TimeMachine v0.1 Released

Posted by greg

Not only does Dark_AleX hold the PSP championship belt of awesomeness, he probably has your girlfriend washing out her panties in his reverse engineered Maytag. Hitting hard yet again with a fresh new release — TimeMachine v0.1.

Similar to BOOSTER’s DevHook; TimeMachine loads previous official/custom firmwares off the memory stick using a Pandora battery and custom IPLs.

The timemachine is useful to run software that is not supported anymore, and also as a way of booting psp’s even if the internal firmware is destroyed. It can also be useful for developers to test their homebrew in different firmwares.

The packaged readme details the available installation options, usage, known problems and considerations; I strongly encourage you to read that over before you begin.

Find all the necessary firmwares here (official), and here (custom).

TimeMachine v0.1 currently supports the following:

  • Original 1.50 — can only be loaded on the phat
  • 1.50 with some 3.40 hw modules — can be loaded on both, phat and slim
  • 3.40 OE — can only be loaded on phat
  • 3.60 M33 — can only be loaded on slim

Other firmwares are said to be added in the future.

    For one, I believe that this is a first attempt at running a 1.50 kernel on the slim, albeit with a few modules absent.

    @Matt

    You called Snake a n00b and here you are asking a n00b question?

    The main benefit for me would be no more flashing firmwares to the internal flash. Just run from a memory stick. Did you even read the post?

    “TimeMachine loads previous official/custom firmwares off the memory stick using a Pandora battery and custom IPLs.+

    ThatOneGuy,

    I should have viewed the other posters’ names. I’m not the same Matt that made those comments.

    And I’m still not sure as a Slim user how exactly this will benefit me. I can already run just about any emulator and play original PS1 games, so I’m not sure what adding this would give me additionally, so I appreciate an explanation. Thanks.

    yeah follow instructions to this as these are pretty poor instructions. But everyone planning on buying a slim wait til this is fully ready. I give everything a try then wait a week until there is a better release that is safe and easy like Universal Unbricker v4 or Network Update custom frimwares by DAX.

    When I first tried to install this, it messed up my pandora memory stick…and i tried my darndest to get it back to the way it was. After two or so hours of messing around, i figured out this doesnt have to be installed on top of a Pandora memstick… even works on non-compadible Pandora cards (ie non sony)…it works fantastic on my slim…now can use programs from back in the old Fat only days…been missing them so much. A modified version of this is bound to come out…but this program even with its flaws is almost as great at the original Pandora itself.. you’ve outdone yourself Dax, we owe you a debt of graditude. With this program…the entire PSP family line is officialy hacked!

    Thanks to you for your grat work. The timemachine works perfectly on my slim. I’ve your FW 3.90-M33-2 and PMPlayer doesnt play any pmp files. With your TM and the 3.60M33 I can view those videos. IRSHELL for 1.5 works, too.
    Please don’t stop to work on this thing.

    When turning on the PSP with Pandora Battery, hold down CIRCLE to boot to 3.60 M33 or SQUARE to boot to 150+340…. Read the Config.txt in the TM folder on your PSP memory stick

    CROSS = 150
    CIRCLE = 150_340
    TRIANGLE = 340OE
    SQUARE = 360M33
    UP = pandora.bin

    This tool is FANTASTIC!

    i finally figured the bug. you see you keep going back to your own time whenever your eyes blink. and the only way to prevent that from happening is to hold your breath. so whenever you would blink, dont breath. if you get it wrong youll go back instantly. recently ive lasted about 20 minutes in NY while im watching the twin towers collapse back in 9-11-01.
