PSP-Maps 0.4 Released *Updated*
greg | March 13, 2008
Update: Royale has shared PSP-Maps 0.4; most notably adding support for offline browsing.
PSP-Maps 0.4 changes:
- added a cache on the memory stick
- allows offline browsing of maps in the cache
- added a configuration file
- added options to disable disk cache and transition effects
- added an error image when view is not available
- better zoom level (thanks to elefas for the tip)
Royale’s been awfully busy with the Chromium-PSP port and his rapidly maturing homebrew app called PSP-Maps. I refrained from posting earlier versions until trying the latest, that is now version 0.3.

Royale’s Google Maps implementation doesn’t utilize the Google Maps API; for now, it simply retrieves and displays images direct on the PSP. With that said, you’ll need to be within range of a connected WiFi spot for PSP-Maps to work. Enjoy!
Controls:
- D-PAD: move the map.
- Analog: scroll the map smoothly.
- R trigger: zoom in.
- L trigger: zoom out.
- X, /\, [], O: change view.
- Start: PSP-Maps menu — load/save favourites.

This program is great!
Very useful!
Thank you and keep improving it!
Damnn it deosnt work:S all i see is a gray screen when i start it
Anyway to view the maps on the psp via wifi and then just download all the data to the memory stick for viewing later rather than needed wifi access everytime? (like a cache)
Would be great on certain trips where i have no maps and just my psp.
mapthis and gmdl is all you need, but ill be giving this a try.
very nice.. it would be more awesome if it was possible to save the whole thing….as you zoom you wouldent need to use wifi to scroll or load new areas…
this is amazing
great app keep them coming.
Very nice.
It would be nice to see a zoom level bar in the corner in the next version.
nice very nice i like it alot!!!!!!!!!!111
this app has problem when exiting home it freezez and it turns off …..
just awesome dude, simply awesome, one of the best apps I have seen for a PSP after Dark alex custom firmware, simply the best…
Now, if we could get the psp into monitor mode this would be even more useful >)
it doesnt work on my psp it says this game could not be started (800201)
skeric17, if it doesn’t work, your firmware might be too old or you didn’t put it in the game3XX folder.
Works perfect for me - there is a small glitch in that if you try to zoom in beyond the maximum then you can’t scroll the screen. But I looked up my neighborhood in Germany and it looks great.
Amazing program and very well built however, i’m experiencing lockups in some places and zoom keeps trying even at 100%. PSP1000 3.90 m33-U2 1.50v2. CWCheat prx’s only. Sandisk 2Gb stick.
MapThis! is is way better and has all the features you’ll need, including everything this can do and extra :)
why are the updates so slow?
Niiice!
i think i’ll wait till i get my gps reciever then use mapthis!
version 0.4 is out
somewhere - google it
is it possible that psp maps would use maps from yahoo also? i mean combine them to result a better map?
what do i do after i download it?
it doesnt work on my psp it says this game could not be started (800201)–and I have the lastest firmware!!
Awesome program, is there anyway we can download a certain place so we don’t have to go through the maps individually ?
