Update: Quick bug fix…
- Limited the heap size used by sound font to fix a crash bug.
Sleepper has released PSPKVM v0.1.0 — a JavaME VM capable of running mobile j2me apps/games on the PSP. Once you get the hang of PSPKVM’s control scheme, you’ll no doubt find games much more enjoyable than using your phone’s keypad — especially those still sportin’ the Nokia 3650.
To use: start PSPKVM and select a “.jar” file. The default device is the SE K800i; press Triangle to cycle through available devices. The last selected device will be loaded on the next boot.
Stay tuned for improved versions of PSPKVM; it’s said the author of pspME, M@x, will be merging his project with Sleepper’s in effort to provide a better Java Micro Edition Virtual Machine for the PSP.

Nice. Did some work for a couple cellphone games companies. Will be nice to play the games I contributed to on a system with actual decent controls.
Ok, downloaded this and it works really well. I was surprised. The only thing is that alot of cellphone games you will download wont have the “cell phone” name they are made for. So it can be a pain in the ass on this emulator, because there are about 30 different phone settings on it. Makes for good compatibility tho. Great work man.
On a side note, does anyone have a link for final fantasy before crisis for cellphones? ;)
By the way… if you have yet to try it, DOOM RPG is a game actually worth checking out.

ok so i have the games working but i also found Apps such as google maps and whatnot, however psp doesnt have a gprs so its impossible to use them, is there a way to do it via wifi?

Nice app. Good to see some interesting homebrew on the scene. Would be good to make use of the wifi for the GPRS apps though.That would complete it for me.
Question… whats with the “xbox demo” in the settings?
This thing works great. I know nothing about cell phone games but I was able to get it working with no problem. The only problem is not the emulator, but the games themselves since most of them suck (I found a whole bunch at http://www.getjar.com), and its hard to read the text in games sometimes. One suggestion for the programmer: Since the games are mostly vertical, maybe you could add a way to flip the orientation to fill up the PSP screen?
And a question: are games made specifically for the N-gage possible on this?

this home brew great now i can play all my sell phone games on my psp I’ve tried 80 games already
i made the games vertical just change the
call phone
by pressing square
there is some that are vertical
but its hard to play some games like that
Its not bad tbh, some good games too that can play on this, my advice is to try the tomb raiders, there pretty good :)

yes it does matter homebrew games are meant only for psp’s running custom firmware
or 1.50 firmware
