PSPUAE 0.71 Released: Ubiquitous Amiga Emulator

greg | March 20, 2008

Long live the Amiga! For real. And has anyone brought back Marble Madness yet?

Marble Madness

Much respect FOL and the PSPUAE team.

PSPUAE 0.71 changes:

  • Fixed, not saving Frameskip setting (thanks to horace, for making me see the code clearly)
  • Added left / right sound DWORD code (from Winuae, fixes sound not outputing correctly)
  • Made sound bug from 0.70 into an option, as it gives a speed increase
  • Altered Frameskip logic (to help stop frameskip going crazy)
  • Altered Official Cycle Unit to improve CPU speed option
  • Added Anti-Interpolation sound code (from WinUAE)
  • Added Stereo Separation option

Err, the game is called Marble Madness. To get PSPUAE working you need to grab the Kickstart 1.3 ROM (Google it!), label it as KICK13.ROM and place it inside the KICKS folder.

I cocked up the make file, missed it for some reason. So the speed is slower than 0.70. Only slightly, I need to do some more tweaking, but that can wait, while I have a break.

Is there any way someone can post link to working Kickstart 1.3 ROM or at least some help (google keyword?).
I googled it for couple of hours, couldn’t find one that would work with my psp.

I loved the Amiga in it’s day and it’s fantastic to relive those gamer memories.

However, this emulator still has quite a long way to go in terms of speed and stability. We have a lot of emulators on the PSP atm, and it’s the Amiga and MAME ones that are still not up to a real high framerate as yet.

I’d like to see more focus on these two emus to really allow the PSP to shine as the ultimate portable emulation console.

lol, thanks. I think coders who have worked on PSPUAE take alot of flak.

You know how hard it is to emulate an Amiga? I think the other coders left cause of all these type of comments.

Simple fact is, im the only 1 left working on it, and I have done all I can, if games running at 1 Frame Per Second aint good enough, then I dont know what is, :(.

Im stuck as I dont know enough C, I need help, im not ashamed to admit it, im still learning and learning by yourself aint easy.

oh almost forgot, what do you mean by stability, as its fine, there are only 2 minor things that make PSPUAE crash but apart from that its rock solid.
