Custom Firmware Extender v2.2 Released *Updated*

greg | February 22, 2008

Update: 2.2 is out…

  • The Time Machine reboot function should now be fixed … stupid error I made. Note that the functions only made for use with NAND firmware and 150_340 one, with the TM files provided in this archive. If you want to use it with another firmware than 150_340, you will have to edit your firmware files manually to add the cfe_vsh.prx and cfe_game.prx plugins (TM/fw/pspbtcnf.txt and TM/fw/pspbtcnf_game.txt).
  • Fixed some little bugs in the music player, and found the reason why it was not working for all the people. If the psp hang while loading the music menu, you should apply the dark_alex 3.71 fatmsmod.prx patch, it should fix all the problem’s.

Cpasjuste has again updated Custom Firmware Extender. Most notably — courtesy of joek2100 — CFE v2.1 adds in game access to your MP3s. Now enjoy your own tracks while doing whatever else on your PSP.

CFE v2.1 changes:

  • Added music playback based on music.prx by joek2100. (only tested under 3.90fw), default combo button for the music menu is NOTE+SQUARE.
  • Changed the way we reboot from one firmware to another firmware with Time Machine, the original configuration file is now backup and restored at each boot.

load the config file in notepad
seplugins>cfe>cfe.config
scroll down to the music settings and it should say
ms0:/MUSIC/

i notice that u have to remove all your plugins from the seplugins folder and then add the cfe 2.2 plugins in there without any other plugins being present

Speaking for people that have updated in the past to official FW’s, this is (once again) another useless homebrew app to THOSE who HAVE official PSP FW. The only reason I saw that is because to install, you must have exisisting custom FW, which is lame. Why not make it to where EVERYBODY can use?

Joking aside, I’m sure this homebrew or whatever is fucking fantastic, I just wish it was for everyone to use. I’m interested to fucking stuff my memory stick with PSX game after PSX game. Especially some Twisted Metal 4. :P

Do you see the “Download” tab up there? OMG!!! IT IS FOR EVERYBODY!!!
Now… if only you were a little smarter, you could figure out how to flash C/F.

Nah, its cool with me. It really isn’t a bother. It is funny to see someone get worked up over nothing on the internet. :P

I still do want to hack my PSP to be able to play PSX games. It’s a shame that I did upgrade to 3.90 Sony FW.

I flashed the fatmspatchv2 on my psp slim 3.90 m-2, did the no slash thing after music, shows what should be playing but still no sound, there needs to be an answer to this

Hmmm… This sounds great but the fatsmod worries me… Quote from the patcher…

Note: fatmsmod of 3.71 usually works better because it has a better cache system, and usually reads on bigger blocks.
(in some things is worse than 3.89/3.90 like sometimes reading more data than needed - lazy prediction -).

However it uses more kernel memory, and it is unknown if it will have any kind of secondary effect running this module in 3.80/3.90

The lags in np9660 no umd mode won’t probably be solved, as that is a different problem.

End Quote

i just up’ed to 390-2 and noticed near all the plugins dont work including music.prx ….

please tell me surly we dont have to go to these lenths to get our plugins working ?

i try’ed the extender but couldnt get it working properly and found it messy .. is thre no way to get the plugins working on 390 ? would i be better downgrading to 352 as it was a solid cfw only missing internet radio, but even then internet radio sux in comparison to pspradio anyway.
