the stairs REALLY realistic. OMG!
Hahaha, I love sarcarsm… It didn´t work on my GBC though. That just sucks… like pepe.
Anyway, this really is promising! Seriusly, my favorite games are all 2D and this looks amazing!
MK2k, thanks for your hard work.
Wanna know whats funny. The PSP plays pretty much all GBA games….hmm. Mk2k I see some crazy stuff coming from this good work.
except for line-rider; Elastomania would be a possibilty. Or some goofy action-reaction mouse-trapping game
lmfao i like how everyone cut up paddy honestly man u a f’in ldiot u judge other people’s work and dont have shit to back up ur talk with lmao if ur such a bigshot lets see u enter ur halflife or watever in this contest. great work mk2k
i have iphysics on my ipod touch and u just draw them
iPhysics, Crayon physics. All this kinda stuff is able to be made with the Chipmunk physics engine as well as the Box2D engine. I myself won’t make it, as I don’t have much fun with draw-and-it-behaves-like-a-physical-object stuff. However I’m working on another game approach using Chipmunk, stay tuned :)
Loco Roco 2 anyone? ^^
