It’s indented in the back. LCDs can be VERY low-profile after all. Probably using rubber/plastic flaps to make it flush at the bottom when closed. Agreed though, I’d love to have one if it were A) real, B) More comfortable :)
That is a very sweet looking system. If that comes out I am going to to get one.

wouldent your current psp’s screen get scratched? duhh. it looks pretty freaken nice. i cant imagine how many hacjs there would be for it….but time will tell. i ca\ould immagine tht thing would go for like 300.00 or something. it looks my psp look so old and low tech…and bulky. theres so much i need to say about this but i still diddent read the source…does it have L2 and R2 buttons on it? i would think tht thaqt would finally occur to everyone to put it on…..
the normal psp screen gets scrathed the same way lol just take care of your system thats all don’t treat it like shit lol

Looks like an accident between a Viao UX-280 and a PSP…. sophisticated looking, but if this were to manifest into reality….it looks like it would cramp my hands just as bad as the analog stick does on the current one.
That is a sweet system but the cons are that the screen will get scratched, the screen will have problems going over the buttons and keys, and it looks to be defined as very uncomfortable. But nether the less it looks very cool to have in the pocket

Yeah, that’s true but those problems could easily be overcome. Like, for example, you could indent the area around the buttons and analog stix, and you could round off the edges to make it more comfortable. And the screen scratching, it could happen, but it’s not like it’s more likely to happen just because of its design. The only problem I can see with this design is that it may be accused of being a DS ripoff, but still a sexy design.

the analog controllers are to low, the weight of the screen would likely make it feel like it would fall out of your hands.
I agree. The analog nubs being that low down will make the unit very top-heavy. It looks like there’s a gap under the screen to slide over the buttons.
The weight would be in the battery not the screen..

The R and L buttons are gonna be a bitch to get used to.
its a very nice concept device and i can see that the screen would slide into place easy,but the main flaws to me are ones that have been carried over from sony,the buttons and dpad are rubish ,get a cross style dpad and do 6 buttons like the megadrive controller and its sorted. what about a qerty keypad if the display can flip/rotate and have a back stand so when the screen is down it can rest on a surface playin a movie.

L and R button will be a problem… How about with a touch screen design? so that slide down can still be use.
That screen looks like it has aspect ratio of 4:3 or something, definately not the 16:9 PSP is using.
Just to comment on the design, for it to be more comfortable I suggest that the analog and the start/ select buttons be switched, then give the controller a bit more curve to lessen the strain on the hands, as for the screen and It’s ok….. The concept is cool anyways

Can’t say I like it much. I think I like the way the controls can be hidden if you’re just viewing a movie or something, but otherwise everything else just looks incredibly impractical.

The design is good and slick but not very practical though.
I like the sliding design, but will it last long? If they finalize that design, the ribbon cable connecting the lcd screen will soon break overtime, which will need replacing.

this looks very nice. idk how it would feel but it looks good.
clearly a good concept
but this would never be made into construction as:
a) uncomfortable
b) no L1/R1 and imo a L2/R2 should be incorporated
c) the screen would last 2 seconds, even with screen protectors
d) a flip instead of a slide is far better
e) i cant work out how i’d hold it
Other than that it would be awesome to watch movies on, put music on, etc. Games would come more alive with the clearer screen and bigger screen.
By then i’d expect so much storage within it, and better graphics, but the cost i would expect to be huge.
actually if you look at the picture closely L1 and L2 are incorperated on the side just above the MSDUo slot and to those of you that are worried about the screen, what about the iPhone…this is similar in size i believe

That’s amazing! All it needs is the ipod touch/iphone’s scratch resistant screen(or at least it seems that way). seems like it could be a little too thin to hold properly though… even the ds lite is almost too thin.
Apple uses glass for their lcds. the iMac, iPod and iPhone all have glass screens.

Looks nice. BUT! It looks like having 4:3 screen, and I loved widescreen. Also it looks like it is so f*ckin fragile. I have slim now, but i had phat before, and even my slim seems so fragile that i fear it sooo, than what would i think if I’ll have this new one? I’ll carry it in a titanium-suitcase…
Also havin’ two analog stick is good, but what about L and R buttons? They would be wierd in this design…

I remember when I first got my PSP, the analog was wierd and felt uncomfortable, but now its second nature. This concept is freakin sweet. If this comes out on the market I would buy it day one!!!
I have an idea.. maybe it’s better if the buttons will just slide out from the left and from the right? but this design is good because it has the potential of a bigger screen
Is it me or does it look a lot like the GBA SP? but a little nicer, still does look very uncomfortable for long gaming sessions.

Where are the bumpers?
Everyone’s biggest complaints seem to be screen scratching, the fragility, and the existence of shoulder buttons. So let’s make this simple-after all it is just a CONCEPT DESIGN.
It could be uncomfortable to hold in order to play, but it does look really good.
Dual analog stick incorporation is a plus.
The lack of being able to tell the existence of shoulder buttons.
And oh yeah, any thing with a screen is scratch prone, get over it, it’s human nature, we are not perfect, therefore our devices are not.
In the end, a good job at putting a fresh spin onto something, despite the “flaws”. But like I said earlier, and like it says at the beginning, it’s just a CONCEPT DESIGN people……sheesh.
i would like an internal hard drive. apple has god knows how many gb hard drives in their.ipods these days. besides it might make it thick enough to put R and L buttons on some sort of ledge on the back. im not saying to get rid of the flash either. and as long as the battery and hd were in the bottom it would balance it out so you wouldnt hardly notice the screen.

its a good idea, still have an idea to improve the psp system design…but,this design doesn’t look practical at all,plus it is uncomfortable to hold. try to imagine it first? still can touch-up the design.
that looks really inefficient and uncomfortable; what’s the point in having a screen that slides up like an inch to reveal buttons when folding is makes it easier to look at and protects the screen?

The L and R buttoms look like they might be at the back, so your index finger pressing it. to slide it back down it migth be pulled out a bit first then slide down init.
